I plan to file a complaint against this bank. I have proof to prove my point. I called and followed written instructions to withdraw my money. Today is the 5th business day the money has not been transferred. Please add some days if you open an account with this bank. Transfering your own hard-earned money to an external account takes way longer in today's world Update: 11/18/23 Finally the amount was transferred to my external account. When you call, the customer service folks are super nice. They will assist you. The bank needs to invest in technology a bit more. As you can read lot of folks were not satisfied that transfer takes longer. If this is a common complaint among many customers why not work on improving on digital transfer?

Two issues since opening a Platinum Savings account. First, when I transfer money to CIT, it takes an inordinate amount of time for the funds to become available. I transferred funds on 11/2/23 from my Chase Checking account to CIT Savings. As of 11/7/23, the funds are still not available! Additionally, I submitted for a wire transfer this morning at 8am ET and received an email back saying it was received and in process. At 1pm the same day, there is nothing on my online account indicating the wire is being processed or pending. There is no customer service chat option online. I called customer service and the system informed me the hold time would be approximately 44 minutes! Horrible c/s......seems this bank is completely overwhelmed and unable to do anything in a timely manner. I have an important transaction requiring the wire which I did first thing this morning, but have no way to know if there is an issue, if it's going through, anything. Plus, why does it take so long for my funds to become available? I transfer from the same Chase Checking account each month and it always takes in excess of a week for the funds to become available in my CIT account.....wondering if interest earnings are delayed when the funds aren't available......

Looks more like scam than real bank. They transfered twice as much money from bank to fund their account. Their App and online system down. No one to talk to... I am canceling my account

Not happy at all, sick of the bait and switch on interest rates. I had a substantial amount in CIT's Platinum Savings account earning at the highest tier. For 5 months everything was fine, because of compound interest each month the interest paid was going higher. On month 6 suddenly my interest payout was lower than it had been 3 months ago. According to my statement my interest rate hadn't changed and I had taken no money out of the account. According to every online interest calculator I used, I had been shorted $22. I emailed the CIT staff for an explanation, twice. After 4 days of them ignoring me they sent a boilerplate response about average daily balance etc. Well my balance had never changed. I sent them another email asking to see a detailed transaction statement for that month showing interest paid. They wrote back and said they wouldn't provide that. I am convinced they paid out a lower interest rate then they printed on my statement. When I looked at my online account info for this month, they had lowered my interest rate to 4.something. They are still advertising 5.05% on websites. The Fed has not lowered interest rates. Bottom line, do not trust CIT Bank. They also do not have physical branch offices. This is my second bad experience with a pure online bank and it will be my last. I transferred all my money out (I initiated the transfer at the other bank since I have read about the problems people have had transferring money out of the CIT side) and closed my account. Also some bank review sites says CIT has online chat, it doesn't. It's email and telephone only.

it's true, they have the best rates- But their game is to not raise rates on existing accounts. So you have to pay attention and occasionally close and open a new account. Another game they play is delaying transfers. Using your money for a week or two before they give you access to it. My latest ACH transfer cleared my donor account- CIT is now promising it will be "available" in 11 days- Pretty sketchy. Give yourself two weeks transferring money in or out. Online access can be pretty frustrating convoluted security steps. I spend a lot of time on hold trying to get access, at least a couple times a year.

