NO END OF PROBLEMS. The installation engineer showed up 4 hours late to the specified appointment, and I was charged £50 for not being available due to work. The price increased without warning. After the year had completed without claims, coverbox (now drive wiser) refused a no claims bonus. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The online dashboard has not been working for 3 months. I’ve emailed multiple times, been ignored a few times and received the same ‘7-10 days’ wait while they ‘fix’ this issue when I used new emails. I don’t know how they still an active insurance company. When spoken to them on the phone after months of stating the problem their reply is to wait another week. Beyond a joke!

If i could give minus 5 stars I would atrocious customer service. My online dashboard has not been working for over 6 months, you email them take over a week to reply, you phone them on hold for over 45 minutes who has time for that? However when they need something from you its we need it in 48 hours or your policy may be cancelled. I’ve been driving 6 years with 5 different companies and will never ever ever use these again! Utter 💩

Having been with Coverbox for a year I was more than happy to renew my cover but when I later wanted to add my daughter as an additional driver I was disappointed that because she is unemployed due to medical reasons she could not be added. Not only did I find this unacceptable but then I learnt I would be penalised financially for leaving. When I logged a complaint, thinking it would be a waste of time, imagine my delight when I received a phone call two weeks later informing me my complaint had been upheld and coverbox had made a mistake and I would be refunded pro-rata as my daughter should have been added to my policy. Thank you to Larry Ward for looking into my complaint. Had I not already changed insurers I would have been happy to stay. Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone puts them right.

Really expensive insurance and really hard to log into the online account if you forget your password....crashes all the time. Also it's kind of really hard to get in touch with their customer support team not that it went into Administration. I need to recover my £60 for device management and I can't get in touch with anyone...I don't renew my policy with them anymore and I can't get to reach them...painful

This is my first time using coverbox. The reason I've used them is because my daughter will be on the insurance and they seemed reasonable. Organised that the box will be fitted on 6th July between 8am and 1pm. Guess what? Engineer did not show up. No door bell being rang, no phone call or text to say they were on their way. Customers are warned that we will be charged £50 if we miss the appointment. Can I charge Coverbox £50 for them not turning up? As it's part of the contract for Coverbox to fit the telematics device within 14 days of taking out the insurance, I've kept my side of the contract by making myself available for the time specified, so therefore, I should be able to charge Coverbox £50 for my time? I need a response from Coverbox to explain this. I'm not happy at all to be messed around like this.

Very strange company , i took policy and cancelled within the first month paying them cancellation charges , they install a box in your car , given me appointment in middle of week , so i was waiting for them , at the last moment they told they are not coming and rearrange, so your time has no value when called to rearrange you hear from them if you are not on premises or anything goes wrong you will be fined. They probably have hundred reasons to fine you, you call them and keep waiting on phone for 15 minutes and then hopefully someone would pick it, while you are holding phone you are continuously told if anything minor happens your policy will be cancelled or not paid. so in 15 minutes you get the feeling they wont pay you anything if you go for claim. i never had this worst experience with any company before. stay away is my advice. they are cheaper for young drivers probably. in Reply it mentioned about NCD , i was not aware of it but finally i told coverbox that i will use only on one vehicle which is with coverbox but not with the other vehicle. There is 10 days gap between previous policy expiring. i was told i will still be charged premium so i thought better is to leave them. Response is very fast here on review website , it would be better if you guys work on your phone lines and improve your service compared to keeping an ye on reviews. Humble suggestion only.

When I bought my first car I was panicking if someone will insure me. Tried to get quotes from different insurance companies and this was the cheapest. As most people - I have checked reviews to make sure it is the right company. I am not going to lie.... Sitting at the car saloon trying to get an insurance policy is stressful so despite of the lots of bad reviews I bit the bullet and went with them. I have been using cover box for about 7 months now and I have no idea how I sit possible for them to get such bad reviews. I think they are doing an excelent job: 1.: the box is hidden so it doesn't "ruin" the look of the car's interior. (many of my friends have a massive old fashioned walk man style box on their dashboard) 2.: I love the fact that you can check the location of your car so when I am at work I can always check if my car has been moved or not. (gives me such a comfort for some reason) 3.: if I have any issues I just give them a ring and not like other customer services - within about 2 minutes I am talking with one of their staff member on the phone. 4.: if I have any concerns about the map and what it shows about my driving I just have to email them and they get back to me within about 3 days. ( yes sometimes you have to wait for an answer Karen and please don't think that you are their only customer. Makes me laugh when someone says "oh it takes about one and a half year to reply" - if you are that desperate for an answer jut pick up the phone, press 4 and you will be taking with them) The only thing I am not sure about is that it is very hard to gain points and I think it is very very easy to loose them: Everyone starts with 50/100 points at the beginning of the policy and depending on the driving you gain or loose points. I was soo soo soo thrilled when I saw that I am constantly gaining points (went up to 91 I think at some point) for some reason it dropped down to 65 however my maps are constantly filled with green dots only.To be fair it still says I have great driving skills and It only tells me that I have to be carefull at corners Well I personally don't think it is fair because if anything I am probably annoying other drivers behind me with the slow speed I am driving at corners. Despite of this I am still a happy customer and am willing to keep this insurance company.

