Been three days now, on the eve of my operation. I’ve had three daily jabs by a local chemist, to prevent blood clotting from the upcoming surgery. Not really a problem although it does sting for 10mins after. I suppose “ No pain no gain” so a must endure Well it’s 7pm Friday 19th April 2024, here in Cyprus, no more solids since 6pm tonight, so all done and well excercised . I’ll be going up to my room soon to pack as I’ve got to be at the hospital tonight for surgery tomorrow. I have to say I am a little anxious, however the pre opp exercise did go really well so I am very confident that I am in good hands, but it doesn’t stop me being anxious 😢. I’ve been sitting here wandering “what shall I do with the excess stomach they remove, should I keep it and make myself, one of those man bags?” Still no going back! As the hours unfold I’ll try and keep you all posted. It’s been a long night, I staid up watching the new Netflix series “baby reindeer” very good. No action till about 7:30am, nothing was said, a nurse appeared and took my blood pressure and oxygen, this time normal. Must have been the cocodine I was taking for pain. I stopped taking this on Tuesday and have been relying on paracetamol. Another lady came in a different colour uniform, I presume an orderly who put on two large, white, tight stockings that go right up to my thigh. An hour later, about 8:30 am another nurse came in and said she’ll be looking after me and she needs to find a vein. She needs to put in a canola into my wrist. I pump squeezed my fist, I assume this helps raise up a vein. Call me a baby but this hurts. It’s in and is constantly throbbing.. I didn’t think this was normal so I asked, the nurse who tells yes it is.. still like I said before “no pain no gain” I can do this. I’m now hooked up to clear bag. Seline liquid, I presume, again nothing was said. Must be normal procedure. I still do not know what time my surgery is Hopefully not too long , as I now want you to get it done and behind me. 2 o’clock they came and took me down to theatre. 1 awoke about 4pm. I’m told surgery went well and was very quick. I was in so much pain, I wanted to cry. I couldn’t talk or move, or answer my phone, which was ringing numerous times from family and friends wanting to how I was. 9:30pm Still very painful but nothing like earlier. as the hours pass I knew the pain will cease and as the days go by the weight will fall. Thank you everyone for being there and sharing all this with me. Even though I wish it was you in this pain and I was the well wisher.. hopefully I’ll be well enough to watch the Palace v West Ham game tomorrow.. COYI Sunday morning 21st April 2024 That was tough night , reflux and gas, I suppose understandable, however very uncomfortable. They wouldn’t let me sleep either , every two hours we had get up and walk, up and down. Been given pain relief today,beginning to feel more comfortable, although me thinks I’ve got a long way to go before I feel right. The nurse came and changed my wounds, 5 incisions, gonna tell my grand children they’re bullet holes, rather like dad told me many years ago. He had a scar by his armpit. He told he was shot whilst in the police force, I was so proud of him. Years later, upon a visit to his village, one my cousins told me that “your dad went to scale a metal fence with spikes, only he slipped and impaled his arm on it, it took 6 people to lift him off. You see he has scar under his arm near his armpit” 😂 I fly back in a week, I wonder if I’ll feel ok to do so. Time will tell…. I’ve been beckoned , I’m off for a walk. Monday 22nd April 2024 Not been a bad day, pain is under control Had an xray today and saw my small stomach. He’d cut 85%. Have started taking small sips of fluid. I need to take a total of 2.5 litres a day. Which doesn’t sound bad, when you think you’ve got a whole day, however having such a small stomach I am full really quick. Plus I’m also on a seline drip so constant peeing. The staff here have been talking to the hotel re my diet when I’m discharged tomorrow. I’ll be having broth for lunch, activel, protein drinks , water and non acidic fruit drinks the rest of the day. No solids for three weeks. I’ve been given a prescription of tablets to get from the chemist including my daily injection, preventing clots. I can’t get the wounds wet , but I need to dress them regularly wipe with iodine. They’ll heal quicker if they’re not covered, and I must be very careful not to get them infected. I have been thinking should I stay another week or two before I fly home? I’m not sure the flight on the plane and the journey home will be comfortable. I’ll talk to my mum and see if she’s happy to stay too. All in all great experience thoroughly recommend Varol an his team. Very professional 👍 By the way my first weigh in after surgery I had lost 17lbs which is 1 st 3 lbs whoop whoop !

