United States | 09 September 2021UPDATE: I purchased FOUR DNA sequencing packages, which included one month of Silver membership from Sequencing.com for myself, my husband, and my two kids. Now that I have had a chance to use (or try to use) the service, I have some very definite problems with it. (1) MISLEADING ADVERTISING I purchased this based on the apps that were included on the sales page, which CLEARLY said "INCLUDED WITH MEMBERSHIP". However, when my DNA was available, two of the more expensive apps were NOT available. I was told that different companies decide which apps to make available. That feels a lot like "bait and switch" to me - if they might not be available, don't show them on YOUR sales page Sequencing.com. At first, the support people were helpful - until I changed my initial negative review to a positive one. Then they gave me some help but never followed up on the additional credits they PROMISED me during our chat (and in an email). Also the additions they gave me were merely (1) what I had been led to believe were INCLUDED, and (2) only for me and not for the three other people I purchased kits for. So still not what I thought I was buying and what thweir sales page. (2) DNA ANALYSIS OF LIMITED VALUE The price is $69 (normally $189) and the claim is :"~50X MORE DATA THAN 23ANDME AND ANCESTRY.COM" Maybe there is technically more data but it is LESS USEFUL. I have used 23&me in the past and while it is more $$, you can download the data and it is accepted by many other platforms and DNA analysis services. So in the end it's more valuable. Better to just pay the extra for 23&me Ancestry, or another more widely accepted analysis. (3) A service like 23&me is more $$ upfront but you get a lot more data - with Sequencing.com you have to pay for membership to use the apps. In just a few months it can cost A LOT MORE than the one-time-fee for 23&me. And 23&me is constantly updating their databases and giving me new analyses and reports for free - and I purchased from them years ago. CONCLUSION: From what I have experienced from Sequencing.com, I cannot recommend these products. Spend a little more upfront and you will get A LOT more information from a different, more comprehensive service.

United States | 03 July 2021Communication with customers is horrible. I’m trying to track my test results, and I keep getting different answers re: when the 11-14 week turnaround time starts. Nowhere did I read prior to purchase that it would take roughly four months to get results. Had I known this, I would have gone with another company. You cannot find a phone number for the company, and contacting them via their website results in vague and delayed responses. Update: after this posting a negative review here, Joy, a customer service rep, reached out to me and worked hard to resolve the matter. It still took much longer to get my results than promised at time of purchase, but Joy worked diligently to remedy the issue. Sequencing.com appears to have stepped up its game as it relates to customer service, and I hope this level of support continues moving forward.

Australia | 07 May 2021They had my sample for half a year now, and I have neither results nor any comminications from them, other than "wait 6 more weeks" diligently send out every two months. Waste of money. 4 December 2020: “Thank you for your order. Your payment of $359.00 for order 429096 has been processed.” They had my sample a couple of weeks later. Nothing since. PS they had my sample on 18 January, I have a tracking number to prove it. And they didn’t “make it right”, they offered me a partial refund but still no results on 13th may. Thats 16 weeks of “sequencing” and counting. After this complaint the woke up and delivered some (not sure about the quality yet) data on 3 June. Nearly 6 month from the time of purchase.

Overall, my experience makes me feel they are still in the beginning stages (which has been frustrating at times), but they seem dedicated to working with clients for satisfactory solutions. They are also willing to listen to feedback & improve services and thier site for better customer experience, which is very refreshing and appreciated.

United Kingdom | 24 April 2021Updated review- My first sample failed quality control at 8 weeks. I sent a second sample that took 15 weeks to receive results. Customer service have been good at resolving any problems and explaining why my first sample failed so late. They were keen to discuss what could have been done better regarding communication so as to improve the experience for future customers. Although I waited much longer for results than was advertised I think that they provide a great value service and customer service have been fantastic.

You get so much more than 23&Me , Ancestry , Living DNA etc... can give you and right now you pay less than those other sites. For right now, they use the Living DNA labratory for the Ultimate DNA Kit and Nebula labratory for the Full Genome Sequencing Kit. Dont be thrown off, you ARE getting what is advertised. I have received excellent customer service. Here is one of the emails I received back from them... Donna, Thank you for writing. Living DNA is our laboratory partner for our Ultimate DNA Test and the specific testing kit has to be validated by their lab. We're in the process of having our own kits manufactured that will also be run in their lab but this takes time and the kits aren't yet ready. In the interim, we're using their excellent kits for DNA data collection. Our Ultimate DNA Test provides 50x the amount of data compared to the data that Living DNA provides. This is due to Sequencing.com's proprietary bioinformatics pipelines that are able to greatly expand the dataset. So while Living DNA, Ancestry, 23andMe, and similar companies provide around 600,000 data points (genetic variants) with their DNA test, our Ultimate DNA Test provides data on almost 30 million data points. You also asked why "Living DNA can 3000x the sequencing of other sites." I just wanted to clarify that Living DNA doesn't perform sequencing. They perform a type of testing called genotyping, which is what we use for our Ultimate DNA Test. The other test we offer, Ultimate Genome Sequencing, provides around 5,000x more data than Living DNA, Ancestry, and 23andMe. This sequencing test is not performed by Living DNA as they only perform genotyping tests - our sequencing test is performed by our other laboratory partner, Nebula Genomics. The reason that we have laboratory partners is for much the same reason that scientific telescopes are used by a variety of teams - this machinery and equipment involved are very high-end, and it makes sense to utilize them to minimize any lost bandwidth, especially since it may become obsolete with future research. Our current niche is to develop high-quality bioinformatics pipelines and analysis applications that are able to really help interpret that data and get actionable results out of it. If you order our Ultimate Genome Sequencing, which includes 30x whole genome sequencing, you'll receive a kit from Nebula Genomics. We have enhanced processing for these kits that is able to create insights not available from Nebula directly, including enhanced raw data processing through two special bioinformatics pipelines that provide comprehensive data and analysis of structural variations, copy number variations, and mitochondrial heteroplasmy. Both Telomere Length and HLA Typing are coming soon and will be retroactively added to all past purchases of our Ultimate Genome Sequencing service. I know this is a long explanation! The shorter answer is that it takes a lot of processing to turn raw genetic data into usable data, and then to analyze that data. That piece is where we come in, and are at the forefront of the field. It made a lot more sense to build those data processing pipelines with laboratory partners providing the raw data than to build both at the same time. So I submitted my order only to find the code deleted/did not apply correctly. I emailed customer service and they retroactively discounted my item. No fuss. Fixed in 1 day.
