Australia | 04 January 2021I have been buying from this site for about 2 years. I have found the majority of sellers are professional and reliable. I love their wide range of stones and sellers. Buyers must hold some responsibility. After reading other reviews these stores and gemrock cannot be accountable for the mail delivery times. Also sellers try to show the stones magnified. This sometimes effects the appearance. You shouldn't buy unless sure. I have asked many questions at times probably annoying but at least i was sure when it came to buy. I recommend this site for sure.

Australia | 04 November 2020Supported a mockery actioned gem seller and defended them and neglected their reputation. No justice and blinded. I was trying to ask for a detailed answer on the website to a gem seller, (Artgems of NSW) the seller decided to bully me by mocking me by saying ungodly things then falsely reported me to the admin, I have sent emails they didn't reply. I've been blacklisted to this day. If Gemrock Auctions wanna support this type of person then their business shall be destroyed very soon.

United Kingdom | 06 July 2020I saw a most beautiful Indonesian Moss Agate and after some very competitive and excessive bidding, I was successful. When the stone arrived it was almost colourless. I complained to Rock Auction about the Seller using enhanced photos For the sale and very quickly I received a decision from their ‘so called independent’ Sheriff Audit scheme. It decided that all the seller’s information was accurate and gave me no chance to explain my case and send in my photos of the Stone. I am complaining to Rock Auctions every few days and asking to upload my photos but I just get messages saying it is ‘closing case in 24hrs as we have not heard from you’. My emails are on their website so they are received. It is important for this site to take action when sellers Misrepresent their items. I paid three times what this item was worth on the basis of colour enhanced photos. Gem Rock Auctions immediate answer to me was send it back and get a refund .... but can I trust this seller? If I send it back will he send a refund. What about the shipping charges both ways and the import duty invoice, I am expecting to come any day now. I note that a recent post here was about a Very similar buying experience. I have responded back to Gem Rock again this morning. I will post on this site what sort of answer I get .... in fact I will keep updating here until I get a positive response at last! Gem Rock Auctions needs to sanction dishonest sellers and give some thought and help to mislead buyers. I hope that this message is seen by Rock Auctions and they Decide to do the right thing. United States | 28 May 2020I give a neutral feedback because the color of stone I received is much lighter than the picture. Then two days later I found the neutral feedback was changed to positive by someone, either the seller or the website. That's a 100% feedback store, and that's the reason why I purchased stone from them. Now I don't know how many feedback was changed by them. Don't trust them! Comments about the website's reply: They are lying! I have all screenshot in my cellphone to prove it! I didn't give any positive feedback to that seller. I gave a neutral one and surprised to see it was changed to positive by someone else. You can imagine how angry I am when I saw the feedback became 100% positive again. I complained to the website, then 4 hours later the positive one was removed and I can post a new feedback again. I have no objection for the seller refusing to return after 40 days from it's delivered, but I need to say the seller enhanced the color to sell a light-color stone in the feedback. Again: Don't trust the feedback in their website!

United States | 23 May 2020After having bid and "won" 12 different stones,I'm giving this site 2 stars. The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 star is because 1 seller is a shining example of true honest salesmanship. The site itself is terrible. The administration part. If you leave a negative or neutral review it will be changed to positive. If you don't receive your merchandise, there will be an automatic positive review for that item. And not only do they "automatically" leave positive reviews, they attach YOUR user name to them. I will NEVER use this site again. VERY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. If they were in America I would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but since they are headquartered in Australia, I filed a complaint with Ecommerce.

United States | 25 April 2020I have purchased quite a few stones from Gem Rock Auctions so far. The pieces are in the low range, less than $500, and I have been very pleased with all the stones I have received. Some of them have been just drop dead gorgeous, beautifully cut, with colors that just pop but all have been exactly as they were represented. My GIA certified jewelry has told me they are genuine, no question. Delivery has been slow on some of the pieces coming from Asia, but in this time of global disruption because of COVID-19 I am confident that the stones will arrive in time. I'd say "Happy gem hunting!"

