United Kingdom | 16 June 2021Good service , however a few things to be aware of the referencing company they use Goodlords is a complete nightmare to deal with and they should definitely look into using someone else. The agent my flatmate and I dealt with, Romina is a very pleasant person and very professional, prompt in answering your questions and listening to your preferences on regards to what you are looking for. All in all our experience was good but with everything there is always room for improvement and the staff were quite friendly.

United Kingdom | 27 November 2020Shaws Kensington were very slow to return our deposit (3 months after we moved out of the property) and we received no communication about this, to say why the process was delayed. However, glad to say it has now been returned in full so overall a good outcome.

France | 01 November 2020I rented my small apartment through Shaws in late jan. Their shoddy tenant broke the lease and left early in august without proper notice. They found a new tenant in October. They've tried to fiddle me on the loss of the old tenant and the commission on the new. They're trying to charge me £380 for two hours cleaning and have taken the rent due. They won't answer repeated emails and now I have to sue. AVOID. Used to be reputable but now just bad news. IN RESPONSE TO THE REPLY BELOW... The tenant is not responsible for the contracted comission paid by the landlord to the agent. This is absurd. We, landlords, pay the year's commission out of the first month's rent. If the agent's tenant then decides to take the six month break clause in the AST the agent always refunds the six months of the year remaining and then in good faith and honesty relets the property. You think I could imprison them??? You state i allowed them to leave. Of course, are you suggesting anything else? Every other agent does this refund and I thought this lot did. Watch out landlords: The tenant left before their notice at 6 months and Shaws kept the full year commission. Then, as for the cleaner they slipped in, Shaws admitted I put on a cap of £60 for someone to pop around that morning, they sent me no photos whatsoever, and they try then to charge £380 for two hours clean up? This is just a scam. As for my request for a refund they said they would cut £1.21 from the £380! Some refund since I had agreed sixty quid. Now THIRDLY they tried the same with the EICR quoting £3990 for a complete rewiring when I got it done for £1480 with no rewiring at all. They also took six weeks and repeated warnings to sort out the agreed £460 deposit return between me and the previous tenant. They did NOT refund me anything beyond the paint job on the deposit as you were not on a full management contract. That's unacceptable. The deposit is not theirs, it is held in government escrow as they well know, they cannot use it. Over twenty years I have had a terrific relationship with Shaws and their team is impeccable but now they are sadly dishonoured. Its clear things have changed very much for the worse. They have found a new tenant after much expense and I expected a new contract, not a mix with the old one. Another illegal issue. However if these tenants leave early again at six months, the AST break, no landlord would expect Shaws to take the full year's commission. Its not theirs. Its not honest. All in all I thought we had seen the last of this shoddy agent behaviour in London. Very dishonourable and since they hold my tenant's deposit I dread to think what they'll do with it when they leave. ALL agents return commission if their tenants do a runner for that missing period voiding their contract. Not this bunch it appears. However may I wish them a good future for the sake of their terrific staff, who don't deserve this company on their CVs.
