United Kingdom | 16 July 2024Absolutely priceless for our two weeks travelling around Japan. We collected from Ninja WiFi in Tokyo airport. A little difficult to find, so allow yourself time, but really efficient once we found them. We had two devices (and found a 25 % discount code online) for our family of 4. They worked perfectly the whole time and made our lives so much easier. By having two. we're able to split off and still be able to stay in touch. The charge easily lasted a day and then we charged them overnight. The return was easy too, but the return post box is BEFORE security, so find it immediately before or after you check your bags in. Would absolutely use them again

Sweden | 12 July 2024Easy pick up at Handea AirPort I used a 4G modem - with an extra powerbank thats was included. Good coverage with good speed. Charge the modem first for best experience then use as a backup the Powerbank.

Japan | 07 July 2024What can I say...I purchased a SIM car for tourist, the 30days version and 10GB. All the instructions were in Japanese only !! So, don't call this a data sim card for tourist ! I had to go in a starbuck cafe to use google lens and translate all the process step by step. Result 2 hr wasted... After the network is good and it works, so for this part, no problem. Please understand people. We are just landing, you purchased a tourist data sim card and the instructions to set the APN are only in Japanese...But it is aimed for tourists ?!? Anyway, sometime logic is not the same everywhere.

Belgium | 26 June 2024I've ordered a pocket wifi. Everything ws there, but: - cable didn't work, so I had to use my own cable - power off after +/- 5 hours. Ok there is powerbank... which charges only for 2hours. So: in case of emergency, you have wifi. But certainly not for the whole day!

United Kingdom | 21 June 2024Esim didn't work even though I've never had a problem with other esims. Emailed Japan Wireless as that's the only way to contact them. No reply so after a few hours of having a phone not working I eventually had to buy from another company. When they did finally reply the customer service was useless and also said they cannot process a refund despite having sold me a product that didn't work. I'd avoid these guys and go with one of the other big providers. Oh and they sent me an email afterwards asking me to review. Gave them one star and surprise, surprise they haven't published it! Dishonest company in the extreme.

Singapore | 13 June 2024Esim was a joke. I paid and when I am here it's totally useless. I am using Samsung S24 so the phone is not the issue. I got scammed. Email them, messaged them no reply. Pls stay away

United Kingdom | 31 May 2024Really surprised at the low reviews on here. Just returned from 14 days in Japan and chose Japan wireless as our pocket wifi provider. We chose premium package, unlimited data and the signal was great the whole time. Battery life was really good, sometimes we did have to use the spare battery pack but only once or twice and we used the wifi A LOT during our stay, it really is necessary to have a good signal for navigation purposes and help guiding for trains etc. Never used the translator as we used Google translate on our phone. Great experience, no issues at all. Easy collection and return at Haneda Airport.

Hong Kong | 27 April 2024I have been using their pocket wifi for more than a year now as my husband and I travel to Japan frequently. I have experienced several issues with them. Although they always offer a replacement, they do not seem to understand a replacement might not help at times. I think the best they can do is 1. inspect all their charging cables and router before shipping out. 2. make sure their router are up-to-date. Old ones should be got rid of ASAP. I missed an important meeting because of the router they sent me was old and did not work properly. At first I thought it might be due to long holidays and that many people are sharing the narrow bandwidths they rent from NTT Docomo. This was the case in January 2023 but yes I can understand. But later when I received the replacement I found out that was not the case. Replacement router is a newer model which works perfectly.

United States | 17 April 2024Be very careful with Japan Wireless, also known as Global WiFi and Ninja WiFi. Be aware that these companies are associated with JRail Pass and if you opt for a mobile WiFi remote you will deal with them, not directly with JRail Pass. Up front, they seem like a good, reliable, customer-friendly company but their policies for anything out of the ordinary are not consumer-friendly at all. I accidentally left a remote battery charging cord/cable in the black case when I returned the WiFi unit. When I contacted them for the return of the unit (i.e., to mail the small 8 cm cord back to me) the charge was ¥20,000/$133.33. After a round of protest emails and their "Valued Customer" policy replies the price was lowered to ¥5,000/$33.33. My battery-charging unit costs less than that. In the end, I declined their "offer" and bought a new charging unit for less. The "logistics" team is not at all customer-friendly. Moral of the story - double check the black case before you return the WiFi unit and expect to be exploited for anything out of the ordinary.

