The fees you charge the student on top of the fees you charge tutors is insane. If I didn't like my tutor I would have walked when he told me about the fees and how much he actually got from our sessions.

Wyzant is easy to use. I found a good Calculus tutor for my daughter. She can have her session at any location and the scheduling is flexible. Compared to other options for tutors, this is a good economic way to find a quality tutor.

Wyzant has been an absolute blessing to our son/family. We've very fortunate to have a great tutor that is very affordable, kind and so far, always on-call. The security of knowing the system is secure, payments are protected and if needed, we can order a background check. Math is our main issue and knowing that help is just a click away has really changed our son's outlook and he's not so concerned about his lessons. Cannot recommend them enough!!!

The tutor I found here is wonderful. The only drawback is there weren't many to choose from in my area. We were lucky that the one we found was a great fit.

Wyzant does not protect tutors from students' scams. A student booked an hour, asked me to fix up his paper and send it back to him. I refused and tried to work with the student. He would only text. I did as much as I could in an hour, and gave some free time in sending more suggestions about his work. He gave me a one-star rating. I thought it might have been because I didn't write his paper for him. But it is more than that. Wyzant has a policy of a free first hour, if the student is not satisfied with a new tutor. That was the scam. He set up one lesson and figured he get something for nothing. And he did, and he got away with it. Wyzant would not remove the low rating unless I deleted the lesson and returned the tutoring fee, which is a win-win situation for Wyzant: I reimburse them for the student's lost payment, and they keep their market base, which seems to be lazy students looking to plagiarize their way through an education. The messaging between the student and me evidenced his scheme to plagiarize my work. Plagiarism violates the regulations. Wyzant's "team" (never able to speak to them directly) ignored this evidence or did not care. I worked hard to achieve a BA, and I have too much integrity to be hiring myself out to lazy, dishonest students for a few coins. Wyzant just enables a failing educational system and bad parenting, and they are getting rich off of it. Regarding Wyzant's response: It was evident that the student wanted me to fix up his work and send it back by the texts he sent to me. I did what I could in the hour he booked, actually giving him about ten or fifteen minutes of free advice. If Wyzant opposes plagiarism, why allow the tutor to bear the brunt of this scam, while not censuring the student? I called and emailed several times about this incident. These nice apologies Wyzant and other companies leave on these sites mean nothing. Act accordingly to what you preach!
