United States | 10 December 2021Let me say up front that when this plugin works, it's very very good. The problem is that it doesn't always work, and solving problems takes more time than I'm able to give it. I spend more time babysitting this plugin than any other plugin on any of my sites. I bought multiple years of anti-spam and security from CleanTalk and it's still trying to sell me services I already own. The language used on the site is not written by a native English speaker, which would be fine if they had a native speaker edit it, but it's not always clear which service is which and what is included in each package. So I'm not ever sure where the problems are originating and how to keep them from recurring. Issues I'm still dealing with: 1. Auto-updates don't always update 2. Sometimes plugins stop working when they need an update 3. The licenses/APIs/Access codes often need to be reinstalled/regenerated/some other thing/ and once updated on the Cleantalk dashboard, the Wordpress dashboard doesn't always recognize the key. 4. Updates on the Cleantalk dashboard often don't show up on the Wordpress dashboard or vice versa 5. I keep getting billed for things I've already purchased, and they try to sell me things I already have 6. Troubleshooting issues is more difficult than it needs to be because there are too many variables between the anti-spam plugin dashboard on wordpress, the antispam dashboard on Cleantalk, the security dashboard on wordpress and the security dashboard on cleantalk. 7. They are responsive, but the suggestions for troubleshooting problems don't always use the same terminology (Which is it - an API key? A license? A Key? An access code?) so it takes a long time before you're even sure you're talking about the same things - even with screen shots. Overall I really want this to work, because it's a great concept, but I have never been able to get this to work problem-free on all my sites. Almost every ticket I've had has been closed before I had time to solve the issue. So yes, I'd agree with Jay C. Burton - not really ready for prime time. If it ever gets any easier to use, I'll gladly amend this review. Amber Dennis

Italy | 09 December 2021I've been having problems with suspicious users being created on my Wordpress site and I've tried various security plugins to no avail, but as soon as I started using CleanTalk the spam changed dramatically. I highly recommend it.

United States | 19 November 2021Site was getting intense attacks with spam. I contacted Cleantalk. Over a period of many weeks they finally concluded that Drupal 7 was not supported so they would not investigate further. I pointed out that Drupal 7 is in fact supported until Nov 2022. Alex from support responded that regardless, they would not fix the problem. Click. Now I must check the site myself constantly to remediate the attacks. "Sorry for the inconvenience". What the heck.... After Cleantalk's response: I use Cleantalk to protect registratio, so not sure what they are talking about. The imply they do not protect pages posted from registered users? Why have the included in your configuration then for roles to be checked? From your response you only support mainstream issues of your choice. I worked as a developer to support support groups. We supported the product. Period.

Pakistan | 19 November 2021The owner of the Plugin is a fraud. Furthermore this is filled with loop holes and bugs that allow attackers remote access to your account details and in once case to completely takeover your account. I publishing this after the major bug was fixed to avoid any harm to other users. However the site owners were found to be reluctant to admit the severity and used different tactics to avoid the truth. Complete video proof can be seen on my youtube channel: shayan alam also you can read the blog with all proof on medium.com @alamshayan471

Brazil | 28 October 2021This plugin was the one that solved my problem with getting bots on one of my forms in my website. Which I used for email marketing, so it was annoying me with a lot of fake emails on my list. But I'm glad this plugin helped me! And they have a really good support as well!

Iceland | 25 October 2021***UPDATED BASED ON MORE USAGE EXPERIENCE*** The reply from CleanTalk suggested that my 1-star review was perhaps not based on the actual performance/functionality of their product. I am here now, going on 3 months later and with a lot more experience behind me to set the record straight. It *IS* my opinion that their product deserved, and continues to deserve, the 1-star rating I initially gave it. The number of security issues I have uncovered while using their platform is nothing short of shocking. I am not yet going to detail them in a public venue, as it is my desire that CleanTalk has an opportunity to fix all of the problems I have identified, and probably many more I have not yet discovered. ***END UPDATE*** I would like to preface my below comments by saying this is an initial review subject to revision (more stars) as the product matures. I recently trialed both the anti-spam and security plug-ins from CleanTalk. During the trial I was a little hesitant to upgrade, not because of performance or service quality, but because it looks like the website and plugin were written by a 12-year-old. With so many spelling and grammatical errors, it makes one wonder what other mistakes might be lurking under the hood. The pricing is fair, so I decided to purchase access to the premium services for both plugins. There were a couple of quirks with one site and the anti-spam plugin that I could not resolve; however, a quick uninstall and reinstall resolved whatever was wrong. So far the plugins seem to be doing what they are designed to do, so I looked at another feature, which is the ability to let another user have access to a special dashboard to see statistics for one or more specific sites. To be fair, CleanTalk does not advertise any white-label service, which is great, because they make absolutely zero attempts to hide themselves and their products/services from this restricted user dashboard. In fact, CleanTalk displays customer reviews, offers products and services for sale, including those you and/or the client have already paid for, and more inappropriate content in the dashboard. Imagine billing a client for anti-spam and security services only to have them go to their dashboard and have it appear as if one or both services are not active and they need to purchase them. Not professional at all. Most clients, IMHO, would be confused by having anything more than the necessary stats with nothing additional to distract them. In the interest of full disclosure, I created two separate support tickets to bring both matters to the attention of the CleanTalk staff. For the spelling/grammar issues I was told that they had a new plugin update coming out shortly, and they would review their site and plugin for mistakes, fix them, and then include the fixes in that update. I wasn't going to hold my breath. When the plugin update came, I saw no noticeable changes, so I directed them to an area of the plugin and mentioned a mistake without providing any specific details. Here is the initial screenshot I provided: https:// prnt. sc/1wps4dr. The support person replied that I was, in fact, incorrect in my report and that the wording was correct because “It is our decision how to name the processes. To quarantine a file means that the file will be isolated. Not deleted.” I then showed the support staff the specific error. Only then did they acknowledge that there was an error in the wording. Specifically, the plugin listed the word "Quarantine" twice. The first usage should have instead used the word "Delete", which matched the description provided on that line. The correct usage (and description) of the word "Quarantine" appeared a few lines later. This should be enough to have it changed for the next revision of the plugin (still not holding my breath). There is at least one other error in this area of the plugin. I did not point that out specifically as I want to see if the staff is going to bother reading this section again. If they did not already spot the error, they might review it again after reading this review and fix at least that one additional mistake. In my second ticket, I mentioned the client (restricted) dashboard. I was told they had looked at this and deemed there to not be enough interest to implement any white-label or similar functionality for that dashboard, although they would look at it again. I really hope they do, because it is a showstopper for me when working with clients. Since developing my first software solution over 40 years ago, I can say with complete confidence it is better to spend a little more time getting things right rather than fielding complaints first and still having to fix the issues.
