Recently used Lotus car rental in Iceland- the whole process was very professional from the pick up at Keflavik to the drop off at the end. The car was clean and in great working order. However, what really stood out for us was the service we received when we skidded off the road in heavy snow and needed a tow. We were sent support within an hour- no mean feat given the weather conditions and Lotus checked up on us to ensure we were safe. While it was expensive we had been told about this when we collected the car - and our platinum insurance covered most of the cost. Would definitely recommend

My experience was simply perfect. I got platinum assurance for my trip in Iceland and it was perfect. I had a pick-up service till my hotel. I will surely take again the service from this car rental.

The representativ that picked us up at 11:50 pm on the 04.th of August was extremly unhelpfull, was late 20 minutes, didn't help with the bagagge, doors etc although it was raining, while driving was using her phone, for messaging, not gps.

The rental process was easy and simple. As I arrived at the rental agency I verified my information picked up the car and was on my way there was an incident where I had to exchange cars and the manager insured that I'd be able to do that the next day.I returned the car picked up my other vehicle and was on my way and thank you lotus for your excellent service for now wherever I travel,I will Ensure you are my first choice for rental cars. On July 6th and admittedly a very busy travel day it was very difficult to find the Lotus representative upon arrival. After transfer to the Lotus Keflavik office the waiting times were unreasonably long although I had checked in and paid online. The office was clearly understaffed. When the car finally was handed out it had not been cleaned. E.g the front screen was littered with bug smears.

WARNING: USAVE AND LOTUS CAR RENTAL initially quoted me 52,000 EUROS for a 7-day rental but did not honor the quote. They charged me 150.00 for the rental and later deducted 800.00 EUROS from my deposit, refunding only 107.00 EUROS. They assured me the car was fine upon return, but this experience was a scam. Avoid renting from them at all costs, as they have numerous negative reviews that are difficult to find. Once I left and got back to the states they took my 800.00 EURO deposit and only refunded 107.00 out of this. THEY ARE A SCAM do not RENT from them. They have terrible reviews you have to look for them.

The premium insurance is well worth it for piece of mind, since we had that we were informed that the car wouldn't be checked at drop off. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Just bring the car back with a full tank and all is well. There is no rental office within the airport and I'd missed the note off my confirmation saying that someone would be at arrivals waiting to collect us. After searching in my emails I found the missing bit of info and found said person. A short walk to a shuttle bus which took us to the rental office and we collected the car. At drop off, the shuttle bus runs you back to the airport (less than 5 mins away). Would highly recommend and use again when returning, which is a must!

I could book a car online few days before and pay the same price When I was at the car company, so that was reassuring for a first time. Staff were nice and gave us loads of advice. They came to reach us at the airport (only 6min away) The Suzuki Jimny I took was pretty good for our trip and we had a portable WiFi just in case anything happens. We also had a discount car for fuel. I took the platinum insurance and I felt pretty safe with these option.

Great experience using Lotus Car Rental. We rented a 7 seater 4x4 in January 2024; the price for the rental was very good and the collection / drop off was very straightforward. Staff were all very helpful and took time to check the vehicle before we drove it away. We were picked up in the Arrivals area at Keflavik airport and driven to the car collection point (about 5 minutes drive) - there was nobody to meet us as we landed, but after a quick phone call we were told that our collection bus was only a few minutes away. Would definitely recommend using Lotus.

I needed a car rental company without having a credit card and Lotus was a great choice! We got picked up at the airport, the office was quite busy but I did everything online therefore didn´t have to deal with anything for long. Everyone was nice, you get lots of pamphlets about driving in Iceland which is helpful, the staff tells you about the weather apps and you have the petrol station thing for cheaper petrol. Very nice touch. We didn´t have any problems with our car during the duration of the trip and dropped it off without a hitch as we payed for the most insurance.

Excellent car rental service. Quick pick up from the airport even though we were slightly earlier than expected. Fast check in for the car and everything explained well. Car was the exact model as described and we had no problems with it the whole trip. Purchased the platinum insurance for peace of mind. No issues on drop off, dropped keys off and got immediate transfer to the airport. Will be using lotus every time!

