All I have to say is just because you have done business with a company for over 10 years, don't get lazy in reviewing the numbers. CIT will rip you off every opportunity they get. Thank God for Fundera. Now I can shop everything. Not sure why CIT would get anything above a 2 star rating. I guess they only rip off their existing customers.

I am a small business (2 employees) and financed a Brother Direct to Garment machine through Direct Capital (DC). DC faithfully took the payments out every month and I paid for their insurance. I paid for 18 months with no problems. On Nov 17th my machine suffered major damage and I file a claim. From there on out I got treated poorly. They delayed the claim which caused even more damage to the machine. (WHICH I EXPLAINED TO THEM ON DAY ONE WOULD HAPPEN). Then paid one contractor that Brother suggested and he was a nightmare and didn't fix machine completely and never came back to finish the job. And DC and ASSURANT would not assist me, said it wasn't their problem. So I drained my savings of $2500 and tried to salvage my machine but it didn't work completely. DC and Assurant insurance REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME. Even though I sent written documentation from EXPERTS that what I did had to be done. Lisa L with DC kept telling me about "their bottom line" MEANTIME DC kept taking out the monthly amount I owed them and said it wasn't their problem that I was losing business. I ask for a deferment while the claim was open but was told if I missed a payment they would put a lien against my business. After 3 month of arguing and sending emails to everyone (including S LYNCH) Assurant Insurance (which DC sells to you) said they were paying the machine off but would NOT REIMBURSE ME ANY MONEY - not one penny of the $2500 or the 3 $400 payments that I made while trying to get them to do their jobs. So I now own a broken machine - loss revenue - and a drained bank account. BUT DIRECT CAPITAL GOT PAID. So if you value your business don't use DC - THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR MONEY. If they sink a small business to make a buck SO BE IT! #Directcapitalisshady #assurantinsuranceisshady

Direct Capital has made the loan process easy from day one, we have no complaints. During the process of paying off our loan we worked with Isaiah Knight, Contract Adviser in Client Relations. We felt confident that he understood what we needed and that he would follow through. Isaiah answered our list of questions before we even asked. He explained the process and assured us of when and how he was going to handle the pay-off details. He also did something most customer service reps hesitate to do, he gave us his full name and contact info. The morning of the day Isaiah told us he would follow up, he did. We were having a lien release sent to a buyer and Isaiah cc’d us in on the FedEx tracking notices so we would know that the lien was received. Direct Capital has been great to work with and Isaiah's knowledge, friendliness and competence has ensured that when we buy more equipment we will be using Direct Capital again. Isaiah's a rare find these days when most do as little as possible to get by, he goes above and beyond; he’s an asset to Direct Capital!

We are a medical practice and are very disappointed with Direct Capital. Make sure to read every single letter in the fine print. They take advantage of small businesses. I would recommend anyone looking for financing to seek a loan at a Bank or Credit Union instead. We tried to re-finance with a Bank at a better rate and, because of the very fine print, we are stuck with n enormous and unfair penalty.

I am not a person who leaves a lot of reviews, but if you're thinking of using Direct Capital, you should know a couple caveats: 1. After you sign up for the loan, you will be required to provide a special Certificate of Insurance (COI) to show that you're insuring whatever they funded. This is not a normal COI, but a special COI, which means that your insurance company has to be able to put a lot of very specific requirements that aren't normally required on a normal COI. There's an almost certain chance that your insurance company won't be able to meet this requirement (mine couldn't), and I honestly think Direct Capital counts on this as an income stream. My loan interest started at 10%; however, when you add the cost of their insurance, the equivalent interest rate exceeded 37%. 2. Direct Capital does not provide detailed financial statements to its customers. You will not know how much they are taking out per month, or how much of that is principal, interest, and fees. They claim that they'll provide it on request via email, but I've requested this same information for several months and I've given up trying. I basically cannot reconcile my accounting, because I don't know how much went to what. 3. Their customer service department is wired to provide ambiguity. They refuse to provide account details in any form, and they say that it's the customers "responsibility" to do the math themselves and figure out how their money is being applied to the loan. So, why two stars? Simple: DC is a company that manages to straddle the space between legitimate bank loans and cash advance scammers. They WILL take more money than you bargained for and they WILL be frustrating to work with... BUT, but.. if your company cannot get a legitimate loan, they are the cheapest option among the alternative lenders. In other words: among all the conniving, cheating loan outfits on the internet, they are probably best-in-breed. **You can decide if the headache is worth the cost savings, but my recommendation? Use a credit card; it's cheaper and you know where your money is going.**
