Germany | 23 December 2024In April 2024 I paid a deposit of 409 € on an additional insurance (that I didn’t really need as I was already fully insured). Unfortunately, after 8 months I still have not received my deposit back although the car was okay. I have contacted the rental twice since then but still no payment. They said that there are big delays when using Debit Cards. I’m still hoping that I will get my money back and will write another review when I receive my deposit. (Heraklion Airport, Micra ITM 7962, 13.04.2024) Update 03.02.2025: I have finally received my deposit after 9 mounths and much effort on my part. This involved sending E-mails to my bank and the car rental, which was most annoiying. Therefore only three stars. My advice: do not use a debit card for a deposit.

Greece | 16 October 2024On forehand they answered our questions about insurance with 'normal insurance is included'. After you pay the deposit they want you to pay extra for "theft insurance". We told them they should have mentioned this on forehand, in stead of after paying the deposit. If you don't want to pay, you have to give them a creditcard for 5000 euro. If you dont want that either, they won't give your money back. The owner pushed my husband to the ground. He now has a twisted ankle on holiday. This business is dishonest, stay away! A lot of people have bad experiences.

Romania | 30 July 2024Good service overall from the company. We initially booked a Land Rover with 9 seats but it was not available. The company contacted us prior to us arriving in Crete and we had a very nice and professional exchange with them which convinced us that it was the right thing to do to go for a VW Caddy. And it was. The car was in excellent condition and it served our party of 6 really well. Pickup and delivery were smooth and hassle free. I can tell the company is trying hard to keep its customers happy. It certainly kept us happy and we will come back to them in the future, as Crete is a destination that we often choose for our vacations.

Wij kregen een verouderde Opel Corsa (>4j) met een kapotte ruitewisser (dit hebben we pas gemerkt toen we hem wilden gebruiken) en een achteruitrijlicht dat af en toe niet werkte. Verder heeft de auto wel gedaan wat hij moest doen. De pre-autorisatie van de waarborg van 900 Euro heeft een maand op mijn creditkaart gestaan terwijl ter plaatse werd gezegd dat dit maximum 10 dagen zou duren. Volgens Royal ligt dit aan de bank maar daar geloof ik niets van, de pre-autorisatie stond ingesteld voor 1 maand en die hebben ze gemakkelijkheidshalve gewoon laten doorlopen ipv te stoppen. Personeel was neutraal vriendelijk. Afhalen en terugbrengen van de auto is vlot verlopen.

Netherlands | 03 September 2023Toen wij onze auto kwamen ophalen op Heraķlion airport, heeft Maria ons snel, vriendelijk en zonder problemen geholpen. Geen gezeur over extra verzekeringen en we kregen precies de auto die we hadden gehuurd. Toen we tijdens onze huurperiode een probleem met de verlichting van de auto hadden, werd dit snel en goed opgelost. Bij het terug brengen van de auto geen onnodig oponthoud. Ik beveel Royal aan, wij zullen zeker weer een auto bij Royal huren!

Hungary | 14 July 2023Totally uncorrect Company!!!!!!! The cars are scratched totally and if you do not make photos about every of them they hold your deposit. Last year they tried also but luckily I made good photos, this year they got me, which cost EUR 100 for a bumper scratch. So unless you are not a Photomaster, you should avoid this company.

The service was excellent, fast, friendly and easy, we were in and out of the office within minutes and on our way. Same on the return of the car. Would always use this company in future. Au retour on nous prélève 500 €. quelle est la probabilité d'avoir 2 impacts en 24 heures dans une période ou l'on croise peu de monde en crète = ZERO pas contre d'être arnaqué 100 %

United Kingdom | 03 July 2023Firstly I would like to state that this company has excellent staff that are friendly. However the main issue is, the company has stated in previous reviews that I would receive a car 99% of times that's within 2 years old and if I do get one that's within 5 years old it would be well maintained. Unfortunately I received a piece of junk of a nissa micra, this model was manufactured in 2010-2016 so at a minimum this car is 7 years old and i have been lied to. My first car I received was an early model close to 2010, engine was loud and weak plus the aircon was not working. Thanks fully the helpful staff arranged a replacement vehicle for me after having to drive 30km to pick it up. The new vehicle was the same exact series of Nissan micra maybe 3 years newer. But still the vehicle was clearly 10 years old around. I would give this company a 1 star review after being lied to, received a faulty dirty car. What saves it from being 1 star is the friendliness of the staff. Please scrap the 2 micra's, they arnt roadworthy.

Wont provide a proper quote or give us paperwork to claim for so called damage we supposidly done to the ramshack of a vehicle. That vehicle has now cost me approx £1150. Even after multiple e mails and phone calls the female at Heraklion airport told me to do what I want as the wont be giving us any paperwork. Total scam!!!

United Kingdom | 21 April 2023I had an accident in my rental car (my fault), The way these guys looked after me was brilliant. They arrived on the scene quickly, ensured I was calm and supported, quickly arranging a replacement. I can't thank them enough. This is my first time driving abroad and on the other side of the road. What matters when you hire a car abroad is how you are treated when things don't go to plan and in this instance i can't fault them! As a side note - if you get insurance with your rental - opt for the additional extras as the basic CDW will only cover damage and not towing etc. which can be expnsive!

United States | 08 February 2023AWFUL SERVICE. Definitely scammed us, as they charged 700 euros for a scratch on the bumper, that we tried to protest, and then were uncooperative when trying to get additional information to submit the charges to our insurance. Avoid this place completely.

United Kingdom | 19 October 2022Upon arrival I already felt uncomfortable. Long wait just to collect the car. We were then presented with an old car with unreal mileage on the clock. Damage and dents to almost every single panel of the car. Quality and age of the cars are disgraceful. My advice would be to record EVERY SINGLE VISIBLE AREA of the car. Yes, get on your knees and record UNDER the car, under both bumpers and side skirts as this is how they will try to get you. Record every single panel slowly so that you have evidence for your own protection.

United Kingdom | 26 September 2022Royal at Heraklion Airport. Avoid. Have had to wait quite a while to post a review as have had issues with Royal. They charged me for damage to a bumper (old git on a moped did it!). 260 euros for damage and an admin fee. Bit miffed but couldn't really complain. I claimed on my excess cover insurance; they would not pay out without a written invoice from Royal. I e-mailed them 3 times requesting one. The agent, Discover Cars, e-mailed them at least twice. No reply to any of them. Were very quick to tell me they prided themselves on customer service when I picked up the car. Fortunately, my insurance paid out after I sent them proof of payment for the damage and the e-mails to Royal from myself and Discover Cars. Fully intend going back to Crete but will most definitely NOT use Royal. Wonder if I'd get a reply if I asked them if the damage has been repaired, along with the other damage to the car?????
