Australia | 30 May 2023I bought an NUC computer (TNBi7) on 17-05-23. After being attracted by CentreCom’s claim that the PC is “a top notch computer”, I telephoned the company’s Sunshine store for more product information. I was told that I needed to purchase the operating system & a power cable separately. I purchased the PC with these two separate items. The charger came with a power cable. I therefore did not need to purchase it. I contacted Intel for assistance with their product. Intel advised me that the Home Edition of Windows 11 is available for free. Intel also noted that how the retailers configure the products is determined by the respective retailers. I therefore did not need to purchase Windows 11 Pro. I don’t know whether CentreCom’s understanding is that all of their customers prefer Windows 11 Pro. CentreCom could have given me the option to have the Home Edition of the Operating System installed for me by their IT personnel before I collected the NUC unit. I would have happily paid the relevant service fee for installation (of the Home Edition operating system and drivers) setting up. Why CentreCom chose to sell the operating system to me when the Hone Edition is available for free has not been explained to me. Importantly, the PC does not come with CD/DVD player. CentreCom sold to me Windows 11 pro on a CD. If the retailer had the operating system on a USB that should have been presented to me as a preferred option. Installation of Windows 11 from a CD on a PC that does not have a CD drive is a serious challenge, particularly if the PC fails to recognise bootable device with ISO. As per Microsoft’s installation instruction available online, one would need to download Windows 11 disc image (ISO) to be able to install Windows 11. I have created this image on an external HD and connected it to the PC via USB. I have tried unsuccessfully to install the Operating System more than 5 times each day for majority of the 13 days I have had the unit with me since I purchased it. I get the following error messages unfailingly: “a bootable device has not been detected”. I have exchanged a number of emails with CebtreCom over the issue seeking help with the installation. I have also emailed to them the Bios Configuration process images that appear on the desktop. 13 days after I purchased the PC for time-sensitive University education (including for a major assignment that is now due in a few days) CentreCom staff have not helped. During my telephone conversation with CentreCom staff yesterday, I was informed that I could take the unit to one of their stores and pay $90.00 to have the operating system (and the relevant drivers) installed. CetreCom’s excuse is that I purchased the product as “Click & Collect” and that I had not interacted with any of their sales team members prior to my purchase. While I purchased the PC via “Click & Collect”, I did speak with one of their sales staff members and seek their advice prior to the purchase. CrntreCom staff has replied in writing stating that I have not spoken with their sales staff prior to my purchase. This is counterfactual. I have sent them image of the call log taken from my iPhone which shows outgoing call to their number that lasted 7-minutes. I have not received acknowledgment of their erroneous position on this. If I had known the computer is not a plug and play” I would not have purchased the product. Unless I create half a day to travel to one of CentreCom’s stores and wait around until they complete the installation & setting up job, I would not be able to use the PC. I believe CentreCom could have done a better job to prevent the loss of precious time and the frustration I experienced. They could have told me that the Home Edition of the Operating System is available for free and that they could installed it for me for service fee. Once CentreCom realised that this opportunity was lost, they could have provided me with online assistance (via Video link, for example) or help via telephone to solve the installation & setting up problem. From my experience with the NUC11TNBi7, I have formed a strong view that PCs that require installation of the Operating System and drivers should be presented to the market with clear and comprehensive information. In the least, the retailer should distinguish between IT technicians that purchase and sell forward such PCs from endusers with little programming knowledge. TWO WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THE PRODUCT - I received an overwhelming support from Intel. - While the logistical burden of dropping it in the morning & collecting it before COB the same day made it extremely hard for me, Clayton store had agreed to set it up. - I spent the past three days learning Bios configuration and eventually resolved the issue around midnight yesterday - Nonetheless, I cannot recover the 2wks I lost

Australia | 25 May 2023On Friday 1st March 2019 it was extremely nice of them to swap the Seagate Firecuda 1TB 2.5 Hard Drive over to a Crucial MX500 1TB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm Internal SSD for $85 so I could boot my MacBook in seconds and run apps much faster than ever before. The staff were kind and thoughtful to me and the service was amazing.