Update - 12/28/2023 Seems as though First Citizens Bank is addressing the shortcomings with their online CITBANK that I previously reviewed below. Citbank website portal has been greatly improved. It's much faster, less clunky and first glance it seems like maybe they have the online version of Bill Pay working correctly now. No more hangups. I had a feeling in time after purchasing Citbank First Citizens would get this corrected as I have been a First Citizens customer for a long time and their site always worked. Anyway it seems like all is good with the website now, I will update if any further issues. For now I am moving my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars until fully confirmed that it works as it should. I expect it should. ------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post - The good - Great savings interest rates The bad - Totally inept, incompetent division of First Citizen Bank. Summary- Decades of online banking, the experience with CitBank is quite scary that they are even in business. I have countless corrospondence with them. Their online checking and phone app is dysfunctional and their tech support clueless how to fix anything. To this day bill pay does not work on their website using Safari. Numerous attempts to contact tech support telling them it does not allow to add new payee's. Know what they instructed me to do? Add the payee on the phone app, then I can use the website to pay bills! My advice, stay away from this bank UNLESS you choose to simply use it for a great interest rate. Use that savings account to transfer money to a more competent online bank checking account. To this day *LOL* I cant believe I use CitBank it is scary but the savings rate is great other then that, its a "Nightmare on Elm Street"

Well, I've never been denide a savings account before. I have perfect credit and plenty of cash to deposit. after fillilng out their online application I was instantly denied and no reason given. This is what it said. Not sure how "thorough" ther "review" was if their response was right after I hit submit. Unfortunately, we are unable to open an account for you at this time Thank you for your recent application for a CIT Bank account. We regret to inform you that after a thorough review of your application, we have elected to not open a bank account for you at this time. Thank you for considering CIT Bank.

CIT Is a joke. Took two transfers from my account leaving me with a -$48,315.00 balance in my checking account. Had issue with filling out app online which is a confusing mess and I work in IT! The issue was a problem with their instant ACH verification with regard to verifying ACH. Was told by one of their "knowledgeable" phone reps that I needed to start again. Mind you, I had the log in credentials and the initial transfer amount wasn't showing what i requested as it was not showing in the amount box so I entered again and choose another ACH verification as directed by the rep. Talked to a female rep who was giving information from some else's account. Not even after she asked qualifying question she was in the wrong account!!!!!!!! Wow!! Took two amounts out and they basically said tough cookies. So, it's your problem. Wonderful people on the phone. Will be moving out of that mess quickly. Stay away from these people. Half of the reps answering the phone give you different answers to the same question. Seems as though no one knows the right answer because it changes from rep to rep. Horrible place to do business. Horrible customer service. Now I have checks out that will bounce thanks to the knowledgeable folks at CIT. Again, CIT would not cover the small amount of bank fees associated with their mistake. So I'll move out my upper 5 figure amount to another bank. Wish there was a place for negative value stars. Stay away!!!!!!!!!

Same problem as many have stated. They advertise high rates, but then deny application and will not state why ("could be poor credit score, poor banking history, etc" none of which are true). Came here to leave feedback and noticed the terrible views from actual customers. Feel as if I dodged a bullet!

I've had very little voice contact. What I have had was not problematical. I took a CD with them when they had one of the highest rates.

The Cit Bank representative and bankers are all lack of experience , communication and knowledge. I called them since April for a refund, and they didn’t know the right way of how to proceed it. Every time they told you something different and tell you , you missed some info, after months and years, they tell you, you will get a refund in 3 days. Then later, oh you needed everything in hand writing, oh you missed a signature, oh the amount was incorrect. Oh you needed to re-upload documents. Come on, why you cannot tell everything what you needed all at once, now it’s September, you tell me I need to restart everything again when you told me I was going to get a refund in 3 days in May. Please train your staff to be professional don’t put your customers in a miserable life. I am complaining about the lack of knowledge and communication of your employees, don’t tell me to call them, sounds very ironic.

