United Kingdom | 13 January 2011This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered! Rude dimwitted kids answering the phone and basically telling lies just to get rid of you. They don't have the stock they claim to have. When they have taken your money they probably just order your item from some shed in China, leaving you to wait forever for it to be delivered. You'd think by looking at the website that this is a proper big online seller. It is a tiny little shop in a dump of a town. I will be writing to trading standards about this, and also to Micro Mart magazine, where I originally saw the company advertised. If you paid by credit card, cancel the payment asap. Advance Tec lied and told me they had cleared my payment and the item had been dispatched. I checked with the bank, and no payment had been taken. Because I had paid by debit card I couldn't cancel the payment- so just had the card itself cancelled immediately. A bit inconvenient but it gave me great satisfaction to know that Advance Tec won't be getting my money. I've since bought the same item from Amazon, who immediately took payment and have dispatched my item. Advance Tec lies, cheats and is completely unprofessional. Avoid at all costs! Don't waste your time phoning them as they blatantly lie, and will feed you all kinda of rubbish just to get you off the phone. This whole episode has taught me a major lesson in checking reviews before I make a purchase. Notice how the positive reviews here are so positive it's obvious they've been written by the dimwit Advance Tec kids themselves. From experience I can highly recommend Aria, Scan, and Amazon as alternative sites to buy from.

United Kingdom | 07 December 2010Placed an order online for one of the latest ATI HD6870 graphics card because of the price and stock availability. The website stated 2-3 days delivery service to my surprises i received an e-mail from advance technologies my goods have been dispatched and that was on the same day I placed the order. The following morning approximately 10.am i received a TXT on my mobile saying my goods shall be with me within the hour. Now I’m at work can’t get home in time to receive the goods so I came up with the bright idea to ring my wife an tell her to stay in because any minute now my parcel will be arriving, surely enough 11.00am on the nose these a knock on the door and there’s a delivery driver stood there with my parcel. Excellent service would recommend advance technologies to everyone.

United Kingdom | 01 December 2010I ordered a build your own PC kit for my son for Christmas. It turned up in two parcels. I opened both to check the contents as per the invoice inside. I found that the hard drive was missing. I telephoned them and they told me that as the hard drive had been scanned into the parcel and I had signed for the parcel on arrival then they can't do anything. According to them I should have checked all the contents while the delivery driver waited at the door! I have never known such poor customer service and I would advise you NOT TO SHOP HERE!

United Kingdom | 28 October 2010Bought goods, brand new system totalling £2000. Memory turned out to be faulty, went into store and no replacement memory was available, waiting time was supposed to be 2 days which was fair enough. Came back 3 days later, memory still wasnt available. However alternative memory of a much higher spec was available. This was given free of charge for the delay in the arrival of the original order. Was over the moon, as the service was amazing. Also rang me on the second day to say memory wasnt instore.

United Kingdom | 22 October 2010purchased a motherboard approximately 12 months ago which developed a fault. Contacted advancetec customer services and spoke with danny who was very helpful luckily the motherboard was still within the warranty period, he issued an RMA No and i sent the faulty motherboard back. Within 3 days the returned board was tested and deemed faulty by one of there technicians who then advised me a replacement board shall be sent to me which happened to be an upgraded model. I have now received my new motherboard which is working fine in my PC. Excellent communication and there delivery service is fantastic a txt was sent advising me when my goods are going to be with me, whould recommend this company to anyone.

