My lessons started with Carl back in 2019, where I picked up things really quickly as he was extremely patient and explained how to use the roads in the best way possible. Due to Covid-19, I had very few lessons in 2020. Fast forward to 2021, and again, I managed to pick things back up quickly as Carl taught me his expertise. Carl not only showed me how to use the roads, but explained why the actions on the roads are helpful and necessary for myself and other road users. I can now say that as of today, I have passed my driving test! As well as myself, Carl also taught my elder sister to drive, who also passed first time! Carl was extremely helpful all the way throughout my driving journey, and I couldn't have done it without the knowledge he gave to me. To anyone who's pondering about taking up lessons with Carl or No Gears Driving School, then you have an extremely high chance of passing your test first time with all the knowledge you are able to gain!

Passed my driving test first time today with 2 minors all thanks to Ryan from No Gears Driving School in the AL2 area. Ryan was very calm and friendly in his approach to teaching you the rules of the road, he has high standards which helped me pass my test at the end of the day. Couldn’t have done it without his help , would highly recommend him to anyone learning how to drive !

I had been with a few driving instructors before going with Jim, but he made the learning experience very calm and easy and with his help I was able to past first time! A really good teacher and a really nice guy.

I had trouble for a few years with learning how to drive, mainly due to a poor instructor that didn’t teach me much and was constantly on and off with lessons. Eventually I bit the bullet and opted for no gears and was given James. I couldn’t thank him enough, within three months I went from having no understanding of what I was doing behind the wheel, to passing my test first time. He’s a great instructor that genuinely cares about his pupil and wants them to succeed! Thanks again James.

Rob Brown is an amazing driving instructor, very patient and supportive. During all of my lessons, he's made me feel at ease and simplified the process till I successfully passed my test last week. I can't recommend him enough especially if you are a nervous learner-driver. I never felt rushed or pressured during my lessons and now thanks to him I can drive without my nerves getting the best of me. He's a very competent and friendly person who's shown great guidance throughout and will always answer any questions I had with great knowledge. Thanks a million, Sara.

Jim whitehead,was totally professional and always on time in all the lessons I had.His teaching manner is calm and precise and very thorough. Top man through and through. You won't regret using him also iam Thai and PASSED FIRST TIME.Mone.

Thank you to Steve from the Welwyn Garden City No gears branch, for helping and teaching me to drive and ultimately pass first time! Steve was an excellent teacher and kept me calm at all times. His knowledge of the 'tips and tricks' you need in order to pass the test are second-to-none. And most importantly, I feel safe and confident when driving! Passed my test first time this week with thanks to Jim Whitebread from no gears. Got to know him over a 2 year period due to Covid delaying my lessons but he made sure I passed as quickly as the government allowed.

I have managed to pass my practical driving test first time today, and i cannot thank my tutor enough Mr Carl Slater. Not only is he professional, instantly made me feel at ease but he is so down to earth and straight to the point. I genuinely can't thank him enough. Would definitely recommend him to anyone. Thank you No Gears/Carl for making a difference to my livelyhood, I am now a driver 😂

I have just passed my driving test, thanks to a wonderful instructor. James Whitbread He made me feel at ease from day one and helped me cope with all my nerves, he never got annoyed and in my eyes he is the Marks and spencer's of instructor's. My whole overall experience of No Gears from signing up to passing was fantastic and I would recommend them anytime

My instructor was Barry from the HA4 area, Barry was amazing from the start I couldn't have asked for better, he was always on time, very patient and easy to get on with. I passed my driving test with 3 minors so was very happy, Barry comes highly recommended and you should be very happy if you have him for your instructor 😊 top bloke !!!!!

I’m a super busy mum who had very little confidence driving, after being let down by multiple instructors beforehand I finally landed with the lovely James in Stevenage. Can’t give enough praise for this gentleman, he taught me on a advanced level leaving me very confident but driving safely. I passed first time with only 2 minors, all credit where it is due. Fantastic and patient instructor, very highly skilled, I wouldn’t of done it without him :)

I had my lessons with Ron and he was absolutely brilliant I can’t rate him enough! He was extremely patient with me and taught me everything he knows, I had my test yesterday and passed first time with only 2 minors. Thanks again ron your fantastic!

Rob is a great instructor.I previously had lessons in a manual but never saw it through.This time I felt at ease right from the beginning which gave the me the confidence to make sure I kept going until I put myself in for a test.Rob was very patient,easy to talk to,funny,friendly and knowlegeable.Also, learning in an automatic just seemed to make sense to me and after one lesson I was converted.Ask for Rob and he will help you tremendously.Go for it.

Rob is a fantastic instructor. After failing 4 times in a manual car I decided to try automatic. Rob provides a safe and friendly environment which really puts you at ease. Rob also gave me regular feedback on how I was doing so you know where you stand. I will definitely be recommending no gears to all my friends and family!