Unbelievable. We bought a new car, they sent an 'engineer' who was not only very rude to my hubby but has blown the fuses which resulted in sound system not working. We had to pay 300 quid in the garage that gave us papers explaining how it happened- clearly stated its them. Now they don't want to give my money back sending me to claim company recommended by them. Are you kidding me- we've spend lots of time going back and forward from the garage and money. Do not use!!! The worst insurance you can choose!! Terrible experience, lots of stress

Oh dear. I was about to get covered with Coverbox but it looks like they are not ones to deal with reading all of the negative reviews. Coverbox management.....read and learn from your complainants. Work harder to deliver excellence or you will go out of business

EDIT: they require my policy number, very good. I can’t get on to get my policy number as it’s on my documents ONLINE! — also love the fact if you send an email it takes about a year and a half to reply but write a review and within 24 hours hey presto, reply :-) I have been with coverbox almost 2 years, customer service has always been spot on, I’ve yet to have any hassle with them - long may it last.. my driving score was always high but somehow my insurance went up by around £70 spoke to the customer team and they told me it was down to needing another insurer as the company who did insure me no longer wanted too - thanks for that Axa! Anyway matter was resolved efficiently however I’m getting really really annoyed at not being able to go online and access my documents if needed in an emergency or to check my score to improve my driving. It worked perfectly at one point. Login screen says username or email so I used either or then it would only allow my username after calling customer service to find out so for a good 8-9 months no problems and now over the last 6 weeks I’ve not been able to access and all information is perfect, it takes me to a blank page with coverbox at the top? No way what so ever of getting any documents or score results etc.. kind of a major pain in the backside. Other than that so far no problems.

I'm a first time driver and had a nightmare trying to wrap my head around who to get insurance with. I decided with these, the cheapest option. They have been fine for me. The first black box installed failed. The same guy came out and fitted another and it has worked fine. They mentioned a charge to me as it showed as working. But under investigation, it wasn't transmitting all data, so no charge was applied. I do think that sometimes the recent postcode and most frequent postcode features are on the poor side. My car is parked on the street and it reads the post code from across the road, or my works one and the most frequent. Other than this, all is fine. If renewal is cheaper, my second year will be with them also.

hmmmm... cancelled my insurance because I went over 100mph - which is fair enough - but then refused to reimburse me for the 3 months on my policy that I had left and had already paid for. The reason they gave was because I had made a claim, after someone hit me over the summer, but they didn't even deal with that claim in the end because they took that long to get around to sorting things that the third party sorted it all out. So I've lost 350 quid for them doing nothing.. i should say though that they're just a broker -- the real culprits here are AXA as they're the ones with the grubby small print in their policies.

AVOID WITH ALL COST !! Bought a £1400 policy and failed the credit check after paying £400 for deposit, two day later had email saying my insurance was going to be cancelled. Paid the remains balance to avoid this happening, two failed box fitting attempts one being a call 3 hours before they were due yet being 2 mins away they could have waited, second he knocked once at 7.45 am then left I have cctv on my property that proves this 10days after cancellation still waiting on£1000 refund and was promised a call today, no phone call what a surprise !! AVOID THIS COMPANY AND USE CO-OP TELEMATICS DIRECT RATHEE THAN THROUGH THIS BROKER !!

