I was given a 12 month subscription for Christmas 2022. So far I have received three books and I had to coerce them to send those. But even that has not worked in the past six months. I have sent email after email and left voicemails. Sometimes someone gets back to me and promises to get my subscription up to date and blames it on various internal problems. However, the promises are never kept and books are never shipped. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE

Not sure how to give no stars. I just saw another review where we shared a similar experience. I ordered and paid for the service in March 2023. Order still remains unfulfilled. I sent numerous follow up emails and tried to call to no avail. Julie from Page 1 contacted me a month ago saying she would handle it. Unfortunately that was the last contact.

Do NOT buy from them. Subscriptions go unfilled; books are not sent; emails and phone calls go unanswered. If you took the amount of the subscription in paper dollars and set it on fire, you would get just as many books and experience less frustration. Avoid!

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Like many other people, I had a great experience in 2022. I gave 4 gift subscriptions a Christmas presents. The gift for my mother was 12 months. As of today - seven months into 2023 - she has received two books. I emailed Page 1 (again) a week ago - no response. I'm going to contact my credit card company - and probably the AGs in IL and in PA.

I've been a customer of the subscription service for about a year and a half. The first year was great - thoughtful selections that introduced me to books and authors I hadn't read and that I enjoyed. Really felt like like a curated selection of books. Then 2023 happened. Books started getting delivered late and only after sending emails. Then they just stopped coming at all. After not getting June or July's book and many, many ignored emails and calls, I reached out by email to the owner asking to just get the last three books of my subscription which expires in August. Just received the package today - three books that honestly make no sense to me why they were chosen (one is #2 in a series and I haven't read #1!) and which I'll be donating. Hoping people come look at these reviews before signing up for subscriptions. DON'T DO IT! This was a fantastic service, but the new ownership is majorly dropping the ball. And if they are still taking subscription orders, then that's just downright shady.

This company basically steals your money and does not send the allotted amount in your subscription. I have emailed and called multiple times with no response. They took my daughters money for a Christmas subscription for 6 months and sent 1 book to date! Do not support them!

Unless you like sending emails every month don’t buy from here. They have either been late or not shipped at all. Still missing two books. Scam company. Books aren’t worth the price either (you only get cheap books) I have emailed them over and over and over again. Please do not ever buy any subscriptions from this company, save your time and money and buy something else.

I bought my subscription in march. Still have not recieved a single book. To top it off. I can’t access the website at all. So frustrating. Contacted the company numerous times no answer. Definitely do not recommend.

I subscribed for years, this used to be fantastic. Then after I resubscribed, my April and May books never came and they're no longer answering emails. I've disputed my subscription with my credit card company, because it seems pointless otherwise. My last book (Feb) was cheap and nondescript - frankly it looked used. What a bummer!

On April 24th I made a 12 month subscription purchase. Haven’t heard anything from them. I have emailed, replied to the text, and even reached out on Facebook. No response. I have not received any books or tracking. Filed a dispute with my card company. I had heard such great things about them. I a so disappointed in how it seems 2023 has been for them!

Very unimpressed. I received a $99 subscription for Christmas. My first book was received with no issue but four months later and I’ve never received another book. I sent an email which was replied to within one business day saying they changed servers and had issues with data transfer and they’d send me one right away. I received it today and it’s a $10 paperback of Where the Crawdads Sing. A couple of issues here. The subscription was $100 but I’m getting $10 books? And who hasn’t read that book? Sending out a wildly popular book that’s now a movie doesn’t seem “hand curated.”

Let me preface to say that in 2022 I LOVED my subscription so much I paid for 3 gift subscriptions this Christmas. All 3 people have had to email repeatedly to get their books. Almost everyone has received a $16 book. Of the 9 books over 3 people, only 6 (of those 5 have been paperback) books have been received so far. My mom was on them every month so she did receive all her books. My adult daughter is still missing one and has emailed again for her last book and it's supposedly shipping. My teen son has only received one book so far. The difference from 2022 to 2023 has been mind boggling. It's not the same company at all anymore.

I love the books chosen by this company but their customer service is terrible. I have written twice with no response, and their promise to send an another book if you receive a duplicate seems to be just a scheme. I can’t reach anyone. Won’t be renewing. Sad.

Terrible company. My February book did not arrive until March. My April book never arrived. I’ve sent several emails with no response. The subscription is 99 dollars for 3 months. If you are lucky enough to receive anything it’s about 10 to 15 dollars in value. Do NOT give your money to this company.

I am trying to continue to read this latest selection of book from the subscription and cannot go further. "The Sweetness of the Bottom of the Pie" by Alan Bradley. I think , I am reading a book from the High School library. Please send me a fresh selection for April's selection and please, do not send me any more books written by Alan Bradley.

This is my second round of a Page 1 Subscription. My first round was amazing - fantastic books, hand-curated for me. The books they sent are now some of my lifetime favorites. This new round, however, is a different story. They have not sent a single book on time. It looks as though they are under new ownership, and I think that’s why the recent entries are so negative. New owner appears to be mismanaging.

Received my first e-book and I’m impressed as it is quite an insightful choice based on my reading patterns. Be aware, you are paying for a curated book selection so if you don’t want to pay for this service don’t choose this subscription.

When I received my book I thought it was a joke… $40 for a $17 book and that book was pulled straight from my good reads recommendations. I don’t understand why I paid over double the cost of the book. You could say I paid for the experience or having someone recommend a book to me but seeing as how no real thought process was put into picking this book for me it feels like more of a scam. This service seems more attuned to people who want to take pictures of the packaging of their books for social media and less for people who want good books recommended. I would never use this service again.

Paid $185 for a six month subscription and my first book was a $13 paperback. The book was matched to me which was fine but I was shocked to receive a cheap paperback. I thought when they sent paperbacks there was supposed to be 2 books sent. So far they have struck out...it will be interesting to see what the next five months bring.
