A number of public holidays is not the best time to use your services. You asked whether I had contacted the companies you listed. The answer was NO for the moment. You insisted on detailed questions for each listing. I am simply not ready to proceed.

Our outside tap broke and wouldn't turn off the morning before Christmas Eve I was so worried we would have to wait to have fixed. A work colleague suggested Hipages so I submitted a online enquiry and also took a picture of the broken tap. Within 5 minutes of the post I had a plumber call and say they would be there in 25 minutes, as i was chatting to the first plumber the other two were calling my phone. I was so happy, the plumber quoted me a reasonable price over the phone and in no time we had a new tap and all was good in my world. Easy to use and I liked that my details were only provided to the first three businesses. I then could choose who else I wanted to speak with. I ended up hiring someone that was in the original three.

I hired a contractor who was recommended by Hipages, to do some concreting around my house. Not knowing what to look for, I accepted the job that was done. Four years later my front door was stuck for months and the cornice is separating from the walls. My builders tell me it was the concreting job that was poorly done, and the house is not sealed,and unless I could get that fixed the cracks would get worse because my house will continue to shift. I contacted Hipages and they said the contractor is no longer listed with them. They have left me to go after the contractor, who is not cooperating because he says too much time has passed. Is there a time limit on shoddy workmanship? Hipages advertised that their tradesmen are all well vetted and competent. Are they not responsible at all? So I cannot recommend Hipages because if the trader does a shoddy job they take no responsibility.

3 Contactors replied 2 contactors I would not use or recommend.

We had a quick response from the glazier and arranged an appointment for the following day. The glazier maintained dialogue with us confirming details and informing us when they were running a little late and provided a new ETA. The work was completed efficiently and and neatly. They were able to remove the shattered glass door with the glass intact. The cost of the replacement glass was more than fair, much less than expected. I would highly recommend Hipages and Cormack Glass

I am renovating a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom house in Sydney. After reviewing quotes from multiple building/renovation companies, I decided to hire the trades directly instead and manage the project myself. I have managed to source every single trade - sparkies, chippies, plumbers, tilers, painters, kitchen design and installers, floor sanders and polishers, stonemasons, concreters, roofers, landscapers, arborists and more - all through hipages. And I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work or the rates we've agreed (people need to be paid fairly!). I was concerned the app would be a pain, but it was so easy to use it to put up jobs. Responses came flooding in within minutes and it was simple to review their businesses/standards of work, organise times to meet and quote, choose who I wanted to work with and agree terms and rates directly. We've got a few months ahead before we complete the renos but I couldn't fault hipages even if I wanted to. My advice to anyone wanting to use hipages is to take the time to clearly explain the job, what you need and share photos/vids. The more precise you are, the better the quality of responses you'll get to fit the scope of your project, the timelines you're working to (some of mine are pretty aggressive!) and budget.

Dealing through Hipages has been great and both jobs posted we have found contractors to complete the work. Highly recommended.
