I've been in business for almost 30 years and this is by far the worst bookkeeping experience I have ever had. They promised a quick turn around and then failed to deliver by asking us continuously for documents. I have never been requested for documents of this nature to prepare a P and L statement. But even worse, we sent documents upon documents and still had items that we had sent as uncategorized. I paid additional funds to have the P and L done quickly and it's been 4 months later.

Great team, thorough systems, easy sync after arduous setup. They're challenged mainly with continuity of staff, and handling less typical transactions or processes.

Being a new business owner, I didn’t have time to keep our books. I found Bench and have no regrets. I appreciate how diligent my bookkeeper is and keeping me up to date on tax related issues as well. When I have questions, someone always gets back to me with the right answer. I recommend them to my friends with small to medium sized businesses.

I was a little disappointed. (1) Many of my accounts do not play nice with their automated systems, so I have to do the work myself each month of sending them statements. (2) There have been errors in the accounting that I caught that I would think they would have caught first. Classification errors are normal and that's not what I mean. I mean missing transactions that were on the bank statement, numbers entered wrong, entered twice or mixing up credits with debits. (3) When Ebay changed their manner of handling and reporting my sales revenue, fees and taxes, Bench did not understand the new system correctly and it seemed inordinately difficult to get them to understand correctly. On the plus said, they are nice people and very accessible, and I think we got to a good set of books in the end. It was just more work for me than I had hoped. I am going to try somebody else.

I always managed my own books for my business. After getting about 9 months behind, I realized this was not something that should remain in my job description. I looked at hiring a local firm, but liked the idea of being able to have everything managed remotely with a nice online dashboard. Bench has been awesome. They caught up all my books and just closed the year out. Their communication is amazing. I have nothing but good things to say thus far. It's great to be able to look back at 2020's books and know exactly where my business is at.

Bench is a breath of fresh air compared to our year with local CPAs at comparable rates. They respond within days, instead of weeks, and the bookkeeping and accountant teams have a customer-first ethos. The instant view reports make reviewing our company's financial health easy. Love the visibility, ease of communication, and expertise of the team, as well as the tool itself which is extremely user friendly. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars: Onboarding was cumbersome, and there are extra steps and cost if you want to use more than their template GL categories, which wasn't explained at any time during their sales and onboarding process with us, but now that we're fully set up, the team understands our business and stays in communication to ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping.
