Basically a scam at this point. Would give negative stars if I could. Please don't use this company. In fact I maybe would avoid pocket Wifi's all together. (Read other reviews from other websites which average the company a lot lower than google) Quick Summary They offer speeds of 187mbps HOWEVER say that you could get as low as 10mbps, I was lucky to get 5mpbs. I have read more recent reviews on other sites of people who also have the same issue and used to use this company with no problems but it's just not good anymore. I also see comments by Japan Wireless saying that the speed connection is of the up most importance to them, but that's not the answer I got when I complained about my issues. Basically purchased something that doesn't work. Full story Received a pocket wifi. Speeds with 5mbph. Very sketchy connection. Couldn't even use google maps. So I resorted to roaming my phone plan. Got a replacement a few days later. This maxed at 9mbps but also had a sketchy connection. Still couldn't use maps properly and definitely couldn't have 9 other people connected to this device. This was when I was told the 187mbps is a top speed however customers AVERAGE 10-50. (Which I wasn't even getting) And that this is the same for all companies and just how it works. It's probably slow due to all the tourism and there isn't anything that can be done. Now I have traveled before with a portable wifi and had FANTASTIC speeds with no connection issues and tourism was much larger. So it shouldn't be forcing me to get basically no connection. I was told to return the items and I could get a partial refund. I pushed for a full refund as I couldn't even us the service and they said I could get a half refund. After many emails back and fourth I have been able to get a full refund, so I would push for one if you have had the same issue. The website does not disclose that you won't get the speeds that are promised and that the connection can be spotty because of everyone else using it. Quote " Premium WiFi (No daily or monthly limit, no speed restriction) " I feel this is just a company selling bad plans but promising a lot more. So please do not use them. I would recommend roaming your phone and then connecting to wifi spots like trains, stations and hotels. Or getting a Sim card directly from a store not a reseller company like this. Then you know what you are getting.

I would give this lousy company a negative rating if I could. Overall, the device will not immediately pick up the 4G signal and you have to keep restarting it, hopefully in the third attempt it gets a signal. the wifi speed is slow, and outside of Tokyo - it's coverage is dubious. To further highlight the 'geniuses' running this company - they were to deliver my devices at Nagoya airport post office on the date I had provided. We arrived at Nagoya from Singapore, I went to the post office.... and it was a public holiday for the post office!!! What kind of an idiotic company is this, that doesnt keep track of holidays of post offices it sends devices to.

I ordered a Pocket wifi in April, 2023 for our coming trip to Japan in June. I applied a promotion code for 25% off. The grand total came up correctly; but when I finished the payment process, I realized my discount wasn't honored. I had been charged with a full price. I immediately write an email to their customer service team about the charge. They didn't respond my email. I kept email them 2 more times but still no answer. What kind of the customer service is this? I decided cancelled my order. Guess what? They still didn't want to confirm my cancellation email. Fortunately, I still have plenty of time to dispute my payment of Japan-Wireless to my credit card company. I am not sure how they got such high reviews from their web site. They could be fake!! You need to think twice before placing orders from this company.

I used to love Japan Wireless. Used them for literally years pre-covid, but I've been back in Japan a few times since the travel ban lifted and their service is awful now. I used to get 100+Mbps easy, almost anywhere in Japan. This last time I was averaging under 4mbps. Some days it was just unusable. Customer support doesn't respond, I sent my unit back several weeks ago and they haven't even acknowledged it. Until they fix whatever they lost over Covid, I would avoid them. It's just not good anymore.

Il wifi ha sempre funzionato ma non mi è stata data la busta per riconsegnarlo e in areoporto è stato impossibile farlo. Morale della favola penale di 30000 Yen senza la possibilità di restituirlo in alcun modo per un errore non mio

The wi fi service only works in Tokyo. i did not work either in Osaka nor in Kyoto. Terrible customer service they never answer e mails and by phone they dont resolve any issue. BIG ERROR TO BUY THE SERVICE FROM THEM. TERRIBLE COMPANY

Pocket wifi device stopped working after 5 days. Contacted customer service and got the form letter promising 48 hours response. No one ever got back to me.

Really not satisfied with this !!!!!! For starter we learned that we needed to pay DOUBLE for 2 SIM card, of course it was not mentioned anywhere when we paid and we were output of the money only few days later without our consent, and THEN same again we had to pay again for the second month while we booked just for one !!!! Of course no comprehension or gesture from japan wireless !!!!!!!!! That’s a shame !!!!!!

Be careful, with Japan Wireless you will pay 3 times the price they announce on their website. I chose to buy 2 sim cards for around 50€. That's what the offer said. What they don't tell you is you also pay this price when you activate the Sim cards. What they also don't tell you is that you have to cancel (even if the offer states 1 month only). If you don't, they'll charge you the next months too. And if you do cancel but it's after the 20th of the month, they charge you the next month also. So you end up paying triple the price announced (in that case, 150 instead of 50). So no, definitely wouldn't recommend that fraud.

stated speeds are 180 MBPS, what I actually got was 4 and up to 14 MBPS, a small fraction of what was promised, when I emailed customer service they blamed the speeds n COVID, absolutely avoid this scam company!!! There own web site has good reviews, I can only imagine they are fake reviews, this is the second time I rented from Japan Wireless, I hesitated the second time but they promised me that the first unit I rented must have had an issue and this new one would be faster speeds, it was exactly the same as 3 years ago, slow as molasses in January.

Wifi was very slow, even with premium package, same as many other recent complaints. Did what it had to but certainly not the speeds promised. The battery pack provided only could hold 3mins of charge, no biggie, just planned ahead. What was so rude, I got a threatening email saying I would be charged the full amount for the router 6 days BEFORE my rental contract period even ended. Was a mistake on their behalf but no sincere apology for sending the wrong email. Crap customer service for threatening an innocent customer then shrugging it off. Used other Wifi companies in Japan for many years and find them faster and also politer. Won't be a customer here again.

Have used Japan Wireless multiple times in the last few years for my trips to Tokyo. Without fail the device is always ready to collect from Narita Airport. Never had any connectivity or charging issues and process for returning the item before you fly home is quick and easy to understand. Super fast speeds on the WiFi router and has helped me out of multiple incidents of getting lost or needing to find a train time table. Would highly recommend and will use again in the future when we can travel again!

WiFi device delivered to hotel as requested. Unfortunately it wouldn’t charge but a replacement was sent out as soon as I contacted Japan Wireless who also refunded me for lost days. Replacement device worked very well with good coverage. Return was easy with pre-paid envelop. Good responsive company.

Extremely useful tool to have in a country where you don't speak or read the language. We could not have done without it. Pickup and drop-off (in a mailbox at the airport) couldn't have been easier. Two slight niggles: 1. the back-up battery was fairly useless 2. the service conked out one day early so we had to rely on train and local Wi-Fi. Still: very impressed and good value!

We rented the premium wi-fi. Pickup end return was very easy and the router with all the items (bag, battery etc.) worked excellent and was modern and of good quality.

During our vacation in Japan the Premium Wi-Fi (187Mbps) from japan-wireless worked perfect all other the country - in Tokyo, in the metro, On the beach, in the Japan Alpes, in Kyoto and more places. I can highly recommend this service. The Wi-Fi unit was delivered to the reception at our hotel in Tokyo and we handed it in to the reception in hotel in Osaka the morning we left Japan.
