Another excellent job by Mike, Michael and crew. They did a partial basement remodel including framing, drywall, electrical, priming of walls and flooring installation of our basement (approximately 1250 sq ft). They also did attic work with installing bathroom vents to the soffit, bathroom fan to our master bathroom and boxing electrical junctions to prepare for blown insulation. They also helped place a support beam for our upstairs balcony to increase safety of the structure. They did a lot of work across our whole home in a timely and professional manner. Mike was able to work with me to coordinate when the insulation crews were going to come in (we had spray foam in the basement and blown in for the attic) and not waste any time between transitions. We've worked with them before and everyone was courteous, respectful of our busy house and kept everything clean after the day was done. I'm running out of house for them to renovate!! For sure we will hire them when it's time for our bathrooms and kitchen.

Mike and his team just finished our kitchen and powder room. Both look amazing, really happy with final result. This is a fourth project we had Mike and M&D Builders do for us over the past few years in addition to two full bathrooms and a basement. Work quality is very good, on time and on budget. We hired M & D Builders to renovate our first floor and kitchen. Mike, the project manager, oversaw all the trades and communicated effectively and frequently throughout the project. He also made suggestions for improvements and changes as appropriate. We consider ourselves lucky to have found M & D Builders! These guys are the real deal. They do things the way they should be done: professionally, thoroughly and with a positive and creative attitude. The whole job, from beginning to end, was a perfectly pleasant experience. It was a pleasure to work with Mike, and I wish I had found him for my first 2 renovations.

What I appreciated most about working with Mike was that he worked quickly without sacrificing quality. Throughout the renovation process, we were always informed of progress, and we could count on Mike to show up every day and keep things on track. We had an excellent experience with Mike and Michael for whole renovations for our home. It was an extensive project involving opening up the living space, removing stucco ceilings, installation of potlights and light fixtures, repainting all walls, replacing all trim and a new powder room. We had a separate team for our floors. Mike and Michael were professional and communicative throughout the whole project. I appreciated this the most. I would get daily texts about the project, arranged times weekly to review progress and immediate calls/messages if there were issues. They took great care in our home and told us when they found issues such as water damage (missed during our home inspection) all the way to letting us know that our daughter's room was giving them trouble with being painted. The previous owners had painted over wallpaper and the first coat was not up to their standards. They gave us options and costs in how to approach issues and were very open to changes when we discussed them. It was a fantastic experience throughout. Michael even went beyond to check on our house a few times during the project because "It's ok, I live close by". We couldn't have asked for more. Their team took a ~3 week break for our flooring team to come in which caused us stress because we wanted to move in ASAP. They doubled their efforts and got our house move in ready before the new year. Mike was fantastic at keeping us updated and coordinating our cleaners. He let us know right to the hour when they would be done. This was a fantastic contractor and home renovation experience. We are absolutely happy to be in our home and the changes from when we bought to what it is now is night and day. I can't recommend them more! !

This was our first experience with M&D Buildings and we are very pleased, not only with the completed work, but also with the manner that Mike and his team carried out the project.   This renovation was not overly large but a bit complicated.  It involved the full removal of an interior wall to open up the space between the kitchen and family room.  This wall was load bearing, so the work required the appropriate engineering assessment and the design of a replacement support structure along with the documentation to support the application for the permit from the municipal building department.   Mike and his team handled all of these preparatory requirements and the permit was issued in a matter of a few weeks from the start.   Once approval was obtained, Mike and his team started and completed the work adhering to the schedule that was initially proposed.  The work also involved the reworking of the impacted heating ductwork, improvements to the existing lighting, additional electrical work, replacement of the flooring, removal of dated popcorn ceiling and final painting.  The finishing work was extended to the adjoining hallways and stairs.  What could have been a significant complication was that the work was started and completed when both of us were out of the country.  In our opinion this is where Mike further demonstrated his professionalism.  He maintained regular and detailed communication on the status for the work and when our decisions were required.  The onus was always on us to respond to Mike’s requests for direction, and at no time was there a need for us to chase him to find out what was going on; he was always a text away. Mike gave us his honest opinion as to what would look better as work took its course, and he was always right. We can attest that there was no anxiety on our part relating to the progress of the work.  He was a pleasure to work with and will not hesitate to use Mike’s company for future projects. We are extremely happy with our ensuite renovation completed by M&D Buildings. Mike and his team (Michael & Stan) did a fabulous job. They were prompt, skilled, trustworthy, neat, helpful, and pleasant throughout the process. The work was completed ahead of time and on budget. They turned our ensuite into a spa installing a free-standing tub, custom sized roll-in glass shower, porcelain tiles throughout, and a new vanity with double sinks. Everything was done with precision and care.

We’ve just had another awesome renovation done by M&D Builders and couldn’t be more impressed with their continued expertise and professionalism. We had them renovate our basement two years ago and contacted them again this year to reno the upstairs bathroom and main floor kitchen/living area. Unsure as to what we really wanted, Mike & his teams helped us to to achieve a result that far surpasses our expectations! I engaged Mike to renovate my bathroom, ensuite, powder room, mudroom and install a new laundry area in the basement over a period of about 5 weeks. I couldn't be happier with the results! The design process was very collaborative and we worked with his associates to have custom cabinets built  to my specifications. I free issued the materials  even when there  were a couple of hiccups along the way Mike was able to help me out in a pinch. Communication was excellent and what I liked most was that Mike's team is a one stop shop for all rennovation disciplines including plumbing, tiling, painting, electrical and hardwood flooring installation. Living with renovations can be taxing but Mike'steam were very thoughtful and housekeeping at the end  each day kept the dust down to the bare minimum. Do yourself a favor, for your next renno, give Mike a call.

