United Kingdom | 23 January 2025Service carried out Engineer prompt and appeared efficient Rather expensive

PETER WALTERS
United Kingdom | 23 January 2025While more expensive than some, the Stannah product looks good quality and so far is doing exactly what it says on the packet. Nice not to be subjected to a heavy sales pitch and the choices were explained well with particular reference to the clever way the system deals with limited space at the foot of our stairs. If I could suggest any improvement, it would be to perhaps make it clearer that the 10 days period from confirmation of the order is limited to the manufacture of the stairlift and excludes the time before installation can take place and a guesstimate about this as well would be helpful so that customers have the full picture. However, in our case, installation took place only a few days after the 10 days manufacturing period, which was acceptable.

Mr Croft,
United Kingdom | 23 January 2025Stannah lift is brilliant... The engineer was excellent and it was all finished in a couple of hours and only a week from us placing our order All the staff were very helpful and not pushy. The lift itself is excellent for our needs and my wife loves it...it's easy to use and extremely safe on our old very steep stairs... We are delighted...

United Kingdom | 23 January 2025This is a complicated review –positives and negatives to consider. I ordered my stairlift on the 27th of November 2024 and the representative returned to double check the measurements. The engineer arrived promptly on the 10th of December however, halfway through the installation he advised me that he would have to stop and take out the stair lift as one of the rails was significantly too short. I was taken back by this and quite distressed as I was really needing the stairlift. I was emailed swiftly by the company and offered a small discount and told that the new part would be” fast tracked”. Hearing nothing, I contacted Stannah on 16th of December and was told that the part had been made and dispatched to the planning team who would be in touch with the new date. Christmas looming I contacted them again on the 18th of December for an update and was told the installation date would be the 16th of January. A further discount was offered and apologies for the delay. All of these contacts had been by email so I requested the telephone number of the relevant team . By the time I spoke with appropriate person they had come up with a date of the 9th January. This date was a month after the failed installation- despite the necessary part being available within six days. Through these dealings with Stannah I was made aware that the department covering Devon and Cornwall had been closed and staff made redundant just before Christmas. My point was that any company should have made contingency plans to ensure that a whole area of the country should not be disadvantaged. I requested that my dissatisfaction with the situation should be escalated to their management team. The notion that my stairlift was fast tracked is clearly ridiculous. The stairlift was installed on 9th January as promised although the appropriate upholstery was not provided to the engineer. He delivered this a week later. Throughout all of this the engineers were efficient and respectful and all of the email correspondence was apologetic and discounts offered quickly as compensation for the delay. As I pointed out at the time I chose Stannah for their reputation as efficient and reliable, and their “Which” recommendation. So far, they have been none of these things. A stair lift is not purchased on a whim and reflects a significant level of disability. I was left with the impression that on this occasion this company had somewhat lost touch with the reasons behind why people purchase their products.

United Kingdom | 22 January 2025We really rate your sales person and fitters. Friends in Shoreham had used him and recommended stannah BECAUSE of him. Followed up all queries. Lives locally so we are lucky. Not at all pushy. BUT once deposit was paid VERY POOR communication. Phone system seemed to be failing( mid December) Finally sorted with many apologies. Stair lift stunning. Much admired. Our urban octopus.

United Kingdom | 22 January 2025Stephen listened to my issue with stair lift and subsequently found and fixed the underlying cause. Stairlift working more smoothly now.

Customer
United Kingdom | 22 January 2025We got the stairlift installed 23 December 2023. It wasn't even installed a week when the first breakdown occurred. A part had to be replaced in a brand new lift. This is now the fourth time we've had to call them out, as of 22/01/25. It has been the same problem on all 4 occasions, the lift moves about 30cms and then stops, moves about 30cms and stops etc. There is a battery back-up in case of a power outage, there have been no interruptions to power supply. The code number given on the side of the lift says that it is a battery problem, they replaced the battery but the problem reoccurs. The battery is a backup, if the battery is failing, surely that means something else is wrong that necessitates the battery being used. People get lifts installed because they need them, now we are left waiting to know when they might come out and fix this recurring mistake. We asked for a service but they refused, saying it wasn't due until September this year. If this is what it is like when it is still in warranty, what is going to cost us when it is out of warranty?

United Kingdom | 22 January 2025The staff were drafted in from Manchester because of staff shortages in my local Stannah facility ( I live in South Wales ) and I understand my local facility is normally Bristol. Nonetheless the 2 staff involved were excellent and courteous and installed the stair lift in about 3 hours ( with only one cup of tea in between !!!).

Mr. John
United Kingdom | 22 January 2025Great product, well engineered. Changed our lives overnight; enabled my wife to escape from the bedroom she’d been trapped in. Helpful, highly competent staff.

United Kingdom | 21 January 2025Stairlift stopped working and so requested visit. When booking the visit I was asked if I wished to include the service, due in a couple of months time, at the same time. This seemed sensible and would save having a double journey and an engineer could be helping someone else. Then I received the double invoice. A small battery had required replacement but apart from the charge for that I have been charged nearly £400 for the total visit which lasted well under an hour. Stannah have explained that this is all set out in their Ts & Cs which it no doubt is. I still don't believe it is a way to treat customers. Despite seeking further information from me and receiving it the same day as their post there has subsequently been no further response from Stannah. Well it's been a month now and not a peep from Stannah. So any responses from Stannah to customer reviews here appear to be window dressing for public consumption.

United Kingdom | 21 January 2025The engineer who came to repair my outside chairlift was excellent, hence my given 5 stars. However, I am extremely disappointed in the number of times I have had to call you out when Chairlift breaks down which makes me believe that my outside chairlift is not fit for purpose. At a cost of over £3000 I would have expected better.