Australia | 11 January 2023I purchased a monitor which failed contacted the local store who said 4 week turn around but to call the support number and see what they can do. At first they seemed helpful but it quickly changed. Have sent photos of the issue and offered to take into store expressed how important a quick resolution is to me to have it sorted all I got was an extremely rude, spoke over me without letting me even finish a sentence and non caring response, asked to speak with someone else but apparently no one else there can help and every manager or team leader at centrecom wasn’t at work at the time and that I have no choice but to wait 2 weeks for a call back from a manager and the 4 weeks to have the screen assessed. No wonder the centrecom turns off reviews where they can. The manager of the warranty department has responded to my email however he hasn’t even bothered reading any of my questions. I asked to speak to the complaints department and it’s the SAME person who manages the warranty department… I’ve offered to just buy a new monitor and be given a refund once the warranty process is complete no response, I’ve called twice in 2 days one of those time was an hour phone call.

Australia | 09 January 2023I have to say after reading some of these reviews I was shocked as I CANNOT relate! Centre Com built me an amazing $6000 custom designed PC. Not only was it quickly built, they stayed in contact with me the whole time and they were even happy to oblige my custom design requests (M.2 ports, cabling, RGB ect). In saying that if you are going to make a large purchase with your CARD, verification will be necessary, make large payments via transfer if you can. This process of verification helps companies avoid FRAUD. As we all know it is a SERIOUS problem.

Australia | 07 January 2023Just to make things clear I am not a new customer to this mob. I ordered a laptop from them with express shipping and after my card was verified by their on line verification system the payment went through without a hitch, but no payment receipt details were received by email. Even though payment went through no problems, a little while later an email came through saying I must supply additional verification and a photo copy of my liecence etc. NO WAY IN HECK WAS I DOING THAT I jumped on the phone and called them and they said it was necessary as i ight be a scammer, this is even after full payment weas processed. Their terms and conditions do not state this is required and in fact is an additional safety risk to me, this in itself is placing your privacy to a greater risk then necessary. After a heated call it was clear I wasnt going to sort this out on the phone so I demanded a refund then hopped in the car and drove 9 plus hours to Melbourne and fronted them face to face the following morning. The person who attended to me was quiet reasonable and seemed genuine and willing to help me. Once he checked my order details he was rather confused why this happened, as they already have my details form previous transactions. This is where they failed to protect me and my privacy again, they didn't ask for any sort of ID Varification especialy being a intestate visitor before showing me the screen with all the details. We both saw that for some reason my details were marked HIGH RISK, when I asked why they couldn't provide a reason at all based on history etc. So without any legal reason I was marked as HIGH RISK, this is an insult and I think falls into the category of discrimination. At this point I asked if they had the item in stock there and they said yes so I bought it there and then as it was a genuine low price. I cant tell people not to shop there but based on other reviews here and my own experience I wont be dealing with Centrecom ever again nor will I recommend them to anyone in the future. I have prepared a full report and formal letter of complaint and concern to the Victorian ombudsman and the ACCC.

Australia | 24 December 2022Centre Com had the audacity to accept my order, charge my mastercard and then demand I give them a photo of my mastercard, a photo of a utility bill with my name and address and a photo of my drivers license before anything would be sent to me......outrageous!

Australia | 16 December 2022Bunch of liars who just wants your money. Avoid if possible as company is dishonest. Wish I ordered from PCCG now.

Australia | 09 December 2022Pretty sure they haven't even sent my item (after 2 weeks) and are blaming AusPost on it being "ready for processing". I've spent thousands with CentreCom, but after this I might just be done ever using them again.

Australia | 06 December 2022Ordered parts shipped to Brisbane. Almost a month and still not arrived. Took them two weeks to just send the package...

Australia | 28 October 2022I would give them a 0 if possible. I don't usually write reviews but am warning people DO NOT to use them. My experience was similar to the previous bad review. The money was taken from my Paypal account which they said they could not verify and asked for 3 lots of personal identification before they would send the order. I would not send the personal information as it could expose us to fraudulent activity. After 45 minutes on the phone I discovered that the person was impossible to deal with and am now left waiting for Paypal to sort out getting my money returned. Save yourself the stress and buy elsewhere.