United Kingdom | 21 October 2010delivery service is brilliant, they use DPD who send you a txt of the actual time when its going to be delievered, next day, super fast. HOWEVER if your order gets any small single problem, such as an item out of stock or a faulty product, you enter a whole world of poor service ive never before thought possible. the technical department guy Lee appears to be at work approx 1 day every 2 weeks. Keehin, the area manager, is quite helpful, and the online instant support is pretty good, but expect a VERY LONG WAIT for any problems to be sorted. Phone calls will not be returned, they are not going to call you back. Get used to that fact. Emails will be replied to with rarely more than one sentence. Took 3 emails and 2 phone calls just to get them to email me the returns form so i could send my item back. I actually called these guys so many times over the last few weeks that ive involuntarily memorised the main sales number and the tech support number (which does not get answered. period.). Took me 3 WEEKS to finally get a straight answer as to why my replacement item had not been dispatched, and that was "its discontinued". only got that out of them because i threatened to get Trading Standards involved. now awaiting a full refund (thank god i paid by Paypal!). TOP TIPS- 1. Always get the name of whoever you speak to on the phone else you are back to square next time you call up. 2. If you get a faulty product- GET A FULL REFUND ASAP. DO NOT go down the line of awaiting a replacement- Lee (the tech guy who is never there) first has to test every product to check it is actually faulty, even if you send it back with a proper diagnostic sheet. The faulty item is then sent back to the distributor warehouse. A replacement then has to authorised and sent out to you by snailmail. Thats alot of stages (each taking a few days) for something to go wrong and the info to then filter back to you through a company which avoids customer communication like the plague. This is the first time I've ever felt obligated to give a company a bad review, and i use ebay! This whole process would not have been so infuriating if AdvanceTec had just communicated with me! kept me informed of whats going on! but its seriously like getting blood out of a stone. anyway, hope this has been informative for potential buyers and if AdvanceTec reads this (which i think they will), try to pick up some constructive criticism!!

United Kingdom | 20 October 2010I ordered something from them having seen their website states 2-3 working days delivery at a cost of £5.95. I paid by paypal and had no comfimation from Advance Tec besides the automated Paypal email. 3 working days later, no parcel. I emailed but got no reply, I called twice and the first time I was told the courier would email me, the second one said that it had been despatched but couldn't give me the details. I don't think my parcel is going to come and suspect i will have to report Paypal. Either way, I wouldn't ever shop with them again, truly terrible company.

United Kingdom | 14 October 2010Dec '09 I entered Advance Tec wanting to buy a new Motherboard, Graphics Card, Processor and RAM, this was for my Dad. I had been on the website and had gotten I rough idea of what products I wanted. I explained roughly what I was looking for, and because a Graphics Card I wanted wasn't in stock, they looked for a similar card. To keep within my budget they changed other products that would still suit each other but would appeal to my budget more. Fair Enough! The Graphics Card that they offered me at this point was still in the back, and they said it was the last of that particular Card (BFG GeForce 9500GT 1GB). It sounded a reasonable card so I chose that one. When the salesman brought it out to the till, the box had been opened and looked tatty, I asked him to check that all the bits were inside, he checked, they were, and he stated that someone must have wanted to look at the card, or looked for a lead. I accepted his excuse and made my purchase. 4 - 5 months down the line, my dad began having problems with the Graphics Card, strange noises from the fan and occasional glitches in the Graphics. I phoned up for advice, and it was suggested that dust or an insect might have got into the fan. The problem and noise seemed to go away, and because of my Dad running his own business, a lot of his work is done on his computer, so he opted to see how it goes. This was to avoid loss of a computer, as the Motherboard has no onboard graphics. Its now 10 months down the line and many problems occur with the system, my Dad ran separate diagnostic checks on the components to find the problem. It turned out that the memory on the Graphics Card had serious faults. So we took the card in its box with the diagnostic report back to Advance Tec. My dad knew more about the technical side so he chose to speak to man behind the counter, he stated when the graphics card was bought and the problem, and the 'Salesman' responded by saying, "It's a dinosaur" while sniggering. This was not an answer nor was it advice. The Card was purchased 10 months ago, and apparently this card is no longer in production and BFG have gone under. So it then occurred to me that they managed to offload their old stock on me because I didn't know the technical side. The price of the card was £40 and I understand that this is a very low budget for a Graphics Card, however my dad is now out of a computer and cannot continue with business work, check emails for potential business or email customers. Because it was a saturday when we took the Card in they said it would be Monday before a Technician could do a Check on it. Tuesday, we gave them a ring, to see what was happening, The Technician wasn't in Monday or the Tuesday. Phoned up Wednesday, no Technician in again. Phoned Friday, no Technician in. It had already been a weeks loss of earnings for my Dad and still it wasn't looking good for the following week. Monday I phoned up, a Technician has tried the Graphics Card in one machine and are preparing to try it in another. This started to get annoying, Not only do they have a report from my Dad, they feel it necessary to test the same Graphics Card in two machines wasting more time pointlessly it seems. I phoned Tuesday, they confirmed the card is faulty and said they can't send it back to manufacturer because BFG were no longer about, so they wanted to speak to the distributor. Today (Wednesday 13th Oct) I phoned to find out what the decision was, and it's been sent to distributor and its going to be at least 2 - 4 weeks!!! So 2 weeks already gone, this is potentially 6 weeks loss of earnings for my Dad. This is not acceptable, so I've contacted Trading Standards who put me onto Consumer Direct and, unlike Advance Tec, they were very helpful, and I now know all of my rights and their rights, and as well as writing this review, I am writing a official Letter for Advance Tec, with the help of Consumer Direct, from my friends computer. Because of a £40 Graphics Card and bad Customer Service my Dad is loosing a potential £250 - £350 a week. They won't loan one until the problem is resolved and they won't give me my money back, so i can shop elsewhere. The attitude from the Staff I spoke to was inappropriate and not one bit helpful. I expected more help and at least advice.