AVOID AVOID AVOID Update 2 I have finally received my refund, 11 days after coverbox say they processed it. Coverbox emailed me to tell me that they are not at fault in any way, and everything that went wrong is somebody else's fault. Further more, as they disagree with my review they would appreciate me changing it as they believe it is misleading. I firmly stand by everything I have written and would only amend my review by removing the 1 star and giving Zero if that were possible. Update 1 Cover box replied to my review on here and asked me to send them details, which I did. Without bothering to speak to me, they have closed the complaint and are not proceeding any further with it. I never expected anything else as they have proved themselves to be useless in every department. Really... Do not use this company as they only seem to be interested in collecting cancellation charges. This must be the worst insurance company ever! First they accept a £400 payment from my son in law for his deposit, but 48 hours later he received a 7 day cancellation letter. They'd tried to call him ONCE before sending the letter, at 8:15 am. They cancelled because he didn't pass the credit check which was done AFTER the deposit was paid and insurance activated. He didn't have any more money to pay a deposit elsewhere because the refund would take 5 working days to come through, leaving him uninsured until then. I agreed to lend him the remaining £1000 so he could keep this policy. They made arrangements to fit the box twice, the first time they came 3 hours earlier than agreed but refused to wait when he was only 5 minutes away. 2nd time they knocked once at 7:45 am and he didn't even get chance to get downstairs and answer the door before they drove away. Once again they refused to come back. Now they have cancelled the insurance and charged £400 for 1 month covered but the other £1000 payment has still not been refunded after a full week. How is he supposed to insure with somebody else when these clowns have all his money?? They may be cheaper than others, but who knows whether they would ever actually pay out in the event of an accident. Reply to Coverbox I do not know how to give the info you require without it being public on here.

Cancel insurance after 2 days of purchase( return a car to seller). I have read TC and it was written that charge will be £25 pounds plus used insurance days. So check before buying this company insurance they have other T/C under "Terms of Business" CHECK THIS FIRST!!!! So, in the end, I was charged cancellation fee £65 plus £10......

I’m currently disputing a £50 charge from CoverBox I had an appointment with them on the 14th of July at anytime in the morning. The appointment was for a engineer to fit a black box device to my car. I completely intended on keeping this appointment and stayed in till 1pm. However, I missed a phone call around 9am but I didn’t see this missed until later. CoverBox have a second number for me which is my partners number for if I can’t get to the phone as I have a toddler and a two month old I’m not always available. I’m basically being charged £50 for missing that phone call. I was informed on the phone and I agreed that I would be charged if this appointment was missed which is why I didn’t want to miss it. I disputed the charge because I was told that the engineer had called my phone once, left me a voicemail, rang my bell and waited outside for around 20 minutes. I have never had a voicemail option set up on my phone (I have now had that verified by my phone provider). He did not call my bell because I was in and either me or my partner would have heard it. And I just feel like if the engineer had been outside for 20 minutes, why didn’t he call me again? I do believe he was there but him calling my bell and leaving me a voicemail is a out right LIE. Also, why take a second phone number from me if it doesn’t get used? A lot doesn’t add up here. How do I know that he didn’t just ring and put the phone down immediately thus not giving me enough time to get to my phone? I feel I’ve been treated unfairly by them! They’ve taken the engineers side (who just couldnt be bothered in my opinion) over a loyal customer. From my part, I kept to our agreement and I waited in for him! I’m only guilty of not calling the unknown number back which I’m sorry, is not my job to do. I’m unemployed on benefits with two babies and £50 is a lot of money for us and the response I got was “well, it’s still chargable” Disgusting! Don’t trust! Reply: It should never of had to go to a financial ombudsman and I should have been believed in the first place. I called to try and resolve it without getting a financial ombudsman involved. I’ve been very emotional on the phone when explaining that I’m on benefits with two babies and can’t afford this charge and we’re struggling. The response was very cold “well, it’s still chargeable unfortunately”. I’ve now got a email from my mobile provider confirming that I have NEVER had a voicemail set up on my phone so the engineer LIED about leaving me a voicemail and LIED about ringing my bell. £50 for 1 missed call is disgraceful! Reply: I have not been treated fairly. I have a letter from you saying that the engineer claims to have called me, called my bell, left me a voicemail and waited outside for 20 minutes and Coverbox took his word over mine. I’ve never disputed that the engineer was there at my property. It’s WRONG that he lied and said that he left me a voicemail and called my bell because it’s not true and I now have proof. I believe the engineer turned up, dialled my phone and quickly put it down because it was early Saturday morning and he couldn’t be bothered. He sat there for 20 minutes and left. Why didn’t he call again? Or call my partners number? In the past when Coverbox have been unsuccessful getting through to me, yous have called my partner almost immediately! He is the one that has an account with you, It’s HIS email address and his bank details that you have. Why was I called and not him? SCAM to get £50 out of people! Unfortunately the Ombudsman couldn’t find out the duration of the one missed call because the call log was too far back. I’m now going to get legal advice and warn friends and family about this company. AS soon as my policy is up, you have permanently lost a customer too. Very Untrustworthy company.