Australia | 29 September 2022I placed an order online for a 3080ti last night though paypal - I picked centre com because it was $50 less than everywhere else - and got an email this morning asking for personal documents (e.g bank statement/utility bill and photo id/drivers license) because they claimed my paypal account isn't verified. I called paypal to ask what to do and they said my account is verified, the request is weird and to call the company to ask about it more. I called centre com and the employee was pushy and robotic, essentially just repeating what was said in the email. I called them back after sending an email to cancel the order and the employee continued to be pushy, asking again for the information after I requested to cancel the order. Eventually he told me he cancelled the order, now I'm waiting for a refund. Please be careful about sending personal documents over the internet (especially through something as insecure as email), your identity is not worth saving $50. I thought they would be fine as they have multiple in person stores but the online experience is horrible.

Unhappy customer
Australia | 08 September 2022Please do yourself a favour, do not buy from this store. Their price is not as competitive and worse after sales experience. Forget about warranty if you buy from this store and claiming warranty is almost impossible. Your device need to be on their system which they can simply make it up. I am talking about small items like smart power strip which cost $35. Buy from more reputable store or larger retailer chain store.

Australia | 19 July 2022Purchased multiple units for pc build over 24 months ago once received built pc only to find motherboard indicating cpu fault sent in motherboard for testing to receive it back tested and no fault rebuilt pc to find same problem fault resent back with cpu for both items to be tested both passed and resent back rebuilt pc to find problem still there rang and spoke with technician to be advised to send back all operating components which I did motherboard, cpu, psu and memory all tested and this time found that the motherboard was faulty sent board to manufacturers. With board repaired items sent back when received found that cpu was missing when inquired to whereabouts of cpu they said it was not sent and received their in the end they reckon they have investigated the whole issue and are adamant they did not receive the cpu which I did actually send but hey what chance does anyone have in proving that 18 months of wasting time sending components back and forth not to discover the problem lies with the motherboard which was sent the first time around by itself but amazingly passed testing or did it was it even tested in the first place I had to compromise other components in sending them in to be tested at the request of these guys only to have one lost, miss placed or taken for their own or to be resold the cpu in question cannot be repurchased as it is discontinued and other cpu are. It compatible with the board so it’s been a complete loss with no reasoning or compensation just plain you didn’t send it well I did the same can be said for them taking it losing it or misplacing it either way it was sent and now is gone their protocols and procedures are flawed, to many people are involved with your items when in their duty of care, accountability is missing and there is holes for things to just disappear and know one has any recollection of what happening in the end they just put it back on you the customer that it was not sent when it shouldn’t have needed to be there in the first place as the item was not faulty at all and in the first experience the motherboard should have been tested properly in the first place to have the problem found they have lost a customer in myself but it’s to know worry to them I am only one in many but hopefully my experience and words are adhered to by other consumers in ultimately making your decision to purchase elsewhere. What once was a great business when it was just the sunshine store ultimately has gotten too big has to many different people handling customers items and has too many holes in their procedures for things to go wrong or happen be very careful when dealing with these guys.

Australia | 17 July 2022You go to a store because you are not certain what to buy, to be treated as an idiot by rude, arrogant staff is very annoying. Do not visit their store in Clayton, plenty of other businesses deserving of your money that will provide friendly, helpful service.

What Ever
Australia | 10 July 2022I visited the Nunawading store today with the intention of purchasing approximately $2k in value of Ubiquiti WiFi equipment, however after standing watching two staff behind the counter continually personally chatting for at least 10-15 minutes, oblivious to any customers in the store requiring assistance, I walked out in disgust. As I passed by the counter to the exit, one individuals said, “are you all good mate”! One of the three in the store at the time was serving a customer. The two standing idly chatting are a unnecessary overhead, poorly trained and supervised in customer service. I will not be returning, spending a cent in or recommending this poorly run organisation and in fact I will make it my business to promote my poor treatment and experience. These two certainly would not be working for my companies. Worst customer service and attention to customers needs. Want to be ignored? Then go to this low end establishment where they are more interested in chatting to each other! Went to Scorptec Clayton after walking out of Centre com and they actually greet you with a smile, make eye contact, are genuinely interested in your needs and provide more than enough good advice and to had what I wanted. Don’t waste your time, money on the Centre com non deservers!
