United Kingdom | 09 June 2023Now sorted, though it took a while. No overall increase in price - was £7.20 x 12 = £86.40. Now £2 x 12 + £4.80 x 13 = £86.40.

United Kingdom | 06 April 2023I ordered a magazine subscription for my father's Christmas present in November. He is still yet to receive any and no-one at Newsquest will reply to my e-mails. Avoid them!

United Kingdom | 02 April 2023I wanted to order some back copies of the Eastern Daily Press. I had to e-mail them, they replied with ring a number which I did. They took my details with a promise of "We will get some one to ring you to take payment and then we will post them onto you" Well after two further phone calls over 14 days, I was told, "We'll get back to you" "I'm chasing it" but still nothing. In the past you simply walked into Prospect House on Reuen Road in Norwich and bought them over the counter and if they were not immediate, you ordered them with an option of collecting or posting them out to you.You cannot do this any more. The latter option took a matter of about two days for the papers to arrive in the post. No, Newsquest have decided to make it as complicated as they can for the reader and one is getting fed up with empty promises. A pity because the publication its self serves the community well and in its columns it takes a balanced view in its opinions. However, customer services are poor

United Kingdom | 27 October 2022Fantastic company to do business with, really listened to what we needed as a company and gave us some great free hints and tips on other things we could be doing to help get the phone ringing. Would highly recommend

United Kingdom | 07 October 2022Disgusting company. My elderly and confused mother-in-law was persuaded to set up a subscription then they wouldn’t let her cancel it. She phoned them up, told the canvasser and even stuck a note on her door but still they kept delivering. Appalling, targeting vulnerable people living in sheltered accommodation.

United Kingdom | 09 April 2022As small advertisers with The Herald newspaper, we remember a good and effective service, when we placed a classified advert, 12 years ago. Unfortunately, the service now seems to have seriously deteriorated. We've spent hours, trying to make sense of telephone calls with silly excuses, and semi-literate emails. Eventually we became very annoyed indeed. After weeks, we've still not been able to place our advert. We keep trying, as we really do want to reach the helpful readership (we are Herald readers ourselves)! However, it is a very disheartening experience. How this 'service' seems to have ongoing difficulty in writing a few lines of text with clarity, and without errors (such as careless word repetition) is perplexing. They also seem unable to answer basic questions such as, 'Can you please give breakdown of costs?' It's delay after delay... Perhaps they don't want small advertisers. We've agreed advert. cost of £320+VAT - it's baffling, that they can't progress copy in a sensible, straightforward manner. It used to be a hassle-free process.

United Kingdom | 20 May 2021I have had my paper delivered to my house for approximately 15 years, at Xmas the papers stopped coming and I put it down to coronavirus lockdown so didn’t think much of it. I rang them today as after going through bank statements I could see they were still charging me, a total of £81.23 since papers stopped. I rang newsquest and a lady called Julie answered. She was very very rude, completely unhelpful and unprofessional. She’s a disgrace to their company. If I had been offered a reasonable explanation and a refund I would be happy but she said she had to go because she might get another call!! I’ve cancelled direct debit now and will wait and see what happens.

United Kingdom | 09 February 2021My mother is 91 and had to go into a care home; when she did so the newspaper delivery was cancelled and their final bill was paid promptly. Since then they have sent her letters and demands for payment for papers she has never received causing some upset. I have written to them about it but they never reply.

United Kingdom | 03 December 2020Worst company customer service I came across in my life. We have cancelled direct/debit by mistake and wanted to make it back, after 2 weeks unsuccessful attempts to get hold of them I decided that we just want to finish with them forever. All this time we were getting nasty letters saying, that’s we owe them money and we have to pay. But how? I would like to pay you and never hear from you again, but no phone numbers answers. I’ve tried all of them, accounts team etc. One lady called me back, took my details and promised that I’ll be contacted by customer service in 48hrs, what never happened. After 3 weeks I finally got hold of one lady and guess what she did? She said I’ll transfer you to another employee (they have discussed my case in front of me, while I was on the line) and I ended up talking to answer machine again, not employee. How does it happen? After that I called again, nobody picked up. I’ve left at least 6 voice messages on different phone numbers and nobody! called back. I’ve sent them emails too, but emails come back saying that it’s impossible deliver the email. Great company who positioning themselves as one of the best ones in UK in media 😂 Awful! You must be ashamed of that

United Kingdom | 11 September 2020It was good to see the article in the Wimbledon Times highlighting the struggles many customers are having the with travel arranger iglu / iglucruises. The breaches in the package regulations in not refunding customers within the required time frame needed to be exposed!

United Kingdom | 29 August 2019Hanson Roofing and Building Ltd is running full page advertisements in the Southend and Basildon Standard newspapers using the Home Improvement Protection (HIP) logo. HIP provides insurance backed guarantees for consumers BUT only if the trader is registered as a member. This trader is NOT a member, and using this logo is a breach of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. Both the Head of Content and a journalist who had written an article about rogue roofers operating in the area (how ironic) were contacted but were not interested or concerned enough to respond or do anything about the advertising in their paper that breached legislation and was clearly being used to deceive consumers. Clearly these newspapers were more concerned with protecting their advertising revenue than any duty they might have to readers/consumers who may be taken in by false advertising. SHAME ON YOU SOUTHEND/BASILDON STANDARD
