Gorgeous paint!

My girlfriend eventually convinced me to go for COAT paint for our first home. I did take some convincing because paint is paint, right? Wrong on three counts. First, it looks great, but maybe you get that elsewhere. Second, you do need less of it than you think. I was sceptical but in reality we had spare cans from the living room which we’ve used in the bedroom several months later. Still not the cheapest on the market, but this quality and coverage for that price is a good deal for sure. Third is really exceptional customer service. This is where COAT really stands out to me and why I decided to write a review. I have twice needed replacement cans - once for a can damaged in transit, and most recently for two cans that had been sitting around for a while and had gone clumpy. Most companies would not be willing to help with an order placed 6+ months ago. Even when they do, it’s a long and frustrating back and forth. COAT is just different. Sarah (COAT rep) and I exchanged two emails over less than 24 hours and the cans are already on their way. My previous experience with a different rep was the same. It’s helpful, it’s efficient, and I think it speaks to the culture at COAT that they choose to invest in customer relationships by approaching issues in a way that’s easy for me, even if it impacts their bottom line in the short term. To the COAT CS team & team leaders: many companies don’t bother with excellent customer service because it isn't easy or cheap. But it’s so clear that you guys are customer-oriented, solution-oriented, and that makes for a much more positive overall brand experience. No more convincing is needed. If you stick with this philosophy you’ll have my business for decades.

This paint is horrible! It is really patchy, despite multiple coats, and has really badly cracked and flaked in a number of areas. Looks awful. I also agree with other reviewers that it has a very strong smell. Also, for a company that claims to be environmentally friendly, I don't understand why each pot of paint comes in a completely unnecessary cotton bag with an unnecessary wooden stirrer. Seems like a complete waste of resources.

I adore this paint! Each colour comes out beautifully! You do need 2 coats and each time I used it I worried after the first coat I wouldn't have enough paint but the second coats takes a lot less paint and effort for amazing coverage. I painted my kitchen first with soft sheen pampas and went back for more and painted my living room with Pampas and Mr Clifton in Matt which is absolutely my favourite colour of all time. Quality is up there with farrow and ball and being slightly less cheaper which helps. I would recommend and will always use this paint going forward.

The 3 different colours I bought for accent walls are all beautiful, the paint is great to work with and the finish is perfect. I painted onto clean white walls and they needed two coats for the best result, so it would've been an expensive proposition for whole rooms. Too many emails though pressuring me to purchase after I'd bought the swatches - COAT you need to ease off with that!

So pleased with our recent purchase of paints for the bathroom and bedroom. The colours are beautiful. I especially like the fact that there is a thoughtful option of colours and not overloaded with choice, however the options are on trend and a good range. My decorator with 25 years experience was very impresssed and hopes that more customers use these paints. He rated the quality much higher than a high priced competitor. Only needing two coats, when other paints would need 3 coats. The swatches are fab too. Great service and easy no quibbles return for the tin of paint not needed.

As a professional decorator in the trade 25yrs + the emulsion range of paints I've used is top quality goes on a treat better than the normal trade paints I'm used to havent tried the eggshell yet like to get a tin to try

So glad we found COAT for our renovation. We used a few different brands around the house and then came across COAT when we were struggling to find more colours we liked. They have lovely shades and the paint goes a long way, we used The Drink in our living room and Sweatpants in a bedroom, I just wish we'd come across them at the start of the project! The peel and stick samples are a great idea too.

LOVE your paint, am a huge new fan. I decorate a lot and your Flat Matt is a superb finish. Brilliant coverage, I could easily have got away with one coat. The least spattery paint I’ve ever used! I've done two rooms with coat paint and both the product and service was excellent. For example, I ordered too many tins of one colour and needed to arrange a return. This was super quick and just a couple of text messages to arrange. Coverage was good and the finish is excellent

Fantastic paints, one small tin was enough to do 3 coats on 7 kitchen cabinet doors, with a third of a tin to spare! I had over ordered on paint and the team organised for the tins I didn’t use to be collected and gave me a refund. So efficient and helpful. Highly recommend.

Fantastic paint! Literally one coated three walls and it was done, looks fantastic also. I used this service after going to B&Q 3 time to be told they didn’t have my paint in stock. Will never go back now. Super happy with Coat.

I wish that I could include pictures of the state of my £40 can now. I spent hundreds on this paint and now I’m trying to touch up scuff marks and there’s absolutely no way of using it, it’s like cement.

UPDATED- Two weeks on from finishing the job we now have nearly a dozen places where this paint is now cracking. Such a poor product. My wife will be in contact to request a refund! What a waste of money and several days on my time. Original review- My wife went with this company as we needed a breathable paint for a room. Love the ethos of the company etc. However... First we got sent the wrong colour, finish and size. This was rectified very quickly which was great. However I was disappointed with the paint overall though. Looking through reviews, seems to be similar to what other people have reported. Smell - not sure how the VOC is close to 0 as as soon as I opened the can it smelt like the poly cement that I used for model kits as a kid, gave me the same level of headache after a couple of hours as well. Which has slowed the work down I would advise if you are susceptible to headaches from fumes I would look to alternatives. Cutting in - this has to be the most painful paint I've ever had used to cut in in 20 years of painting. Very unpredictable on the brush, caused by what seems like inconsistent viscosity causing further issues of drying and picking up half dried paint. Overall coat - again due to it being unpredictable on the brush means that getting a decent coat is very difficult unless you do 3/4 coats which I've had to do on some walls. Which adds further to timeframes and costs If I need to use breathable paint again I will definitely be trying a different brand. PS You guys need to tone down the marketing emails as well. Seriously getting one every single day! Why? Adds further to a poor opinion of this company

Ordered over the Xmas period when everyone else was on holiday the paint was mixed and arrived just after new year. Kitchen units repainted and look fabulous, the paint went on really well & didn’t smell the house out like normal paint does.