This is the second time that we had Mike and his team to do the renovation, we renovated the kitchen three years ago, now it’s the washroom. Mike did a great job in both projects, we discussed a lot before started, Mike gave many suggestions. And the team also did a great job, I am very satisfied with my new bathroom, thanks Mike and your team!

I had two bathroom renovations happening at the same time. M & D Builders provides great customer service, they are punctual and professional and Mike always returned calls and texts. Workers were careful to cover furniture and floors and were trustworty and always on time. The professionals that were working on the two bathrooms were not only professionals, but they were also perfectionists. I was very pleased with the finished product and super happy that I finally replaced one of my bathtubs with a walk in shower.

We had M&D install a wall in our office. They were reasonably priced, on time, and you would think the wall was part of the original construction.

I am writing this review approximately 2 months after Mike and his crew (led by Michael) renovated 2.5 washrooms (and extended the size of the ensuite closet, removed the popcorn ceiling in one room, painted a couple of walls) in my home, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, Mike was professional, knowledgeable, and dedicated to ensuring that we were satisfied with the final product (in fact, they came by a couple of times after the fact to rectify a few minor things - e.g., one of power outlets kept tripping). The renovation process was smooth and efficient, and Mike (or Michael) was always available to answer any questions I had or address any concerns that arose. They were incredibly responsive and kept me informed every step of the way, which made me feel confident and comfortable throughout the entire project. The team was in at 8am sharp everyday and sometimes stayed a bit longer to reach the week's milestone. In fact, they finished MUCH sooner than expected - in ~19-20 days with a crew of approx. 3 people (that's including the time required to complete some unbudgeted and unplanned work - e.g., leveling the floor in the master washroom). The quality of the work that Mike and team did is exceptional. They clearly take pride in their work and pay close attention to every detail. The finished product exceeded my expectations and looks absolutely stunning. My wife and I are thrilled with our newly renovated washrooms, and we have received numerous compliments on the work that was done. Overall, I would highly recommend MD Builders to anyone who is looking for a professional, reliable, and talented contractor to complete their renovation project. I can't thank them enough for their hard work, dedication, and craftsmanship. A big thanks for transforming our washrooms into beautiful, functional spaces that we love! Soon after we had a leak in our house somewhere (not related to this project), and Mike was the first person I called after the insurance company, and he helpfully pointed me to a couple of folks who could help in an emergency. We are also currently in the process of pulling together some funds to do a basement renovation with MD Builders. As a couple going through renovations for the first time, we were a bit nervous and unaware about the process - so in case this is helpful to others in a similar boat: - Contractor quotes typically only include basic building materials and labor - we were on the hook for sourcing our own vanities, tiles, toilets, grout, paint, etc. - Contractors, like Mike, often have preferred suppliers who can provide a competitive quote, but it also helps to shop around with other suppliers (we managed to find better deals elsewhere) As with anything there are always areas of improvement that can help Mike take his business to the next level: 1. Some design tools to help visualize how things would look / help choose between different options - and/or design consultation services (esp. given the overall ticket size of these projects is in the 50-150k mark) 2. In some instances, greater transparency on why things cost what they do / why some items are more complex than they appear to. Not to say that he didn't do this, but there were 1-2 instances where things that appeared relatively simple (and did not add significantly to the overall project timeline) to us laypeople were rather expensive. Overall very happy with the work !

M & D Builders came highly recommended to us by friends, who had work done in their own home and, were very pleased with the quality of the workmanship. Mike was knowledgeable, resourceful and, reliable. He skillfully coordinated the entire project along with the various tradespeople from start to finish, checking in regularly and responding to our inquiries as they arose. He was expedient in providing us with a flooring / tiling team who stepped in immediately when our own couldn’t because of a sudden, serious accident. The demolition and restoration team, Derek and Victor, worked quickly and efficiently, completing the kitchen, bathroom and entrance hall project ahead of schedule. Walter provided the electrical work for the added / supplementary appliances and lighting fixtures . We were very pleased with the end result and would highly recommend M & D Builders.

All three bathrooms of our house were remodelled together by M&D Builders. The team was great to work with. Mike Messiha was professional, knowledgeable and resourceful. The construction crew (Michael, Ted and Adam) was skilful, hard-working and respectful. The team managed the project well and completed it on schedule and budget. The new bathrooms look fantastic! We are very happy with the renovation and would highly recommend their services!

We hired M&D Buildings to renovate our first floor after interviewing six other contractors. Since we were removing a load bearing wall we wanted to make sure we can trust the person working on the house. From the beginning Mike was knowledgeable and communicative, answered all of our questions with patience and provided solutions. All permits and drawings were obtained in a timely fashion. Mike and his crew were efficient, responsive and punctual. Demolition was done with minimal debris and they always cleaned up at the end of the day. Everyone who worked on our project was experienced and professional. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend M&D Buildings.
