I started the tech in surgery program at Medcerts in November 22 and finished March 2023. Overall the curriculum is great . I say that because I passed my exam the first try, but it is also because I worked hard and studied. My career coach Jennifer Michael’s was awesome, helpful and supportive. What I have a problem with is that I have interviewed with over 6 companies and not one has hired me due to no experience or hands on training. Might I add, this is a very demanding field and they will not hire me, even with a medical background of 12 years that I have. I have also reached out to Denise Moore about possible clinical sites and every time I get the same answer which is nothing yet, but I will call you next week. Then the next week it’s the same answer.I received an email just today with that same answer. At this point I am frustrated because I feel like I wasted my money on the program and will be reaching out for a refund on what I have paid so far. I’m not going to pay for something that is useless. I feel like I’m being strung along to keep hope of getting placed on a job just so I can continue making my payments. I can’t continue paying if I don’t have a job to afford to continue making the payments. That was the whole point of starting the program, to do something I enjoy and make money. Looks like I’m stuck with a useless provisional certification. I need 125 cases to be fully certified but can’t get clinicals or a job. I hope I can get someone to help with this issue. If not all I have to say to people trying to take the tech in surgery program is don’t take short cuts. Go to a REAL surgical tech program that offers hands on and that will place you in clinicals !!

I am very blessed to be trained and have a chance and the opportunity to succeed in a great career at RBT. I am grateful that I will have the knowledge to have patience and understanding of all ages. To provide the best and to be firm and to correct good behavior in a positive environment.

I have completed my courses, I need to retake my exam, and I have landed a job as a Surgical Tech with the wonderful help of Hannah Harshman my career coach. However, my advisor Nicole Macfarlane has been extremely unhelpful throughout this experience. I did not require any assistance completing my courses and so through the 18 weeks I only spoke with Nicole once. She took a greater interest when I had my exam- we discussed how prepared I felt the first time and how she could assist me with additional study materials for my retake. She stated that would follow up with a CST on key study points and get back to me. After several weeks I followed up (May 11th) and didn't hear back, then several more weeks went by so I requested confirmation for her email address. She confirmed her email the same day June 5th but went two more weeks with no reply so I asked for additional confirmation June 16th. Now on June 22nd she has asked me to schedule an appointment with her so we can “chat about any questions or study material”. I am frustrated with this experience because I wanted the exam done as soon as possible while the information was fresh and felt that the study guide provided did not accurately reflect the the material on the NCCT exam. I also struggled getting interviews because having a TS-C is not desirable compared to a CST and I feel that Medcerts was misleading with employers potential interest, stating that Surgical Techs can be hired in OR with NO prior experience or certification. My current employer is taking me as a student and giving me several months to learn from CST’s before they potentially offer a full time position. I do not have job security at this point and I am not properly prepared for the role I have.

I love how I work at my own pace and sometimes even work ahead so if there is an appointment I can take care of it. Or even for a vacation

I recently spoke with my success advisor Garith Parker and had a great experience in building a full resume and cover letter. We were on the phone for at least 3 hours constructing a full resume and cover letter to perfection so that I could apply it to my job applications. He was very compassionate and patient with me in developing these 2 things and I am well pleased to say that he is my career success advisor. I highly recommend him to anyone that needs help in finding a job and preparing you for your next steps in your career.

When I first heard of the program I was interested right away, although I wasn’t sure that I could find a career that would suit me. After requesting an adviser, Eddie Switkowski reached out to me and made sure to guide me through every step and he also helped me find a career that suited me the best while answering every question I had . Now I will start my classes soon and I know I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t because of the help I got from my adviser and the program!!

Wynter made the enrollment process a great one. She was kind, patient, and very informative. I was undecided at first, she said do your research and I can call you back at a later date and she did just that. I felt like she genuinely cared about my decision process and wanted to make sure that I chose the best decision for me. I feel like she was hand picked by God to help me and I am excited to start the program! Future surgical tech

I’ve only just signed up, but the process was easy and I feel taken care of. A coordinator will contact you to make sure it’s a good fit for you - I appreciate that they don’t want me to just give them money and then call it a day. He also said that there would be someone to help me with any questions I have on the course material, and someone to help me freshen up my resume and help me look for jobs in my area! If anyone from MedCerts is reading this - my coordinator was Mark Ybarra and he did a great job.