Dr Varol and his team are amazing!! Do not hesitate and book with him for your surgery. After searching for hours and considering going to other countries I found Dr Varol. From the moment I communicated with Kemal and Dr Varol I knew I was in good hands. Surgery was straight forward and Dr Varol and his team have amazing results. The aftercare has also been superb with dietician support readily available. Dr Varol is a kind man who genuinely cares about his patients. He never rests!

I have suffered with my weight for the last 20 years I went in diets to n and off. I would loose my weight on not to put it in again . I contacted the clinic and I felt so happy in choosing this clinic as the surgeon does tight sleeve and no one had any complications. Which made me at ease . I let Dr Varol and he is the most nicest and honest man I have ever met.he made me feel at ease and I had a good experience right from the first communication and any questions I had along the way were answered . The secretary was very helpful all the way and is always there when I needed help. I would recommend this clinic to everyone out there . Your in very safe hands . The nurses really care and looked after you very well. I have lost all the weight I needed and have not gained any back as I’m still eating less and it has helped me eating less. Which was my problem in gaining weight back. I’m so happy i went with this clinic but the only thing I’m unhappy about is I wish I done this sooner as I wasted so much money on diets that were so depressing for months on end and then to put the weight back on .

From my initial enquiry with Dr Varol I was extremely impressed with how friendly, responsive and approachable he was. We video called and messaged for some time, at all hours, and he always replied quickly and helpfully to as many questions as I could think of. He really made me feel at ease with the whole decision without applying an ounce of pressure, he wanted it to be 100% right for me and for me to be sure. Before arriving I was in contact with Dr Varol and Narjiss who was just as helpful and helped me prepare for the journey and requirements etc. They were both there to meet me when I arrived at the hospital and instantly made me feel at ease they took time explaining things and making sure I was ok. All of the staff in the hospital were extremely friendly and warm, not everyone spoke fluent English but even with the language barrier they still made you feel relaxed and smiled, they would help with anything I needed and check on me regularly. I stayed in hospital for about 4-5 days and everyday Dr Varol came to see me at various points and he spent time with me personally giving me advice and guidance which was greatly appreciated. Even after leaving hospital both Narjiss and Dr Varol have kept in regular contact with me and been on hand with any queries I’ve had throughout my recovery. I have been back to see Dr Varol at the 4 month mark and again it was a pleasure seeing him and the lovely team. I am so so so pleased I trusted Dr Varol and his team with my surgery and have already recommended him to several others, the surgery for me has been a huge success and has made me feel the happiest I’ve felt for years, there’s not an ounce of doubt or regret in my mind. Fantastic Surgeon and Team. From my first enquiries with Dr Varol and Assistant Narjiis to now being 6 month post op everyone has been absolutely lovely! Every time I’ve had a question or been worried no matter how silly it was I was given lovely answers and reassurance. I am so happy to have found Dr Varol and the team. I made contact with Dr Varol Esatoğlu in July 2021, I was a little worried at first as it was a life changing decision. Upon arrival I was greeted by a driver,very professional, took me straight to the hotel, in morning I was picked up by a coordinator taken for my pre-op tests, all done by 12 noon. Back at hotel day my own. Next day I was again picked up by coordinator taken to hospital for operation. I went down at 1pm The nurses and Varol were fantastic even with the difference in language. I cannot thank Dr Varol and his team enough. The advice and support I was from making the initial enquiry to now, 8 months on, is first class.

