United Kingdom | 18 February 2019So far everything is fine, the pricing is competitive and communication has been solid. I have just made a claim for the first time as I've cracked the front and back of my S8. They dealt with my claim very quickly and gave me all the information I needed they've made this experience very smooth and easy for me ... Now I just await my device :)

United Kingdom | 04 February 2019I had policy for my mobile with tinhat insurance unfortunately lost my device two weeks back I went for claim n fulfill all requirements then I've got the call that I do not have cover for lost but i had a comprehensive policy they kept denying then I checked my inbox coz I had policy from last two year luckily got the email clearly showing loss cover included then they sent me email for proof of uses that I've already given them. I phoned them why they r dragging so long without any reason now they start saying they ve not got that device in stock they can pay me cash £129.wud you believe they r charging me excess for original price I paid £412 and paying me refurbished value £179 after excess £129 shocking Do not go for this company actually it's a big tym stress on both ways once you do not have device secondly they are trying to get away without paying you anything. Do not believe them what they are saying on their site.

United Kingdom | 07 January 2019Initial start of policy was fine, good price and explained well. Fast forward to now (just over a year later) I find out that I have been paying 35% more for the last few payments without any notification. Documentation received when I started the policy never mentioned any such increase in cost to be expected either. Upon calling (and going through to supercoverinsurance) they claimed I was notified by email in advance of this price change, They told me a date and time they sent it so I checked my inbox and junk folder and couldn't find such email, whilst waiting on hold I even checked my inbox backup from the night they claimed I was sent the email to check junk or trash in case I had accidentally deleted it when it arrived, and it turns out I simply never received the email at all. Cancelling the policy was hassle-free though...

United Kingdom | 02 January 2019having previously dealt with Debenhams insurance tinhat are brilliant. They ask to block your phone and proof which is fair. Debenhams said I needed proof of ID, utility bill, passport, proof or usage and ownership and many more hoops resulting in a claim that lasted 3 months!

United Kingdom | 30 June 2018i had cracked the screen on my samsung s8, had to pay £75 excess but was impressed with how quickly the phone was replaced and delivered. They must have thought it would be too costly to replace so it was replaced with a new unit. The communication could have been better but Ignore the other reviews, their service was very efficient.

United Kingdom | 06 June 2018This company goes out of its way to make the claim process difficult. they will need - proof of purchase (they were given the imei number of the phone when i insured it and weren't interested where it came from ) They will require proof of usage (a bill is not proof of usage you will need to request an actual document from your service provider) They also require lots of other little bits of info. Then if your lucky enough to have your claim accepted they will want your phone for 5 days to inspect it. If they then decide that this is covered then they will send you a second hand phone. When i questioned why you have to jump through so many hoops and why such a poor turn around the customer service advisor simply said " you get what you pay for " There are lots of companies out there that have a much more no nonsense approach to insurance claims. tinhat, more like tinpot. heed my warning and do not get ripped off like i did.

United Kingdom | 04 May 2018They make it extremely difficult to proceed with claims. I hate to give bad reviews but people must be warned against using this terrible company with abhorrent service.

United Kingdom | 05 February 2018Absolutely dreadful customer service. Once you buy the policy, they are not interested. They will take days to reply to emails and they will look for any excuse not to pay. Consider other policies, Tin Hat was recommended to me so I only briefly read the small print without realising that even if your phone is brand new and under manufacturers warranty, they expect you to send it to them instead and they will "endeavour" to fix it with original parts "where possible" DREADFUL!!!

United States | 18 December 2017Terrible service, wouldn't trust. Recently made a claim and process was terrible. Started relatively well and received a replacement within 10 days (still quite long but not the end of the world). However this replacement phone didnt work. Then it started to go down hill, as once I sent the broken replacement back, I was it would take 2 weeks to receive a new working one, which they were going to send to the wrong address. They had no tracking information so weren't able to tell me why I hadn't received my phone when I should have. Called for the next three days asking for any news or if they could get the tracking info, heard nothing. Requested three times a call back from a manager. Again nothing. Told a week after my phone was supposed to be delivered it was going to be delivered in a few days, I then received it the next day (and to the right address!). They clearly have no idea of what's going on and don't care about customer service. I would look elsewhere or pay an extra £1 a month for a better service