Canada | 11 April 2024Airport Narita counter closes much earlier than the other companies. Says in its documentation that after hours you can get their pocket router from another company's counter . Went there and they refused to serve me because they had never heard of the arrangement with japan wireless. JW at least accepted to cancel the contract as I had to rent from another company, but they had the gal to charge me 1100 yens service fee. They should have paid me as this thing created undue stress and delays at my arrival in japan, especially since I did not have a cell phone to call their number to clear things out.

United Kingdom | 06 April 2024I had booked the pocket wifi for the 3 of us, for collection at Haneda. The desk was easy to find and setting us all up was a breeze via a QR code. I made sure this was done by the desk in case there were issues (learned from a time back in Seoul!) We only stayed in Tokyo so I can’t comment on the usage further afield, but we had no issues. Returning was easy via the packaging they enclosed and the postbox as T3. Many thanks!

United States | 14 March 2024eSIM connection is very poor (below 1Mbps). Always get ping time out. Navigate Google Maps takes forever. MiFi connection, barely 9Mbps for Tokyo area (my hotel was right next to Tokyo Station). Pre-Covid, the connection was much much better. At least above 50 Mbps even for areas outside Tokyo (basically in the middle of nowhere).

United Kingdom | 12 November 2023I recently used the premium japan wireless for 2 weeks around Japan and it was excellent in all areas. From Tokyo to the mountains of Hida, Kanazawa, Kyoto and Osaka, it had signal everywhere and was superfast. The battery lasted all day and we only needed to use the supplied power bank if we had forgotten to charge in the evening. I opted for the insurance just because there is a lot of risk when travelling around and you will be carrying this with you everywhere. Setup was super easy. I had arranged for my device to be delivered to my hotel when I arrived there and it was. There was great communication throughout. I even got the date wrong and they were really quick at changing the date and refunding the difference once I realised my error. I would 100% reccomend.

United Kingdom | 09 November 2023I used them many times pre Covid and the service was great and reliably fast but now in 2023….. I paid for the fastest option but only get between 2 and 7 mbps. If more than one device is connected it slows to even less speed Pretty much unuseable

Germany | 07 November 2023When we arrived at the airport the wifi box were not shipped. The workers at the post office were very confused and could not help me and even said that 'wireless japn' is a scam and they always have problems with it. It was so much stress for me, arriving after a long flight, looking for new wlan to borrow through my trip. Nobody would help me and i didnt even have wifi to get help. Real awgul people

Dissatisfied Customer
Japan | 23 September 2023The Instructions that indicate the pickup location at Narita Terminal 1 are completely incorrect. After a 12hr flight, Japan Wireless had me walking from one end of the airport to the other. Then when my complaint brought this to their attention, then all of a sudden BOTH units that we had rented mysteriously stopped functioning. This is literally the most amateur business I’ve ever worked with.

Japan | 04 July 2023Device worked for a few days then continually disconnected and kicked us off, no response whatsoever from multiple emails to customer support. Rip off artists - don’t waste your money! I still have the device and a week left on my rental, but can’t use the device. Disgusting.

Mexico | 20 June 2023e-sim didn't work and customer service/support didn't help at all, they just keep sending the instructions for first time installation

Germany | 03 June 2023THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE ORDERED A POCKET WIFI FROM JW AND EACH TIME I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY SATISFIED WITH THE COVERAGE, DELIVERY ETC. IN MAY 2023 I HAD TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE THE CHARGER BROKE. I FILLED OUT THE CONTACT FORM ON SATURDAY EVENING, AND ONE DAY LATER ON SUNDAY THE REPLACEMENT DEVICE WAS ALREADY DELIVERED TO MY HOTEL. GREAT!