“My problem was not with the vehicle (although it was pricy) or the efficiency of Lotus in this regard but rather the insurance package which they sold us, and the advice we were given (or rather lack of it). At the end of May this year I and a group of friends set out on a journey around the route 1 perimeter road which has been much improved over recent years. In brief this is what occurred. Near Vik on the south coast we experienced high wind conditions. Two vehicles on the road ahead were blown off it, we parked up for safety. Whilst out of the vehicle two of the car windows blew in - flying stones or grit - and whilst accessing the vehicle the driver door was over extended and the hinges damaged slightly. Several other cars in the car park that day suffered the same fate. Lotus provided a replacement vehicle very efficiently. When we returned the car a week later there was repair work to be done and the cost of bringing a replacement vehicle out, only part of which it then turned out was covered by our gold insurance package because there was NO THIRD PARTY involved in the incident - in all £4500. Very expensive for the work involved but that is a separate issue. The way the website is structured the gold insurance looks right for a simple trip around the route 1. All tarmac under the wheels. Don't be fooled. On return, LOTUS staff proved to be very well aware of the weather risks, but they did not warn us. There are several spots around Iceland where extreme weather events can be experienced. That stretch of road near Vik is closed more than 20 times a year I found out later. The scary part is that had we written the vehicle off (as the two vehicles ahead of us) we would have been liable for its replacement. I see other reviewers complaining that they were given the hard sell on insurance. It is not a hard sell; I wish we had been given specific advice. My complaint is that the Lotus staff are selling a inadequate insurance packages given the known risks, and not supporting customers in this aspect of the rental. Their service is inadequate to say the least.”

This place is a complete scam. We rented a land cruiser for the week and babied it. We got a lot of pressure to “buy” their insurance even though we have our own and there was a lot of drama around looking at the car and what it would mean if we didn’t buy it. We returned and SHOCKING…there was a tiny chip in the windshield. And then we had to pay $389 for this microscopic chip that they will never fix. “It’s Iceland you should have bought the Platinum package” …we will be fighting the charge. Total BS. Rent from reputable brands like Hertz, etc. This was a huge mistake.

Highly recommend Lotus Car Rental to everyone visiting Iceland, the team was helpful, quick to respond to all correspondence, there fleet of vehicles are all in great condition and well maintained. We went to Iceland to get married and had several cars from Lotus for ourselves and our guests. Everyone in our party we’re happy with there vehicles and the service that they had received. We had a Tesla for our trip around the island, the infrastructure is great and we were able to do everything we needed without any worries of not enough charge in the vehicle, the car was brilliant, we drove over 3000km hassle free and with the charging package from Lotus we had no worries of additional fuel costs. We will definitely be using Lotus for all our future visits, big thank you to all of the Lotus Car Rental team

Easy pick up at airport, with prior to arrival signing of documents, car rental was seem less, Rav 4 was up to the job of adverse weather conditions, easy drop off and transfer back to airport.

Due to the severe road conditions in Iceland and to the usual limitations of the "commonly/usually offered" insurance coverage found at most rental companies, the customer feels "lost" among choices, prices, risks. It is NOT the case of the most friendly, honest, supportive and professional Lotus Car Rental Iceland. It was a total pleasure booking their car, all details clearly exposed at the booking moment, the PLATINUM full insurance offered at an affordable price, complementary Wi-Fi all along the rental period, a great reliable car (Toyota RAV 4, almost new), the permission to use it on many highlands gravel roads (we drove only on the safe ones, taking care of the precious Toyota, but we could thus taste the real, wild, and breathtaking Iceland landscape) Highly recommended car rental company, doing a great service to Iceland discovery.

I'm very skeptical when it comes to car rental and have had my share of scams. I usually don't opt for insurance packages, as I'm covered by own insurance. Was pleased with service agent not trying to force or scare me into one and in addition he encouraged me to take photos and actively assisted in locating prior damage, which is typically for the rough terrain. We experienced a tire puncture and company was helpful in locating a repair shop reasonably close to our route. As the tire was very worn down prior to puncture I was expecting a stand that it was my cost under insurance, which service agent at return stock to. However a complaint suggesting a deduction due to the state of punctured car resulted in a commitment to reimburse entirely within 24 hours. Best car rental experience I have had and highly recommended.
