I think this is the 3rd year I have used Mary Milner with Greenback Tax Services. She has helped me through the tax filing process of selling a rental property (former residence) in the U.S. I’m quite good with U.S. taxes, but this one was beyond my capabilities. My situation has some complexity given that I own and operate a business in New Zealand, while my wife works for a US-based company and gets paid in USD. I have investments in both countries and the tax law in NZ is not very forgiving, so we had several layers of difficulty. On top of that, many accountants in this country don't offer the same service that American-firms can or will, so there tends to be a more relaxed attitude. We started by initially working with a different representative and I found it difficult to get answers or actually moved the process forward for some time.