United Kingdom | 13 October 2010I have to admit advance tec have one of the best delivery services around. Placed an order and within 1hr i had an email in my inbox stating the date my parcel would be there. come the following day i received a text message early morning stating my parcel was out for delivery that day and even give me a time when it was due to be there. This is by far the best delivery service i've seen so far.

United Kingdom | 24 September 2010I ordered an Adcancetec floppy disc drive and card reader which arrived in good time. It was easy to install and works well and fast. I had a cheaper card reader before which was dead slow.Only point for future buyers is to make sure your motherboard has a floppy connection still on it, as newer ones have dropped these.

United Kingdom | 23 September 2010After ordering a PC case which was listed as being in stock, I emailed to check for a delivery date, after receiving no response after the 12 hour time given, I called to chase. I was told that I had been sent an email (not sure which address that went to then!) and it informed me my order would be with me in 4 weeks! i then asked to cancel, and was told my payment would be back with me in 6 days, excellent.... So no product and Advancetec have my money, I would avoid at all costs!

United Kingdom | 01 September 2010I was interested in purchasing some computer components to use in conjunction with some other bits in my PC system. After speaking to their technical department to ensure the products would work with my older items which i have to admit they helped me alot on, I spoke to their sales team who assisted me in processing my orderd.. Excellent service from both sides. Thanks guys!

United Kingdom | 30 August 2010I purchased the ATFx vision black system from Advance Tec just over a week ago which I received on Friday just past. The system arrived fairly quickly and adiquatly packed. I have had the system for the past 3 days and as of yet I've had no issues with it, I was impressed by their customer services and especialy with their technical department who give me a few extra tips on how to make it run a little quicker. Hands down I have to give it to them and rest assured I will be using you again in the near futur.

United Kingdom | 30 August 2010motherboard paid for £177.55 arrived faulty - sent back -they said they needed to update the bios and had to wait for part from USA (proved untrue) sent it back claiming to have fixed it but it still had fault - returned again but they claim Parcel Force damaged it- told us the hard drive had come loose and fallen on motherboard (not possible) said ram had fallen on motherboard whole computer must have been dropped but no damage to case! Refused to return any of it without payment of another £177.55 for new motherboard told us to make claim from courier. Have reported to trading standards. They tell constant lies to get your money. If it were possible I would've given them NO stars

United Kingdom | 28 July 2010If you value your hard earned cash then these people should be avoided at all costs. Before making an order I queried them on the compatibility of 3 items that they stock and received the answer that there would be no problem with the components. On this basis I put in the order worth over £450. The next day after reading an online review that contradicted the answer I received from Advance Tech I contacted them again questioning the compatibility of the parts and quoting the review I had read. This time they replied saying they had contacted the manufacturer and in fact the parts were not compatible so the order was promptly cancelled. After checking with my bank a week later the money still hadn’t been refunded so I contacted them several times by telephone and e-mail and got fobbed off with various excuses like that the entire accounts department were in a meeting and later that my money had been refunded. To cut a long story short it took over a month to get my money refunded and this was only after intervention from my bank and Trading Standards. This company seems to operate in the grey area of the law, they will tell you anything in order to get your money but when they have it they will keep it for as long as they can and only refund when threatened with legal action. Both the bank and Trading Standards require you to wait 30 days before they can take any action on your behalf.
