Bench has been perfect. It's easy to use and it simply works. I work with 5 accountants, the experience with Bench so far could not be better.

Solid bookkeeping. Their platform is very easy to use. I’m very happy that I can trust my books. The only con is occasionally my monthly books are a bit delayed. I would like it if transactions were categorized weekly rather than monthly.

Great platform and much better than our old accounting firm given the automatic integrations. The only reason we didn't give a 5-stars is because we don't feel like we have real insight into our business from the platform. It's really just accounting and financials for tax season. We'd love to see a dashboard with key indicators like unearned revenue balance, current cash in real time, forecasted revenue based on unearned, trends in our expenses, etc. Support team couldn't be better or more communicative. The platform is super user friendly for mission critical tasks like expense categorization. All around great product and getting better.

I cannot tell you how much I love Bench. They not only take care of my books, but they keep me accountable so nothing falls through the cracks. They connect directly with my accountant and keep me in the loop when they do. I'm so excited to see how Bench grows and the offerings they're able to provide as they do.

One year into their use and I am frankly not all that impressed. I thought that using Bench.co would speed up my business administrative duties so that I could focus on building value for my clients. Instead, I am asked quarterly and annually to leave notes on transactions that already have notes on how to itemize per the chart of accounts. It's as if they never read the comments or tags. I asked how I could make changes to the chart of accounts and you cannot do so on your own. Instead, their team must create it in the background and then let you know it's there (but you cannot view it). In fairness, they are always polite and friendly. The business model is seriously flawed, however. Various bookkeepers consistently reach out only to ask me to leave comments on top of the comments that were previously made. It's become apparent they must have a high turnover with no succession plan. Thus, I am left to work harder and spend more money than if I completed the books myself. In the end, it would have been cheaper and faster if I continued to do my ownbookkeeping.

Average Experience

Overall the experience has been average. There are times where you feel as though your books are just sitting and there are times that the work is great. You can tell that an app automatically categorizes things and at times they don't do a good scan of where transactions land. Recently (first quarter of 2020) I feel as though the performance has been poor. They have apologized and said it is due to preparing Tax Packages for other clients but the communication at least to warn us that this is a busy season would have been great. We are in March and they are still working on January. They ask you for the information that you sent to them a while back. Overall, I am only still working with Bench because the cost is lower than other bookkeepers. If I had a choice Bench would not be my top choice. I am currently looking for other options. The team members are polite and always great to work with but the work is meh. Especially for them to say there is a team working on your books.

Very helpful, interactive and responsive. Would like more educational resources for those of us that don't know accounting and some of the vocabulary.
