My opinion is that's tinhat Insurance company is Freud they are bustad i have my Insurance with them more then a year i lost my Phone i give them provide my device worth £800 you know what they bustad said your Phone is used you buy from cex yes i brought from cex brand new A condition but they bustad no give me my claim my advice to everyone no make it Insurance with this froud company thanks

I've never come across a more deceitful and underhand company than tinhat and the entire direct group. The company motto is 'profit first'. Quite happy to take my premium then messed me around for months after I had to make a claim. I am still without a working phone and having to take them to the financial ombudsman. Be warned: they will ignore you and come up with excuse after excuse. I would give zero stars if possible. Avoid the whole direct group

10 days since I sent my device for their so called “inspection” there’s 0 communication whatsoever, several emails with no response, tried to call them 2 days in a row, requested call back-nothing. Finally got through today and was promised to get tracking number-nothing. Looks like it’s a scam company and I should treat it as a theft?

I would not recommend this insurance. They really messed my son around, first they offered him a replacement phone, then promised to send an email which never arrived. Finally when we called to find out what was happening they offered him a cash settlement which was 50% less than the phone was worth. I then had to call for my son to find out why they were offering a cash settlement when they promised a replacement. A manager then agreed to listen to the calls to find out if my son was offered a replacement. The next day I received a call to say he would get a refurbished replacement. When taking out the insurance my son believed he was taking out a policy which would replace any lost device with a new phone. I will be cancelling this insurance as my daughter pays about the same amount for insurance which replaced her phone for new the next day after it was damaged.

My daughter had her I phone x stolen. After nearly a month we’ve been told they will only give us £600 this is after we paid £100 excess. Not happy at all.

My son got his mobile phone stolen whilst on holiday to magaluf. This was only in the last few weeks and already he’s been told he’s to get a new phone ! Brilliant customer service !! Thank you so much tinhat and I have recommended to family and friends, what a great company to deal with...thanks again from one relieved mum !!

My phone was fixed by cowboys after paying monthly for over a year the fix I’ve had for replacement screen is garbage. Phone won’t press correct buttons right off and touches keys I’m nowhere near

Made my first gadget claim ever and was worried as a lot of reviews of this insurer are really bad here. Made my claim three days ago and was asked to provide ownership and loss report which I did. Didn’t hear back so called this morning and was referred to (directgroup) who provides insurance payouts. I spoke with Hayley and she was great and efficient she processed my claim on the phone and took £75 excess insurance. My watch was only covered for £400 when the new watch was going to cost £429 so they gave me a £400 voucher from curry’s and advised me to buy it by paying extra £30 myself which was fine. I received my voucher after 30 mins and I am happy. Thanks for sorting out very quickly. I would recommend them for gadget cover.

I have had a great experience with Tinhat and wanted to write a review for others. I lost my mobile phone whilst on a long weekend in Spain. I told the company on monday and had my new phone by Thursday. Everyone I spoke to over the phone was extremely helpful. I spoke to Oscar P and Gemma W so I hope they get recognition for excellent customer service. They were exceptionally clear and helpful. I paid extra for loss cover so I knew I was covered. Make sure you take out the correct insurance and if you ever have the misfortunes I did I hope you get the same service I did.

Tin hat received my claim Saturday as I had a water damaged phone. By Monday they had answered me and given me address to send it to and took my 50 pound excess. Wednesday I sent it recorded delivery. Thursday I had an email that it was irreparable and they'd be sending me a replacement. Friday I had it by 5pm tracked delivery. Brilliant service, no hardship or follow up needed. They have done this in the past as well. I'll definitely stay with them!

Very poor service from this insurance company The communication is very poor and after chasing them up they give a poor reason for not paying out on your claim I purchased a brand new iPhone unopened still sealed from the money shop via ebay at Christmas I then took out cover of the device via tinhat About 3 weeks ago i was on the tube in London As i was getting out of the carrage someone bumped into me and the phone dropped and screen cracked I make a claim and send them the details of purchase They emailed me back “we will get back to you in 2 days 3weeks later I chased them up for update they say the iPhone xs is not covered because I brought it from the money shop and it was second hand I sent them a receipt and the ebay advert that I purchased it from That states the iPhone xs is brand new sealed. they had over 20 for sale all sealed and unlocked Now they want me to ask the money shop to provide proof where they getting the iPhones from I shouldn’t have to do all of this All tinhat have to do is go on the Apple website and go to the warranty section and put the imei number in and they can see the activation date is Xmas day the same time it was purchased 3 days before Christmas This itself proves it is brand new Now when I call them I just get passed around from section to section so I get frustrated and hang up!!! Not sure what I’m still paying them for?

Awful experience. Registered my claim Sunday night online. Then spent had a further 6 calls each time telling me to get extra information before they would review my claim. They then refused stating I hadn’t paid for a premium policy to cover loss. Do not use their website on a mobile phone. It looks like they only have one package- which I took. It only states in the small print of attached t&c’s it is not covered loss. Took me two days for them to tell me that even though I had stated for the start it was lost. Absolutely waste of money and set up to try and stall you from claiming. Terrible service.
