United Kingdom | 13 June 2013Another great family experience achieved through Herbert Woods and use of their craft. The weather tried to do its best but the UK in May is never guaranteed sun and so it was! However, this did not deter our enjoyment and we did manage two BBQ's during the four night cruise. The boat performed well and was just about comfortable enough for the six of us plus the dog, although watching a DVD at night was a little uncomfortable on the bench seats. Could have done with a little better explanation on how to switch from one steering position to the other which led to a ninety minute trip exposed to the rain. (I actually enjoyed it though) Sorted on the phone next day though. At this time the Broads were not over populated and made cruising a pleasure, also berthing was less stressful than previous trips where the summertime busyness occupied a lot of berths early. Still, a great time and hassle free. Thanks again to all of the team at HW and we will see you again.

United Kingdom | 13 June 2013I like Herbert Woods, I've them many times. My only niggle, and not a big one, is the lack of flexibility in hire dates, If you want to hire outside the standard Saturday to Saturday slot (or similar short slots) you have to wait until the last minute before booking. Very nerve wracking. Apart from that superb, the boats are good and clean and the staff helpful.

United Kingdom | 13 June 2013All staff very friendly. Told boat may be ready early and it was, only catch was once onboard we were told it was lunchtime & they wouldn't be able to show us how to work everything till after lunch. Might be an idea to stagger lunches thus easing pressure on families who are ready to go and easing pressure on staff? On our return the handover was very smooth. Great facilities on boat only gripe was beds are very uncomfortable, mattresses very thin and ontop of plywood. Maybe invest in better mattresses? Overall we had a fantastic couple of days which was greatly helped as we had great weather!

United Kingdom | 13 June 2013I have been visiting the Broads with four friends and hiring boats for nearly 30 years. Over the years Herbert Woods have always been right at the top in terms of service, efficiency and facilities compared with most of the other yards. Given that there are now far fewer boats and yards to choose from than there were years ago, they have maintained and improved their service over the years. It is quite clear that investment in both the facilities, boats and staff is continuous and definitely reflected in the customer experience. We will be returning next year.

Mr John
United Kingdom | 13 June 2013have hired boats on The Broads from several different companies and this boat was the best equipped in every way eg all the kitchen utensils were supplied ditto washing up liquid t towels etc . There was a free map of the broads and the skipper's manual was very easy to follow and informative. In short an excellent company to hire from

Mr Stuart
United Kingdom | 13 June 2013They dealt with everything quickly and efficiently. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help. Despite the fact that they must have to explain and demonstrate the same things countless times every day, they were friendly and enthusiastic. Full marks. The prices were compewtitive and our fuel refund was dealt with quickly and without fuss.

United Kingdom | 13 June 2013We had a great time on holiday staying on a Herbert Woods boat. We deliberately went for one of their newer boats and we're really happy with the quality of the boat and the service recieved from HW. Thanks and will be back.

United Kingdom | 13 June 2013Had an excellent weekend, the weather made it without a doubt! Herbert Woods' service was very good. On the run up to the break any questions I emailed I always had a reply the same day. The boat had everything on board that we needed. Can't fault it at all. Great value for money. Would recommend them and use them again.

United Kingdom | 28 May 2013We had lovely weeks holiday and we managed to moor in lovely places every night without a problem. Our boat pearl of light wasn't the newest cruiser but was a great design for 2 couples. It was clean and well kept. We did have a few cold days and nights, the warm air heating was great at warming up the bedrooms, but unfortunately the living room was cold and drafty due to gaps in the sliding roof, it didn't fit snugly. However it didn't spoil our holiday. We had a minor breakdown but the man on call was there within the hour. We where very impressed with how quickly the cruiser was repaired and we where on our way swiftly. I have been on the broads many times. Herbert Woods with my vast experience are a friendly helpful and have good reasonably priced cruisers. I can't wait to be back on the broads in september for my UK honeymoon on an elite cruiser. Thank you Herbert Woods for another great holiday.