CIT Bank Has ISSUES TO BE AWARE Of. First, the long, long wait times to reach a representative, continued online login issues that do not stay once you have saved your password and account information on MacBook Pro, and on any search engine. The Auto-Pay DOES NOT WORK AND IS FAULTY WITH PAYING YOUR BILLS, MORTGAGE OR HOA DUES, and CIT Bank will not as a courtesy notify you of this IT issue, let alone, their tech support WILL NOT SPEAK DIRECTLY with the account holder, causing more hold times. Be prepared for each call to last anywhere from 30-60 minutes, if not longer. The Account Executive Director DOES NOT KEEP HIS WORD, to be accountable as he promised on the phone, but then lied on a recorded line with my mortgage company, but instead of keeping truths, tried to turn it on me, the account holder. This Bank to this date, has POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, in that they do not take accurate notes, don't update your account when asked, and they do not notify you if your account has any issuessed with bill pay or otherwise successfully like you would expect from a 100% online bank. CIT Bank has a 2 STAR RATING WITH CUSTOMER REVIEWS, and will not back their spoken words to you as the account holder, but instead will do all they can to make the account holder the issue to the problem. I reported fraud on all my accounts, notified CIT Bank of this possibility. They froze the account as all my accounts did, but, when I call to have it released and asked if my account is okay now with bill pay etc., I was told YES, but when I receive a message from my mortgage company that they had not been paid, I called CIT Bank immediately to see what the issue was. They hadn't release my accounts as promised when I initially called to make sure all was okay initially. CIT Bank has a nice APY%, but so do many online banks with great reputations. PERSPECTIVE ACCOUNT HOLDERS BEWARE, DO NOT GO WITH CIT BANK, if you do not want the same problems I've had to date. Their actions caused my mortgage company to reach out to TransUnion. I had a 766 Credit Score, but due to them went down to 715.

I opened an account on 8-18-23. As of today 8-26-23 my deposit still on hold, even though the check has been cleared from the bank. Why is it taking too long to release the funds? It shouldn’t be more than 2-3 days hold.

For the second term in a row, I didn't receive a CD renewal notice (as required by law). They automatically renewed it for 5 years at a very low rate. The first time this happened, I thought the renewal notice might have been lost in the mail. This time, it seems like standard operating procedure for CIT, hoping to keep my money for cheap.

Went through the lengthy process of applying for a savings account, including enteriing my SS#. At the end was told that they chose not to open an account for me. No reason was given. I called to ask the reason and was hung up on. I have excellent credit and relatively high net worth. The issue might be that, for protection againist ID theft, I have locked my credit with two of the credit agencies, in which case I could unlock it and they could do business with me. But we'll never know. Will invest elsewhere. UPDATE: Got a reply from CIT that they couldn't verify my ID. Probably due to my using a VPN, which I need to use if I'm entering my SS. If they had told me, we might have worked something out. Found out I'm already getting 4.98% on my cash at Fidelity.

UPDATE: The system WILL disconnect you from your account. You can log in; however you are not able to get to your information "You have not set up an account" Even if you have been making Deposits - have external account(s) set up.. You will not be recognized.. I got it fixed.. Disturbing to say the least.. I opened a savings account. I receive daily alerts of deposits, balance and I have another alert to notify "maximum balance". I went to the account to refresh "maximum balance to a another number. Apparently according to the site I don't have my account set up. I have ZERO $$$ in the account. I read the reviews talk to those who have an account with them. First Citizens Reviews are negative. I was hesitant to open They are Not worth this aggrarvation.

The website is difficult to maneuver and disorganized. Their customer service is clearly filled with a lot of stall tactics to hold your funds as long as possible. Representatives make promises to close accounts but don't. Instead, they follow up with secure messages that are not sent to the customer asking for additional information that has already been provided. More STALL TACTICS!! I intend to contact the FDIC and report this awful banking behaviour.

Way overrated by the banking sites. The app is not all that wonderful nor is the website itself. There is no easy multifactor authentication and it's a very cumbersome and repetitive process as well. Took me 5 separate one time access codes just to get one thing done. Then setting up with the initial funding of the account has taken over a week with an ACH and who knows how much longer until it becomes available. I wish my regular bank had a high yield savings account because they put absolutely no hold on ACH deposits. Lesson learned...guess will have to suck up these issues just for the higher rate. Might have been better to go with one of the bigger bank names with a slight cut in the interest rate just to have better service.