New Zealand | 18 April 2020My wife and I are avid collectors. We do buying trips to Bangkok and Chanthaburi every year or so and use gemrockauctions as one of our fillers in-between. Like with most platforms that have a variety of vendors, you will get inconsistencies. Just be smart and remember you're buying gemstones online. Everyone uses different cameras, backgrounds, and light sources. Our Advice: Read the sellers reviews first, see if there are any complaints that resonate with your concerns. If you want more confidence, buy a couple of cheaper sample pieces form a store that has material you like. Compare them to the videos and pictures, and get a feel for how their setup under or overstates the stones CCC. You can then set your expectations and prices appropriate to each seller. We've even found a couple of sellers that stones are much nicer in person, so (unfortunate to them) people don't bid as high while my wife and I get a great deal. Also, be patient, wait for the right deal, and make offers. We've had sellers come down to 45% of list price and other that wouldn't budge. We've also watched other stones for months that suddenly come up no reserve; winning them at a fraction of their valuation. Mostly, know what you're buying. We wont even flirt with buying stones online that we don't have a lot of experience handling. To close: we've purchased hundreds of stones. One seller misrepresented the color but offered us credit (since it wasn't valuable enough to be worth postage back). Another gave us a full refund on a $600 purchase, no questions ask. Besides those two incidents we've been happy.

United States | 17 March 2020I am a New Buyer at Gem Rock Auctions. I have purchase several stones, and every One is Beautiful! I have bought Certified, as well as Non Certifed gems. 4 of the pieces that I was unsure about, after looping them, I brought them to my Jeweler. He asked me where I had purchased them, and when I told him, He almost Fainted. He said the Gems were worth 5-6 times what I paid for them! I will Remain a Very Loyal Customer, & hopefully that won't change.

Canada | 18 February 2020I am a new user on this site, and my observations so far are: Seller's with lots of negative feedback are still allowed to sell! Some have MANY comments about FAKE gemstones. This is not at all acceptable. Site rules state three strikes, your out policy, but this appears to be not enforced. Potential buyers should be aware that the sellers have ratings similar to eBay etc. I recommend that buyers do their own due diligence and research these ratings prior to bidding on anything,as some sellers are very difficult to get answers from after an auction is won. IE: tracking etc. I'm not confident that the site will assist buyers with obtaining a refund if required. The " Gemstone Sheriff" appears to me to be seller biased. The site has no way of attaching photos in messages to sellers,or when opening a Support ticket. This would be a great addition to the site, and the lack of this feature creates a non needed hurdle when trying to resolve any disputes. As with any online purchases, buyer beware.. what you see isn't always what you get.

United States | 16 February 2020Just started on Gem Rock Auctions and am thrilled to have found this option for buying my stones. Easy to use and gives me access to so many. Would love an option added to the site for combining shipping for multiple purchases from one seller.

United States | 12 February 2020I have had good and bad experiences. What i don't understand is vendors with awful reviews get to continue to sell product. There should be someone, somewhere in that places that can control that for customers. After sooo many bad reviews they need to have something in place to let them know you can't keep ripping people off. I personally check everyone of them before purchasing. I had one vendor that i gave 1 good, 1 not so good review (1 good stone and one bad) and he emailed me chewing me out over it then blocked me from buying from him again! Are you kidding me? Had another sell me bad product and once again i was block. I wouldn't purchase again anyway but.... draw your own conclusion. ALWAYS CHECK THE REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING!!!

United States | 12 February 2020My experience for the most part has been very positive, the items I have received are exquisite and every much as advertised, beautiful. I understand that some of these products come from half a world away, and understandably shipping can be costly. I don't understand why a small item, shipping at 30 days can cost upwards of $30. ThIs completely baffles me and hinders my purchasing quite often. Other than that I must say I am completely satisfied.

United States | 31 January 2020An all around great experience with gem rock auctions!! All the sellers I've bought from have been wonderful to work with. Always answer my questions quickly, are helpful and friendly. And also having tools to help you learn about gemology and and so many related topics of interest makes it great for those brand new into collecting clear through to professionals in the field. I have a a whole new world to explore thanks to them.