United Kingdom | 04 May 2013I took my son and his girlfriend away for Easter. We stayed in one of their cottages. As it was really cold and windy we were a bit apprehensive as to where it would be cold. We needn't have worried. The cottage was warm as toast, clean and well stocked. We had a great week. My son and his girlfriend loved feeding the swans and ducks from the veranda. The staff are so helpful and caring. We hired a day launch and had really good time on the broads. The man working on the day boat hire was really lovely. We will defiantly be going back again

United Kingdom | 04 March 2013We went on our first broads holiday in september 2009,(this was to be a once only lifetime ambition holiday),it was so good,we have been back in 2010,2011,and we are going again this year,(2013), .We were told in 2009 that, once you have been, the boating holiday becomes a way of life and want to keep coming back,(I want to buy a cruiser now,(on the Broads if possible),and sadly, that depends on winning the lottery. I would reccomend going on the Broads, and its a must to use Herbert Woods,(a family business which is seperate from the big companies),much better service. Come on,why not give it a try, you'll really enjoy the slow, peacefull life on water. Dont worry if you cant swim,(I cant),you do get a life jacket,

United Kingdom | 04 March 2013I have had a few holidays with Herbert Woods and their boats are excellent. They helped me out of a tricky situation a few years ago when another Company cancelled on me at two days notice and Herbert Woods stepped in to save my holiday. Their staff are fantastically helpful and the boats are great. We come up every October for a weeks fishing and all has always gone extremely smoothly. Massive range of boats to choose from, all fully equipped, so there is always a boat for everyone. The 'Tobago Light' that we had last time, although one of the older boats that Herbert Woods have, was absolutely fantastic for our needs and have booked that again for October 2013. I would recommend this company to anyone, novice or experienced, to use.

Mr G
United Kingdom | 31 January 2013Just had a great time , any problems are sorted straight away. A fantastic facility from where to enjoy the broads. Clean and safe yard, efficient staff and great boats , nothing seems to be to much trouble for the staff at Herbert woods.

Mr M
United Kingdom | 20 January 2013We made use of the end of season offers and were astounded at the value of the package. We had a good, comfortable and reliable boat and received thoughtful and friendly service both in the booking arrangements and in the boatyard. The holiday afloat was an inspiring interlude made even more satisfying in that Herbert Woods seemed to provide the best value for money after careful scouring of the advertised alternatives. If we hadn't been thus encouraged to get our own vessel, we would undoubtedly be annual customers for their wide range of well-appointed and well-managed craft. We will always look back on our Broads holiday with the happiest of memories.

Mr John
United Kingdom | 16 January 2013We had a week on the Broards October half term 2012, unfortunatelly it was during a cold snap. The boat, a 43 foot 8 berth was ill equipt to deal with the cold weather. We were blocking gaps in the sliding roof with towels etc to stop the draft. The only heater was an inboard blow air heater which operated with the deisel engine running. This was ill equipt to heat the boat and the noise of the engine was so loud you couldn't hear the on board TV. We will be very selective on choosing a suitable boat if we brave the Broards again !!

Adrian Bell
United Kingdom | 15 January 2013From our booking to leaving the yard at the end of our week we could not fault the service & attitude of all the staff at Herbert Woods ,Considering it was late September the boat was in good condition & very clean .Would definately book again & recomend to friends

Martin 'Bonters'
United Kingdom | 12 January 2013Sadly, the last time I used Herbert Woods, the handover of the boat was sadly lacking and we were late setting off. My party had arrived early and did not necessarily expect to take the boat early, but it was already moored and available for any maintenance. We completed the necessary paperwork and went off for lunch and a pint. On our return there was limited work being carried out on the vessel, but that dragged on way past the appointed handover time, and with no direct communication from anyone about what the problem was. This was late October and it was nearly dark before we got away, severely restricting our activities that day. Otherwise, things went pretty much smoothly and we enjoyed our late break on the Broads. However, with the increasing prices, I really do expect the vessel to be ready on time.

Mrs R
United Kingdom | 12 January 2013Really lovely staff, late booking, very helpful. Boat accommodation good, clean, for hire use, great setting on broads. Great maintenance/embarking staff, they look after you very well before boarding. Yes would recommend and we will definitely use this company again ourselves as well as recommending to friends.

Mr Colin
United Kingdom | 12 January 2013We booked late so benefited from a 30% discount on an already reasonable rate . Our boat was a,bit dated , but fair enough for the price . All staff were friendly .... The only real negative was the size of a 'double' bed in one of our cabins (princess of light , rear cabin) . We didn't get a tape measure to it but I guess it was about 3 foot 6 inches .... I think that should be mentioned in the specifications of the boat that it is a very small double . Fortunately we had a boat with more berths than we needed but otherwise that would have been a big issue .
