I decided to get serious about my retirement finances this year and after my husbands initial consultation with Peter at Burfield I too met with Peter. I had a number of pensions as well as joint income with my husband and needed help to understand what would be the best way forward. I was generally very happy with the service from Burfield, when I choose them to deal with my pensions, especially with regards to consolidating my pensions, and taking an early lump sum. The staff were very friendly, and helpful, though I did on occasion find my self getting a bit confused with all the information being offered. However the drawdown process was absolutely painless, and straight forward, if by necessity a little long winded. I was then offered advice with what to do with my remaining pension pot. Most of this was good sound advice, unfortunately one bit of advice, though seeming good at the time, has ended up affecting certain other allowances I get (I'm a full time carer), and has therefore ended up losing me money. On the whole though, I would recommend Burfield on the grounds of Professionalism Value for money, Staff that are easy to talk to, friendly, and informative, Good and continuous communication And mostly first rate financial advice (the slight problem I encounted could be just unique to my circumstances) Finally, if I had the choose a financial advisor again, I would happily go with Burfield, but I would make doubly sure that I had given them all the relevant information, and they were completely aware of my circumstances.
