About Stannah UK

In 1867 Joseph Stannah started our business moving goods around the docks of London. Much has changed since then but one thing hasn’t. And that’s our commitment to Joseph’s desire to deliver quality products and first class service. Over 40 years ago we added stairlifts to our range and since then we have helped over 700,000 people make more of their day. With options to buy or rent new or reconditioned stairlifts for straight or curved staircases we have a stairlift to suit everyone.

We've had a few problems since having the stairlift put in but as soon as it's reported they come and fix the problems they have lovely enginers that can't do enough for you.

This company came recommended by several friends. The whole experience was made very easy for us, despite a delay waiting for the Council to agree to send an email to confirm that no permission was needed to install the stair lift. The electrician made a very neat job of the wiring and the installation went very smoothly. All the workmen were courteous and efficient. The stair lift fits well into the space. We are very pleased with it.

Two guys arrived introduced themselves and immediately got to work. Within a couple of hours our star lift was installed and we were being given instructions how to work it - it was magic and a great job well done - Thank you

I had not realised my Stannah Stairlift would be bespoke for me so I fit on it perfectly. The advice was clear and helpful and the installation slick. If I wish to replace my staircarpet they will return and remove the liftwhile the carpet is fitted and then replace it. It is an abolute boon.

Installed for less than 3hrs and it’s broken down with an alarm constantly sounding, the service desk tried to convince me the alarm would be a smoke detector! Just handed over the final payment of £5K+ and sat looking at a chair which is blocking the hall way, has a constant alarm and wishing we had chosen the other (cheaper) company!

Excellent product, which has greatly improved my day to day life at home. Don't leave it to when you are struggling with using stairs, going up on hands and knees. Plan ahead and get one fitted so it is there for when you really need it.

It replaced an old Stannah. We regret not repairing the old one (as we did 18months ago). The new one has many features which make it less comfortable to sit on, and particularly to operate. It appears the changes are responses to revised safety regulations. But they are counter productive. Arthritis means I cannot use the seat belt. I explained in detail to 2 of your engineers who checked it on different occasions. I have to avoid the seat belt and use the remote control. The new style chair tilts the rider forward if they are to get their bum to the back of the seat and not catch his knees on the newel post. That almost ensures a seat belt is needed to avoid falling forward. But as it is only a lap belt I'm not convinced it would help anyway. The old chair appeared to have plenty of room to operate and I do not recall ever catching my knees on the newel post when using it. The stairway is just the same as it always was. The engineers have done their best within the rules. I fail to see the new model is safer than the old one in my particular staircase.
