Be careful, this is pretty much a sham organisation. I want to cancel my subscription, have tried phoning several times but each time I get a message saying that the lines are closed and open from 9am to 5.30pm, each time if rung has been between these times. The voicemail message says to leave a message and they will respond, they haven’t. I’ve emailed 3 times, each time I get an automated message stating they will reply within 24 hours, they haven’t. They have now taken another payment, as this is not a DDebit I can’t simply cancel it myself. I will now be seeking legal advise.

The prima facie evidence indicates a mistake, so a misunderstanding on my part: I was unaware that I was paying a monthly sub for the YP. While previously accustomed to seeing copy in my email box, I was unaware that I was PAYING a monthly subscription to proactively access the Newsquest/York Press website to read it. This was entirely 'NEWS' to me until this week's offer of newsletters, brought the issue, 'front & centre' requiring some (certainly surprised!) response by me. Self-evidently I am not happy, but to some extent, it seems that I need to open negotiations by accepting that, substantially, 'mea culpa'. In simple terms I have been paying circa £5 monthly, for a period yet to be determined, and seen (literally) nothing (so no benefit) in return, simply because of this misunderstanding! Naturally, even inevitably, I am not now what is known as ...a Happy Bunny!

I,ve been advertising with this company for years but no longer get any kind of response to the adds so i rang the company to cancel my advertising . They continued to place adds invoiced me and when i said i wasn't happy about paying threatened me with legal action and then moved my case on to a collection agency who have added their costs and are also threatening legal action . I don't know wether to feel sad or angry but i will see them in court . Andrew Stanley Ringley Car Sales

I chose to subscribe to your £5 for 3mths offer and clicked on the link. It led to a page which asked me if I wanted to 'subscribe' and I clicked on it. It then asked me for my email address and said it'd send an email. Which it did. It then asked me to enter a passcode, send it and complete the sub process. Which I did. At that point the screen told me I'd subscribed to CoGameStar a Cyprus based gaming company. It took £5 off me, refused to refund it. I wrote to the Editor of the Oxford Mail, not even an acknowledgement. The complained 3-4 times with screenshots of the stages which were ignored by you. First I was told I hadn't subscribed to the Mail (which of course I knew) and twice afterwards that the Mail has no connection with CoGameStar so that was the end of the matter. It's not the £5, it's the bother of being defrauded on my credit card and your refusal to see that it was your offer and the link you sent me that was the problem. Ultimately this is about trust, trusting the Oxford Mail and trusting the Oxford Mail to pay attention to what it's doing.

i answered an offer for 5 months subscription at GBP 5 from the EADT. but fortunately my bank sought confirmation of the transaction as they were trying to bill me for over GBP52 so i cancelled the whole thing . on querying it i was told we get authrisation for the annual subscription but only charge the special offer which makes no sense to me.

Paid for the newspaper from an app for a year. Now found out it’s not being supported anymore so it means I have lost out.

I’m a subscriber to the Bolton News. The subscription is for access to premium content and in an ad-light format. ie without the barrage of pop-up ads that make reading the regular website effectively impossible. However I still get regular pop-ups which regularly disrupt my reading. I reached out to try and resolve this but after months of discourse nothing has changed. The customer/technical help desk tried to help but seem to have no solution, the marketing people seem determined to advertise to me a service that I’m already buying, and even the Editor seemed to take the view that interrupting readers by promoting email newsletters telling them to look at articles that they’re already reading was somehow the future of digital marketing. There seems to be no ability or inclination to resolve this problem from the BN or Newsquest which just makes what should be a pleasant experience frequently very frustrating. I

I have limited vision and find it difficult to read some digital editions of magazines. I was given a digital edition subscription of Somerset Life and contacted Newsquest to ask if I could change a digital subscription to a print one and pay the difference. I had not downloaded the subscription and thought that it would be easy to change but, NO, Newsquest said this was not possible. I have downloaded the digital edition and can not read it. I have enjoyed Somerset Life before and am very disappointed with Newsquest.

I needed to flag an issue with missed deliveries and the customer care team came back immediately and with a satisfactory response. Well done.

First rate response to my call. The problem was quickly highlighted and resolved as 1:1 discussions with human beings often are. This made a very pleasant change from speaking with a pre-programmed robot and going round in circles!

We love our daily newspaper and have been customers for years. Our lovely delivery person is on time and pleasant each and every day. Recently I had to call the newspaper office as I did have a query. I was very impressed with the customer service I received and they sorted my concern there and then for me. I was also informed of their Newsquest Rewards programme, that I can use, Its brilliant. I used it for my Christmas shopping and ended up saving about £25. If you don't have it I can highly recommend it.

As an existing subscriber to Lancashire Life magazine I checked the cost of 12 months subscription prior to renewal. The cost on the subscription was shown as £35.99 so I went ahead and renewed my subscription. Once renewed a total of £39.99 was taken out of my bank. I submitted a question to the company asking why existing subscribers have to pay £4 more than new subscribers. I have now received a response, although my question has not been answered.

I emailed customer services after being without a digital copy of the Northern Echo for three days due to a technical problem. I'm still waiting for an acknowledgement and it's still not resolved. This is a very poor service and not what I expect from the Northern Echo.

I have been a customer of this company since 2014 and have received 5 star treatment from day one. In hail rain and snow the delivery driver has delivered my Daily Express on time, before 8am. I can't praise this company too much excellent customer service, I have no hesitation in recommending their newspaper delivery service.

I called the customer service team as I had not received my newspaper. They were polite and courteous and explained there had been an issue with my normal paper boy and that I would still receive one later that day as promised which I'm pleased to say I did.

(Sarah Berry, can you help us?) My 79 year old widow mother is getting escalating debt collection emails from Credit Controller @ Newsquest Many weeks of her knocking on doors to find where her lifeline papers have been going. She called the call centre and it was mutually agreed to stop. She sent letters, but then the letters keep coming... Addendum: After breaking through the hostile customer care front line we managed to get to the financial controller who admitted this was wrong and stopped the process.

If I could give a zero rating I would. My elderly father has his papers delivered by this company. They often are not delivered or arrive very late. Last Sunday and Monday they did not arrive at all, and my sister and I tried to report this on their misleadingly named helpline, which is automated. When my sister phoned the wait was apparently 30 minutes, so she asked for a call back, which didn't happen. When I phoned later in the day I was told the wait was 1 hour and 50 minutes!! She called again this morning was once again unable to get through. Needless to say my dad is cancelling his subscription. I would not recommend this "service".

When my local newsagent closed they sent all of our details to Newsquest. I contacted Newsquest and advised them I did NOT wish to have an account with them and asked them to delete all of my details in accordance with GDPR. This morning I have received a bill for £12.84! I do not owe them any money as they have never delivered me any newspapers. I have been unable to get through on the telephone. Clearly they have breached their GDPR obligations as they have retained my details without having a business need to do so, therefore I will be reporting them to the Information Commissioners Office. UPDATE- in the interest of being fair, I can report that Sarah from Newsquest has contacted me to confirm that the invoice has been cancelled and she will ensure my details are deleted. If I receive any further bills I will update my post.