Best decision I have made. I had gastric sleeve surgery in January 22 and at almost 8 months post op I am very close to my target weight. I highly recommend Dr Varol and team. The customer relations are super friendly and can’t do enough to accommodate you and your needs. Dr Varol is amazing at what he does and his results speak volumes. There was a slight language barrier at times and not always the best bedside manner but was easily sorted and overall had a very positive experience. Only downside from it all was I never had any correspondence from the dietitian. However, I’m sure if I needed her I could of messaged customer relations and it would have been sorted. I luckily found recovery straight forward and didn’t actually need any additional advice. I would highly recommend having surgery at Cyprus Obesity Clinic. It really was the best decision I have made.

My whole experience from the minute I got to the hospital was fantastic, the staff were amazing the surgeon Dr Varol always checking on me making sure I was ok he talked through everything an explained exactly what he was doing. The hospital was so so clean I would highly recommend going here and I for one would go back rather than use NHS. Had my surgery in August last year, we was put in touch with Kemal by Dr Varol Esatoģlu, from that moment we didn't have to worry about a thing , the communication was amazing with Kemal, the transfers from the airport and every transfer to and from the hospital was arranged , we stayed in the most gorgeous hotel, again all arranged by Kemal. Without Kemal we wouldn't have had such an amazing experience . After months of research for the sleeve me and 2 friends chose Dr Varol Esatoģlu and his team to perform our op. From the day we arrived until the day we left we were treated by the most amazing team , I couldn't praise them enough. Dr Varol is there with you every step of the way, in fact I don't know when this guy ever sleeps!! His dedication to the people in his care is incredible, his team of nurses are the most caring ive ever experienced.. 8 1/2 stone lighter and feeling on top of the world choosing Dr Varol and his amazing team has completely changed my life ❤️❤️❤️

Where to start so my first contact was Kemal organised everything except flights was there to help all the way through the process.The staff at the hospital were exellent could not do enough for you made you feel relaxed from start to finish.Dr Varol talked you through everything and comes to check on you twice a day and makes sure you are ready to go home with all the information for your new stomach. Dietitian makes you aware of dos and donts. If you are ready for this operation this is the team you should use i could not reccomend them highly enough. I am almost 6 weeks in and 46lb down so belive me it definitely works

I travelled to Cyprus in August 2021 after been recommended Dr Varol for my bariatric surgery. I was put in touch with a gentleman called Kemal to help with transfers and my hotel stay, from the start there was so much communication and support to help with any questions. Upon arrival in Cyprus the transfer vehicle was there waiting, the driver was fantastic spoke fantastic English and helped with crossing the border and having COVID tests on arrival in North Cyprus. The hotel booked was amazing, the nicest Hotel I have ever stayed in, they were aware of my needs post surgery, again great communication, I had my pre operative tests at the hospital and met Dr Varol, the tests were so through and in depth and they checked everything which put me at ease immediately. Again all transfers were provided. Dr Vaol was so friendly and professional, on the day of surgery I was informed of next steps, the nursing staff were amazing and so sweet, the hospital was modern, clean and very comfortable, en suite rooms, air con which was needed in August, it felt calm and peaceful throughout my stay. My surgery went really well, I was informed of the process and timings, one thing which stood out for me was the limited surgery undertaken in a day, other clinics state they operate on several maybe more people per day, this isn't the case with Dr Varol, when I woke up from surgery Dr Varol was there checking in, he was always around checking in me, I would wake up to him been there, I enjoyed that he did this, it put me at ease. I stayed in hospital for 3 nights post surgery, again the nest experience nurses were amazing and Dr Varol came to see me to perform the leak test, take out my drain personally, he would answer all questions. After discharge he sent me to the dietician to discuss the next few months and what this would look like for me. Back at the hotel he was always checking in on me. I went with 2 other ladies and one lady suffered with sciatica and had a flare up back at the hotel and Dr Varol provided care and support along with pain relief m, this was above and beyond the care we expected. When I arrived home Dr Varol continued to check in on me, and still answered questions I have 8 months on. I would 100 percent reccomend Dr Varol as a surgeon his and his teams care is outstanding.
