Ireland | 30 June 2024Hi We bought a new 3008 petrol in March 2019 from Johnson & Perrot Mahon Point in Cork. We were very happy with it finding it to be a very comfortable drive and had no problems with it. We have serviced it regularly firstly with the main dealer and then with our local garage who has been in the trade for years, does great work and really looks out for us advising of any work he thinks necessary. We took it for its most recent service in late April and he advised is that there were issues with the wet timing belts for 3008s and asked us to check with main dealer on when it should be replaced. We rang Johnson&Perrot and were advised it needed to be replaced at 200000km or 12 years. We told our guy this and he didn’t agree and strongly advised us to change at next service (100000km) which we agreed to as we trust him. On Wednesday, 12 June, my wife was driving and the car lost power and stopped without warning - no warning lights, nothing. We had it towed to our local guy who told us the engine was gone and needed replacing - most likely because shards had broken off the timing belt and prevented oil lubricating around the engine- it only has 92000km! He advised us to take it to Johnson & Perrot as we should not have to pay this cost ourselves - it’s not right given we have serviced it as required and correctly. We did and have been told our car is out of warranty since March but that they would contact Peugeot Ireland to see if they would help out with the repair costs with a good will gesture. They asked us to send on the details of our services which we did. We cannot believe this could have happened to a car with just 92000km (57000 miles) with full service history and especially after being told no need to change the timing belt until 200000km or 12 years back in January! This week the service manager from Johnson &Perrot, Greg Darmody, came back to us to say our car needs a new engine as the timing belt has failed and that Peugeot will not cover any of the costs which they quoted us at almost €7000. Apparently Peugeot put our case to their parent company, Stellantis, who make the puretech 1.2 petrol engine in our car, and they refused to cover any of the costs for them, so Peugeot in turn refused to cover any of our costs as the car is out of warranty since early March. This is so wrong! The car has only 92000km and we were told by the main dealer that the timing belt didn’t need to be changed until 200000km or 12 years - the service manager at Johnson & Perrot told us that’s still the recommendation from Peugeot! We had planned to change the timing belt at our next service around 100000km as advised by our local mechanic who services our car but then this happened - if we were told to change it earlier we would have done it. I have done some research online and issues with the wet timing belt in this engine are well known. We’re not going to let this go - it’s not right or fair for us and other owners where this is also likely to happen. All we want here is the be treated fairly. Thanks Dan

Ireland | 16 June 2024I brought my car for annual service plus call back . Rear assist light was coming on . The light was “gone” for two days post service but came back on . My car is booked in again to address same . For me this means taking half day annual leave as I drive between Cork and Kerry for work. I was lucky to be given the loan of a car for 1st service by a very nice lady named Christine .
