My wife and I are both retired and own a number of properties which we rent both in this country and abroad so the process of obtaining a BTL mortgage for a small apartment we recently purchased should have been straightforward. We supplied the usual documentary proof of income and notarised bank statements accepted by other lenders however the agent kept asking for additional proof of income such as "wage slips" and "pension slips"which we found rather odd and a bit frustrarting. He was nice enough but seemed rather inexperienced. Once we got over this particular hurdle everything seemed starightorward and we are generally satisfied.
