United Kingdom | 02 September 2024Winchester White let out a flat to us with rising damp and mould. All the damp marks had recently been painted over. After being in there 24 hours we realised water was running down the walls and all our possessions were getting ruined (also waking up wheezing). 10 months later, we have finally got the landlord to end our contract and give us back our deposit (through the use of a solicitor). As soon as we said we wanted to end our contract (we lived there for 2 weeks, well my husband did I moved out after 24 hours as my asthma was too bad), and the landlord would not engage, Winchester White, after offering us an end of tenancy agreement that involved paying the landlord some money for 12 months, withdrew from the situation and refused to help us anymore. We had a number of conference calls with them where they were aggressive and rude, and we were made to feel like we had done something wrong (we viewed the property at night once, and were only allowed to be in there for 5 minutes- had to take it due to completion date of my house sale, but obviously you cannot tell if there is rising damp in 5 minutes). Avoid at all costs for your sanity’s sake, and to avoid huge solicitor costs.

United Kingdom | 27 August 2024Monika Rae is the most unkind, unempathetic, and inhumane person I have ever come across. We sought her help during the most stressful times in my life, where both me and my wife lost our jobs, and at the same time, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. We had to leave the property as we had no financial means to afford the rent. We requested her to not penalise us for early termination. However, she was not only rude and abrasive throughout our interactions, but she also attempted to charge us more than we owed. She was devoid of any compassion or sympathy, had no regard for our difficult situation, and seemed solely focused on extracting more money from us. Even my landlord expressed frustration with the agency and mentioned plans to switch to another. Winchester White is one of those letting agencies that will use any unscrupulous tactics to squeeze more money out of its customers. I strongly advise everyone to avoid them. --------------------------------------------------------------- Added 16/01/2025 Winchester White's response to my original review below not only lacks empathy but is riddled with misrepresentations of the situation. Their intention is to deflect responsibility rather than acknowledge the grievances raised. To clarify: 1) While they claim to "sympathize" with our circumstances, their actions and the tone of communication, told a very different story. Rather than assisting us during one of the most challenging periods of our lives, they consistently treated us with abrasiveness and insensitivity. 2) Their statement that the early termination fees were "reasonable" is false. They attempted to charge us more than what was owed, which feels less like following terms and more like an attempt to exploit a vulnerable situation. They ended up making double the amount by charging me, as well as the new tenant. 3) Their so-called "gesture of goodwill" allowing extended time for payment was not a favour; it was the least that should have been done given the severity of our hardships. Their decision to involve an external party, while claiming to offer extended time, shows a complete lack of understanding and fairness. Their failure to acknowledge and take accountability for the distress caused by Monika Rae’s handling of this matter is appalling. In summary, I stand by my original feedback, and advise everyone not to avail any services from Winchester White, especially Monika Rae.

United Kingdom | 14 August 2024I am compelled to write this review after a series of unsettling interactions with Winchester White Estate Agents, based on my personal experiences and reinforced by concerning reports from the property ombudsman citing them for 'Aggressive Behaviour.' During my engagement with this agency, particularly with an agent named Jake, I found the service provided to be highly unsatisfactory. Jake exhibited exceedingly aggressive sales tactics that felt pushy and manipulative from our initial interaction. When I expressed reluctance or the need for additional reflection time, his demeanor would escalate from insistent to confrontational, creating an uncomfortable, high-pressure environment. Moreover, it has come to light that Winchester White has pursued commission and other fees in scenarios where clients, such as myself, were not evidently obligated to make such payments. Such practices indicate a concerning lack of ethical standards and disregard for fair customer treatment. Given these experiences, coupled with the property ombudsman's explicit warnings, I urge potential clients to steer clear of engaging with Winchester White Estate Agents. There are numerous other firms that uphold higher standards of integrity and client respect which may serve your interests in a more professional and courteous manner. Please consider this review as a cautionary tale in navigating your estate agency selection.
