United Kingdom | 16 October 2023It's nothing but a money making scheme. While other accreditations like gas safe(for plumbers) and NAPIT or nieciec(for electricians) cost 500 a year, BM Trada (not even government backed) ask you to pay them nearly whopping 4 grand. Every year. Unfortunately now you are not allowed to fit or do maintenance on any fire door even if you know what you're doing without their accreditation. 4 thousand a year is nothing if you got 20 door fitters but for a small business it's not worth it, therefore you cannot do your job and leaving the clients no choice, but to get bigger companies to fit their doors, killing the small businesses. This is probably not even legal as makes things anti - competitive

United Kingdom | 03 April 2023Asked BM TRADA to step in to compel Capital Fire Doors to complete some work which was preventing the fire doors they installed from complying to regulations relating to the gap between the door and door frame. Despite photos clearly showing the size of the gap and a screw not fully screwed in to the hinge, this is the response I got! ‘I have found no evidence that demonstrates that Capital Fire Doors have acted outside of the scope of their Q-Mark Fire Door Installation certification on this occasion, and with that in mind I will have to consider this investigation closed.’ This clearly demonstrates a lack of accountability for something as serious as a fire door! Neither could they recommend how I could escalate the issue further.
