Absolutely appalling service for my 97 year old father in Melbourne who was having issues with his MacBook. Running slow mainly. As I am caught up in lockdowns overseas I read the reviews for Geeks and noted they were generally good. Let me add my warning to stay away from this company. The technician took my fathers computer away for a few days to “upgrade” the OS and maximise its operation. It was returned at the cost of almost $600. A week later it completely died. I was reminded that this “may” not be covered by warranty as it sounded like a “separate issue”. A mere coincidence? The technician came back and took the machine again. This was weeks ago now. I’ve had a one-line email from the technician since. Several from “Customer Service” promising action. My father is approaching his 100th year and is very trusting. I have even offered to buy a brand new computer but have been told I will be charged another 2.5 hours to set this up. I have even today taken the extraordinary step of advising them I will call the police as this is theft. There are many small companies who offer good service. Please avoid this large one that obviously relies on quantity rather than quality. Absolutely hideous.

PHOTO DUPLICATES APP Again and again, Geeks deliver. We asked at short notice for an Apple expert who was a wizard with Apple Photos. Danyal delivered in spades. He was courteous, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful and could not have provided a better solution to our problem. From the moment you pick up the phone, you know you are dealing with a thoroughly professional organisation. Sam - who booked us in - also had an exemplary phone manner. I am the man in your ad whose life is restored when he gets his photos back!

Edit edit: The techie came out and did his best to complete the task. In the end I had to just let him go and do it myself, which was a real pity. I ended up having to pretty much re-do everything as the guy who came out to make everything right made a couple of rookie errors - such as not applying thermal paste and putting fans backwards. In fairness, the guy who came out was used to working on granddad's 25 year old Dell that's held together by dust, cobwebs and malware. The poor guy was completely out of his depth. This circles back to the company's CRM not aligning experience/skill with jobs Edit: Geeks2U has since been in contact and another technician is coming out tomorrow to correct everything and finish the task at no charge. I’ve been informed that the new guy is full bottle on current hardware and will have no hassles completing. That’s a pretty awesome remedy. Straight out of the gate I want to make it very clear that the techie is not in any way at fault for this dog’s breakfast. The guy who came out was a printer techie who hadn’t seen inside a PC for years. This to me is a failing in the part of the company’s CRM and training as I was very clear the task would require someone familiar with hardware. My task was a tear down and rebuild of two systems. I wanted components from one moved into a new case and the contents of the other moved into the original case. Here is my list of issues: 1. The techie had never seated an AMD CPU before and I had to walk him through it. Remember, he’s a printer techie 2. None of the case fans spun up as he was unfamiliar with the fan/RGB controller in the case 3. The M.2 drive was incorrectly installed and not recognised by the motherboard. He’d never seen an M.2 drive before because (say it with me) he’s a printer techie 4. You’ll notice I’m only talking about one PC. That’s because he wasn’t able to even touch the second one before time constraints meant he had to go The techie did as well as he could and muddled his way through the task. Cable management was great and his attention to detail impeccable. He even re-seated the GPU because it didn’t seem quite right - which is something even veterans don’t bother with. The fault in this lies squarely on the company. It seemed to me that there’s an attitude that just because someone can fix a printer - they can do anything computer-ey. This is simply not the case. That’s like saying a bird watcher can work as an air traffic controller because airplanes fly. Geeks2U needs to fix their systems to align each task with someone qualified and/or confident - not just send someone out and assume they can figure it out. I’m waiting on a response from them as to whether they’ll send someone out to finish the job at no charge or refund me as their terms clearly state a no fix no fee policy.

When I phoned to ask for someone to come and install my printer, as I am not tech savvy, I was expecting it would take quite a while for someone to come to my home. It took only a couple of days for their visit. I had a very helpful and professional technician, Con, and I am now a very happy, relieved customer.

The convenience of in-home 'service'...fantastic administrative processes....prompt response and visit...and the personalised approach makes it excellent value...and the best option for home or business users.
