I’ve just received my second bag (a small, customised book bag) from Henry and it is just fabulous. The quality of design and manufacture is superb. My original satchel is now 10 years old and travels around the world with me. I travel on business to remote parts of the world, with some of the most inhospitable climates imaginable and the bag is as good today as it was when new. Scuffed certainly, but no signs of wear and tear; I suspect it is a virtually indestructible product. Henry’s customer service is great. He deals with us as individuals, not just another order. I really appreciate the way in which his creativity can solve user problems and his willingness to accommodate quirky requests. All in all, fantastic products in terms of design, quality of manufacture and durability.

Many years ago I purchased a Henry Tompkins leather bag, and it is the only bag I have used in some 15 odd years, however it needed a little bit of repair, which Henry was pleased to do. I also decided at the same time that I would like another bag made exactly the same as my old one, and Henry was more than happy to oblige. He was extremely helpful and there was excellent communication. The new bag is even better than the old one. I think Henry's bags are the best and you won't be disappointed if you purchase one.

I bought a large satchel with all the options available with the upgraded latigo leather. It’s a beautifully made bag and one I have enjoyed using. I imagine it will patina very nicely with time. Henry was very friendly and helpful and I can recommend him whole heartedly.

What more can be said about this superb leather worker? He has just repaired the zip on my (Tomkin) bag, which I broke through overloading, free of charge. The bag is a work of art and has been my constant companion for many years. Friends have called it a variety of things, 'a dead deer', 'a giant scrotum', 'a man bag' and so on but it seems alive, I love it......

Henry means it when he says he builds his bags to last a lifetime. He has just replaced the zip in a bag I bought in 1998. It is wonderful to find a true craftsman who will do repairs. I have several of his bags and they are all lovely, beautifully made, practical and often admired. It is great in the throwaway society to find something enduring.

After purchasing and returning several large bags I found the Htleather web page. I purchased the extra large Tote bag and have to say I’m very happy with it. The price was a fraction of what I’d paid for some of the bags I returned. The quality is amazing. The whole experience of buying from this company was positive. I’m now deciding the design for a bespoke bag.

This is the second bag I have purchased for my wife. What Henry provides is pretty rare. Classic designs that are beautifully made, strong, and understated. The first bag has aged brilliantly and functions the same as when I bought it. The second (a large shopper) will know doubt be the same. The bag received had a huge scratch across it. I sent a photo to Henry who initially responded to say he was perplexed about the extent of the distressed look and asked what the packaging was like. The packaging was fine. There was a lot of back and forth about treatment creams and Henry stating the leather was supposed to be that distressed. The condition of the bag looked nothing like the photos. He offered another bag and to refund my return postage. I declined as I was unable to wait. Henry did refund the bag but didn’t refund any postage costs. So, to be aware even if the bag is not in good condition / faulty ie scratched would will be paying the postage which both ways amounted to £23.

I have been looking for an English, hand-made leather case for some time and came across Henry’s bags during a search. I received my ‘Full Monty’ a few weeks ago and have not been disappointed; it is perfect and very practical - I can’t fault it at all. I am a very happy customer!
