Our family chose to use Safe Hands Relocation after comparing quotes with several other moving companies, and thought that the quote was reasonable. After paying the deposit, which was based off of an inventory list via the phone, we had to submit a more detailed inventory list with actual dimensions so that the quote would accurately quote how much space would be used up on a moving truck. This quote was then more than doubled in price, but we still decided to continue with the moving company. On the day of the actual furniture collection, the mover called the dispatcher saying that the furniture has taken up more space than what was designated, mind you, the space the furniture takes up was calculated by their computer software. We were assured by Roxy, the manager, at the time of the second quote, that the price would not increase, as this is the maximum we would be charged. We were surprised at the day of furniture collection, as this was not the case. The dispatcher added nearly $1000 to the price, in which we had to pay at that moment. This not only is unethical, but a very poor business practice. The manager and dispatcher were on the phone with us saying that this happens from time to time, but we have to pay for it or our items will not ship. We had no choice but to continue, as we had flights the next day. Also, the price we paid were for 2 movers to move our belongings onto the truck. The day of pick up, there was only 1 mover. My colleague had to help him load the truck. The response we got from Roxy the manager was, "sorry, it happens sometimes". We get to our new location, and did not get any updates on when we would expect our furniture. The mover that collected our furniture told us 5 days, but it took nearly 2 weeks before we got our furniture. During this time, we would call and leave endless amounts of messages, and not get any replies and if we did get a reply, it was not helpful as we did not get any ETAs on our furniture besides it's in a warehouse and can take up to 30 days. The day our furniture arrived, the driver turned up with a helper that was hired locally. Our dining table which was picked up in 1 piece was dismantled into 2 pieces to fit the truck. By doing so, the base of the table was damaged and confirmed by both the driver and his helper. Also, my tall floor lamp was broken. It no longer stood tall and is now broken in half. My nightstand and storage footstool was missing, and still not to be found. I had to argue with the driver to put my table together, as they had dismantled it during the move. It took 20 minutes to convince him to put it back together as he said he didn't want to. He searched his truck for my missing dresser and footstool, but was unable to locate it. Safe Hands Relocation was made aware of these issues right away, and their response to my situation was to be expected as my experience with them has been appalling so far. For my damaged items, I am compensated $0.60 per pound. So for my $400 lamp and $3000 table, I'm getting about $173.10. They are still waiting for the warehouse to tell them the whereabouts of my missing furniture and will probably con me on compensation for the missing furniture. It's been over 1 week since I last heard from them, and they're silent. They are not answering their phones, messages, or emails. AVOID USING THEM as this experience clearly shows they are an unethical and unprofessional company.
