The student room has been really helpful with advice for both my GCSE’s and A-levels as well as helping me pick which University I wanted to go to.

As a prospective Oxbridge student, The Student Room has provided me with ample resources to undergo the uni application process with ease and a relative lack of stress! Reading other past applicants’ experiences has allowed me to foster my personal statement to the best of my abilities, and I am now waiting to hear about a potential interview :)

Not only does the website suck, but I've some terrible homework advice and even more, just terrible life advice in general You're better off going to people more seasoned i.e tutors or teachers for the homework, rather than this clown show that can genuinely make you fumble schoolwork or just have real life consequences and mistakes. Sometimes they have good advice but a broken clock is right twice a day, most of the time just stay away from it's bad advice and bad user experience

I created an account on TSR for the 1st time. And it's my only account. I didn't broken the community guidelines. A day after I created the account, it got banned for misuse (duplicate account), but I don't have a duplicate account. TSR should improve by not accusing innocent accounts of misuse

Just a biased forum, state anything that goes against covid and your warned/banned. Car category is literally dead because you have these same few people replying to each thread talking to you like utter s**t and they wonder why nobody even posts there anymore. Last time i'll be using this forum as its just the same as elsewhere nowadays all pandering to covid or BLM and know it all's.

I joined the forum recently, I am far from thin skinned as I have been using online forums for a while. I also used the site years ago when I was applying to uni, and loved it! However, this forum currently has a lot of bullying and nastiness going on. I'm not sure if this is because of the demographic (younger kids, often even at school). There are also lots of members with extreme right wing views who will literally comment on anything even vaguely related, and have a go at anyone who holds different views, which is quite disturbing to see on a student site. Last but not least the odd prolific "grown up" well established member is a bit too flirty with younger girls. Since joining I have made threads on a relationship problem (and was instantly attacked by angry young men insulting my appearance despite being anonymous!), fashion (where I was messaged by a flirty user pretending to be a young woman but probably a paedophile) and travel (where lots of people seemed determined to start an argument on something ridiculous). Again, as this is a student site lots of these may just be angry young kids. But the TSR environment is toxic. I agree 100% with the other commenter who said it had become very right wing. Not only that but you can make a completely innocent comment and expect to have an angry student insult you for no reason.

I have been a poster helping many students for over a decade but was permanently banned for presenting facts about covidjab adverse reactions. Another organisation taking part in the genocide of children it seems

It can be a lonely time during the pandemic, but at thestudentroom.co.uk every day is different. There are loads of students from all walks of life, there are experts, there are encouraging people (and I count myself as one of those) I love to help students who want to get into Oxford, Cambridge, and even act as an "agony aunt". It's so rewarding to hear that you have helped someone get an Oxford offer, or if someone feels empowered to dump a toxic friend or boy/girlfriend. It's wonderful to see Oxford hopefuls supporting each other and sharing information and tips, giving the lie to the myth that Oxford students are uncaring, elitist, snobby geniuses. If you are a student, and want to know more about Oxford, come and visit the Student Room - you may be pleasantly surprised, and even get an offer next year! If you are the parent of an Oxford applicant or student, never fear, we haven't left you out! Get support, advice, and a loorra laughs with the Oxford Parents' Association! Another important point to add - if you want to go to medical school, TSR has the most comprehensive UK medical school advice available. It features guidance from real doctors and there are threads such as which medical school should I apply to, and am I good enough for medicine. Medicine applications are an absolute minefield for the unwary and ecolier and GANYFD give honest and very insightful advice. What's more it's free of charge to join.
