I learned a lot I had not previously heard about autism. Especially about the 'why' of different behaviors. The class was very well prepared and presented.

As a part of our Mental Health Task Force, I had the privilege of receiving training on autism from Blue Ridge LLC. This was one of the most impactful, informative training classes I have ever attended. I would highly recommend anyone, first responders and otherwise, to seek this training and information. It could be life-altering when working with a special needs individual or family. A 5 star experience, for sure.

As a Flight medic/ ground medic, I have had several autistic patients over the years and I never had a true understanding of what a person with autism really went through. This class was very informative and changed my view on how to handle situations with them. I had flown out a 2 year old autistic girl that drowned in a pond, her dad found her in less than 5 minutes, she was unresponsive and lifeless, he had just taken his first CPR class a couple months prior and was able to resuscitate her. She is thriving without any long term deficits from the incident. Had he not been trained, the situation would have gone very differently. He turned his back for less than 5 minutes to wash some dishes, and she broke through the screen in the window and went straight for the pond on their property. It is a call I will always remember and an example I use when I teach my CPR classes to the public on its importance.

There was a lot of really good information. I also like how the presentation was split into different portions. I was able to understand and breakdown the information easier.

It is very hard to keep an officers attention and trust when having to critique other officer's interactions with people. This trainer did an excellent job of that, showing both sides of the coin, being empathetic to both sides, and teaching solid, usable skills to assist patrolmen with interacting with those autistic citizens.

This training broke down the process of understanding the "other" side of the spectrum by putting you in the shoes of someone who has Autism.

You took a ton of important information and delivered it in a clear and concise manner and followed up with very useful tools to help us remember in the field

There was a ton of information, that was organized very well, it was presented in a way that was easy to understand. This is a topic that I think can scare some people, but this training class made it seem simple when you know what to look for. I really enjoyed the class.

Very informative. I learned a lot from this training and immediately thought back to this summer when we were searching for a child with Autism. Thank you for this class.

Capt. Turning's presentation is spot-on for First Responders. He gives a great working definition of what Autism is and how it affects people. He also gives great instructions/recommendations for first responders. Having been involved in searching for missing persons with autism, I'm glad I took the class. I feel much more confident in my future encounters with people with autism.

This training definitely went above and beyond my expectations. Although I am over a 911 dispatch center and this was more geared towards LEO and Fire/Rescue, I was able to bring back a lot of helpful information to my dispatchers. It assists with questions to ask when a missing person with Autism is reported and we do a lot with the public and children/school groups so we can have a better understanding if approached by someone with Autism.

This training was great! I learned so much of the why to the what when it comes to Autism. This training will be so helpful in my personal life as I have friends and family with loved ones that are on the spectrum as well as super helpful in my field of work as a maternal and child health home visitor. One of the best trainings I have taken yet!

The presentation and presenter were perfect for this topic. Mr. Turning made the material easy to learn and provided personal experiences to connect with his students. I would strongly recommend this training to any individual who deals with children or adults with Autism.

As an ESE teacher at our local high school, THANK YOU!! During this training, I found myself not only being more understanding, but I also found myself feeling more drawn to my Autistic students. This training has been an eye opener for me and I feel I have been given a personal insight in to my students’ lives. I always thought I “knew” my students , but I never really did. Thanks to my training I now truly know my Autistic students, which only makes me love them more!

Great class. I learned so much that I was not aware of. As the Fire Rescue Chief I was challenged to learn new things not only for myself but also my personnel, to help with these vulnerable individuals. Necessary for all First Responders!
