United Kingdom | 01 February 2025I’d love to have a chat with Lain. He attended a plumbing job 30th Jan 2025 and his lovely girlfriend/wife who was waiting in the car, emptied all her shyght on the grass outside then took a pi55 between the car doors. Scum

United Kingdom | 14 December 2024Lain charged my elderly mother £700 to attach a new pan connector to the back of the toilet which involved unscrewing the toilet, moving it, replacing the attachment, and screwing the toilet back on again. The invoice is not detailed to see where the cost of almost £600 for the toilet repair came from on top of the assessment cost. Spoke to my plumber friend after I was told how much she had paid, for them to say it should have cost no more than £180 plus VAT. Sickening doing this to an elderly woman who was in desperate need of help and does not have spare cash to hand out to cowboy plumbers. Now she's worried about struggling to pay for her bills. I'm disgusted Update: Had a new plumber in as the toilet was still leaking, the part Lain had fitted was wrong, they've had to replace it. So £700 for Lain down the drain and more costs to get someone else in to fix what should have been fixed by Lain.

United Kingdom | 28 November 2023This Website is a total scam. They will provide a service which is NOT GUARANTEED, I was charged £122.20 for applying silicone to reseal a gap, this was not done properly and mu leak continued causing a lot of damage to my ceiling. When I approached the local plumber direct service for assistance, I was explained that all they do is book a plumber and they are not responsible for any further problems and they will certainly not guarantee any service. Worst service I have ever received, be careful and avoid them at all costs.

United Kingdom | 18 November 2023Lain the plumber arrived slightly later than the agreed time but it was well worth the wait. 2 outdoor hot and cold shower units for the horses which required the insertion of drainage valves as a precaution against winter freezing temperatures. Work completed in under 1 hour and site left clean and tidy. Lain was very polite and friendly and had several suggestions on how to complete the task, which proved to be very helpful. I will certainly have no hesitation in using him again.

United Kingdom | 16 November 2023Lain turned up on the evening after calling to let us know when he would be arriving. Pleasant and courteous. Job completed with minimum of fuss and he tidied up afterwards.

United Kingdom | 22 August 2023A Mr Fogarty replaced my mothers internal toilet cistern as it would not flush. He was there for an hour. On the phone my mum was told cost would be around £120. Mr Fogarty completed the job and then made my Mum pay £488. She is elderly, lives alone and felt too scared to query this clear abuse and rip off fee. I have called and asked for a call back to no avail.

Spain | 05 July 2023I contacted The Local Plumbers.co.uk who advertised on Yell. They told me that I would be charged £62.50 exc. VAT per half hour and that the minimum charge would be one hour (£150 inc. VAT), and that the job would be done that day even though I said it was not urgent. Thought this was expensive but agreed. Lain, the plumber, from Local Plumber Direct.co.uk (curiously similar name) came the same day. He agreed that the two small jobs would not take more than 45 minutes but then told me the minimum charge for the work was £250. Of course, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I should have sent him packing but foolishly I agreed. The job took 40 minutes and I paid him £250 plus parts. I then rang The Local Plumbers who resolutely refused any accountability or responsibility and insisted that I contact Lain for a breakdown of costs. Perhaps unsurprisingly when I left a message on his mobile I had no response. I cannot but help feel that I was taken for a ride by both outfits. What a pity. Beware, particularly if like me you are gullible!

United Kingdom | 24 June 2023Fast response, great communication (as we weren’t on site at the time). Diagnosis and repair of leak was speedy.

United Kingdom | 11 May 2023Although the end result was what we were looking for, our only issue was that although we had requested a costing in advance didn't get it until the day of the job. Thankfully was able to negotiate

United Kingdom | 19 April 2023Asked for a quote to replace a leaking shower. Price seemed reasonable as it seemed quite complicated. New shower has been installed onto tiles that aren't watertight. So now I have a new shower that I still can't use! They told me it's not their problem as the shower has been installed as quoted and tiling isn't their fault. Who installs a shower in an area they know to not be watertight and then walks away thinking they've finished the job?? Now I'm going to have to rip out their work to get to the tiles, putting me back to square one (minus two grand) 🤬😡

United Kingdom | 10 April 2023Plumber called to a deceased estate property to fix leaks under sink causing claimed damage to neighbours wall and quote for a new immersion heater. Two ladies were at the property I arranged this by phone on an emergency basis. Instead of repairing the tap and plastic waste he replaced them and has still not given a clear explanation as to why, and with a very large bill. Two weeks later on another visit to the house the pipes under the sink were wet to the touch. Phone calls not responded to and casual email reply. When finally contacted he wanted an "investigation fee" of £120 to attend again. All concerned feel advantage was taken of the situation.

Spain | 25 March 2023The reason we only rate the experience as two stars overall, is that the quality of our engagement with Local Plumbers was extremely mixed. The quality of the work was excellent, efficiently executed, and on its own, would merit 5 stars. On the other hand, the price was astronomical for the job: 2 men worked for a whole day to exchange our shower control panel, and charged 4000 GBP for it! We have to admit that we did agree to the price beforehand, but did not completely understand all the implications of signing for a fixed-price to be paid in two installments; and the small print on the form that had to be signed on a small computer gadget (I am nearly 90 years old!) was hardly readable. There was no detailed explanation as to how the total sum was arrived at: how much for labour, how much for materials and parts. We felt pressurized to agree as the replacement was crucial and urgent. We did, and do not, consider this displayed good customer relations. Importantly, during the work some water leaked into the flat below us and the plumber went to resolve the issue with our neighbour. However, subsequently it was reported to us by our neighbour that the water had caused some damage there. We informed the firm about that by email and asked whether they had indemnity insurance. We never got an answer and there has been no further contact from Local Plumbers. Additionally, it has been notoriously difficult to phone them, taking a considerable time to have somebody answer. Hence, only 2 stars for the overall experience, we would never employ them again and we would counsel anyone considering hiring Local Plumbers to carry out work for them to think again, and then contact a firm who explain the contract fully and concisely, who do not offer only fixed-arrangements, but let the client see and understand all the stages of the process at the initial meeting and the signing of the contract, as was the case with Local Plumbers.

United Kingdom | 05 March 2022Great friendly service (would recommend) very polite plumber clean & tidy and Reasonable pricing. I called them yesterday 03/03/22 explaining my toilet wouldn't flush they was helpful over phone reassuring me that they could solve my issue, they offered a plumber to come the same day but i had to leave the house and i asked if i could have a plumber the next day 04/03/22 before 2pm so they booked me in a time slot of 10:00 to 12:00 and the plumber arrived approximately 10:05 i showed him the problem and he went strait to work and 30 minuets later job was completed. The plumber went in to detail and explained what the problem was at the end of the job. Thanks Jay

United Kingdom | 23 February 2022I hired this guy in good faith to try to fix my shower (the thermostat seems to have failed). Guy came, turned off the water, looked at the show unit, replaced it, turned the water back on. All in all, 17 minutes spent not fixing the problem. Plumber left saying that the unit was unbranded so he couldn't do anything. Charged me £120 for the privilege. I complained and after a lot of complaining, they refunded half of the money. Real problem here was that the plumber who came said that a 5 second look at the unit was worded as 'diagnostic carried out' and the general feel of the company was not apologetic but rather put the onus on me to put my case against the plumber's assessment etc. The 31 minutes he put down for the job included quite a while doing the admin for me to pay them.... So I paid c. £60 for someone to do nothing. Agreed to half the refund as I did not have the energy to pursue further, having a lot of other problems on my plate in my life at the moment.
