United Kingdom | 15 June 2021Not happy. I filed two CT600 for my clients company which HMRC informed me that one they actually did not receive and another the figures in the boxes had errors. I had to then post correct returns to HMRC. Taxfiler although have responded to my emails are not owning up to any errors in their software with absolutely no customer care or apologies.I think they are great if there is no issue but as soon as there is their service is not satisfactory. I won’t be using them again

United Kingdom | 28 April 2021I have used this software for a few years and it has always been good value for money... until Iris took over. Since that happened, my fees went up 120%. When I made a request to downgrade to the smaller package (because that's actually all I need), I wasn't allowed to, but was told I could leave if I wanted. So I left and then received an email from someone else asking me why!! Terrible terrible customer service. Iris have ruined this product.

United Kingdom | 24 April 2021This used to be a great piece of kit and good value for money. Then IRIS too over. A ridiculous price increase followed with no discernible improvement in the software. Customer service - which used to be swift and efficient - is now slow and fails to appreciate the urgency of business decisions. Our firm is paying almost 3x what it was paying a couple of years ago for pretty much EXACTLY the same product but with reduced customer support. No longer better than its competitors and not really worth the money if you are a small business.

United Kingdom | 25 February 2021I have been using TaxFiler for a number of months now, and find the simplicity of the software coupled with the powerful features offered provide a really well rounded service to myself, as an accountant. I run a small firm, and in turn with this I need to have access to software that will make simplify the process, whilst including technical features needed for more complex tasks. Whenever I have been stuck on TaxFiler, I have been able to send an email to the support team who are very reactive, making sure you are not left waiting. In all my experiences with the support team, I have found them to be a valuable asset, especially in this industry where time is money.

United Kingdom | 19 February 2021Huge price increase the other year but still good value compared to the competition. However, be aware that, like others have pointed out, that there are errors in their software. I have only just discovered that 2020 mistreated finance losses (let property) brought forward. They discovered this during the year (so they said) BUT did not inform any of their clients so returns continued to be wrong! It seems that they try to hide their mistakes which only make matters worse. There are many features that could be improved but they have refused to incorporate any that I brought to their attention. You can email them all day but they are totally rigid in their approach.

United Kingdom | 03 December 2020There is no tax filer support. I have sent emails but no response after 3 days. They dont take calls. Absolutely useless and completely unsatisfactory. Also their help screens are equally useless and out of date. Avoid and go elsewhere

Rarely are there any issues with the software, but when there is, the support team, and James in particular, are quick to reply and smash it out the park!

You get the impression that they are just out to killing this software so that they can sell their own incredibly expensive package. And the price increases after take over have just been pure greed. Will have to look for something different.

United Kingdom | 01 September 2020Wow, how to milk a cow until it dies! This was a really nifty product a few years ago. Every man and his dog recommended it. It was fairly straightforward, no bells and whistles, but did everything it said on the tin, for a pretty decent price. Then Iris took it over. It's first job was to double it's monthly cost (treble the cost for some customers). It then added some trinkets that were of no material benefit to most small practices to attempt to justify the increases. Now it has decided to increase it's prices again, by almost 10%. I'm getting exactly the same product as I got three years ago, but I'm now paying through the nose for a basic bit of kit. And their support (or lack of it) beggars belief. No surprise there to any previous victims of Iris. Sheer profiteering by Iris, I only hope some karma is coming to their owners, who must be drowning in the stink of their greed. Bye Bye Taxfiler, been nice knowing you. Has anybody out there got any recommendations?

United Kingdom | 13 February 2020I have been in sole practitioner for a year now and decided to try out taxfiler after hearing about this platform . I undertook the practice trial version then purchased my subscription . I say subscription , but the joy is, if you want to cancel, you can and not pay any more monthly payments . The system itself is very very capable and with hints and tips and a help section, producing returns and accounts and getting them verified and submitted is a piece of cake and produces a very professional look as you would expect . There probably is a lot more than I am using for at the moment , but I will continue to learn more of taxfiler and keep on using . A definite win for me . Keep track of all your accepted submissions , re turned submissions , failed returns etc from HMRC all on your dash board, allocate users , brilliant

United Kingdom | 27 January 2020Just submitted my Discretionary Trust Self Assessment tax return (SA900) on Taxfiler this evening - super impressed with the application. I discovered to my dismay earlier today that you can't submit Discretionary Trust Self Assessments online at gov.uk - the only option is on paper in Oct (too late for that now!) or to use 'Commercial Software'. Score -1 for HMRC :-(. So, trawling through all the 'commercial software' options listed on the HMRC website, everything I looked at was a 2000s-era Windows XP style desktop application, which are a) no good for me as I'm on a Mac, and b) any sensible solution to this problem should be web based these days. Happily, Taxfiler was in the list and it's great. Clean, simple, well thought out. I could create an account and go through my whole tax return creation before having to pay to submit it, so I knew I wasn't committed until I was happy. I'm a financial software designer myself (Fintec FX trading platforms) and TaxFiler has obviously been designed by people who understand User Experience (UX) design. It's not super pretty, but it's intuitive and well structured - no easy achievement in the byzantine world of income tax. Thanks guys.

The software is effortless, effective and beautifully simple and has truly made our job as accountants easier. Email support is met with a genuine personalised response from one of the team who are extremely knowledgeable about the software. United Kingdom | 15 October 2019Had a problem trying to get terminal losses on cessation of business carried back to previous three years ... the CT600 refused to state anything other than losses were to be carried forward ... tried help line, who did their best, and also reminded me several times over two weeks that they were there to help me, but in the end decided that submitting the CT600 with losses to carry forward, and then write HMRC asking for terminal loss relief, was the easiest and slickest solution ... but the helpline guy did try to sort it. Like others I don't like the 100% odd price hike ... but the software is still good, so what the hell. If it goes up further, I'm out.

They will treat you to a £10 a month entry fee, Wait until you have client returns online and then raise your monthly costs to £25. When you cancel your account, they will not allow you to access your information unless you pay them the full amount of any months you have not been a member. My advice, sign up, print everything off, cancel account and then sign up a year later with a different email. I rang and the lady said this was the directors decision.

United Kingdom | 01 August 2019We switched to Taxfiler over 2 years ago after our previous software provider had been acquired and ruined by Iris. It's very easy to use and, even with this years price rise to incorporate MTD for VAT, still costs much less than our previous software of nearly 20 years. I had a problem setting up MTD for VAT and my email query was answered immediately and I was asked to switch to Chrome, which then worked perfectly. I have managed to submit my first batch of MTD VAT Returns very easily, even though I was concerned my old version of Excel would not work. As always, you guys know what you are doing. Well done for such a great product!
