United States | 16 February 2017I have flown for a few different flight schools including a university. Sunstat Aviation was by far the best for many reasons. Great planes, management, and some of the best flight instruction I have ever received. The staff is extremely friendly and always made things as easy as possible for you as you worked your way through the program. I can't speak highly enough about Sunstate. I recommend this school for anyone interested in just hobby flying or trying to go from zero to hero.

United States | 15 February 2017I have logged over 150 hours in Sunair's aircrafts, I've never had a single issue with any of them. Which is why I commute 1 hour just to fly there. All of the staff is top notch and make you feel like you are family. Since my first flight there I decided to keep training, acquired my IFR rating, complex endorsement through them. I am in the process of completing my commercial check with CFI and II add on. Wouldn't want to do it anywhere else besides Sunair.

United Kingdom | 15 February 2017I had an unusual requirement - the need to sit the FAA Instrument Foreign Pilot Exam - now required to be taken in the USA since the FAA changed the rules and foreign based examinations are no longer allowed. However Mike and the team adapted their normal training program to tailor a course for me and the exam and the certification by the flight examiner were all organised and done at SunState. It could not have been easier! So if you are a UK/EASA pilot needing some FAA courses or exams then I am sure Mike and his team will be able to help you out. Finally when the exams were over I even got some flying done in the Florida sunshine in January - what is not to like! Thanks SunState team!!

United Kingdom | 15 February 2017I used to sunstate for aircraft hire. As an ATPL I found the atmosphere professional and well run. Whilst some of the paperwork was in excess of that required elsewhere in terms of signing off for solo hire, all of it was a good refresher of knowledge even for an atpl with 13,000hrs. Aircraft were always available when I wanted to hire so no issues there.

United States | 15 February 2017When I first arrived at Sunstate, I was very satisifed. The instructors were well versed and pleasant. The promise was to have my commercial certificate in about a week. I realized that was unrealistic and planned on spending two weeks there. Everything started to go downhill after the first few days. On a cross country, my instructor ended up flying us into IMC while VFR by scud running instead of turning around. We lost visual reference with the ground and couldn't even make contact with ATC because we were too low. Complete lack of judgement and disregard for safety. After that disaster, the nose gear on their 182RG broke on takeoff. When the plane was sent back to be fixed, numerous other problems came up. My faith in the airworthiness of their planes was destroyed. My commercial course should have taken 7 days, I waited a whole month for the plane to be repaired and nobody seemed to care that I was wasting my time and money. " Oh maintence will be done tomorrow. Wait, it will be actually be in a few days. Won't be done till next week". I wasn't sure if the airplane really had that many problems or no one cared and I was being lied to. I asked if I could continue my training in a Piper Arrow, but the owner flew it home and didnt want to bring it back because "not many people use it." After that, I had enough. I came home $10000 short with nothing to show. Stay far away from accelerated schools and big aviation academies. Stick with the local small flight school. You will save time, money, and hassle.

United Kingdom | 15 February 2017Sunstate is amongst the most Professional Flight School in the US. I converted my EASA FI to FAA CFI CFII in 4 Days. They prepared me well before I arrived in the US then guided me through all the hoops.

Portugal | 15 February 2017It had been a number of years since I had flown solo in the US. I needed to refresh flight planning, weather and RT. All successfully completed.

United States | 15 February 2017The FAA revoked my Pilot license for a 135 violation. I had to re-take the MEL Commercial and ATP checkride. SunState provided the required training and I passed both check rides with minimal hours. The flight instructor was experienced and the aircraft was good maintained and available. The facility is first class and the rates are reasonable with no hidden charges. In addition visiting the attractions in Orlando was fun.
