After a few more messages and a phone call, I agreed to take a train the following day to buy the car. My journey was from Teesside to Gloucester. Mike was a gentleman and collected me from Gloucester train station. The Audi A1 was as described. Mike was always polite, friendly and not pushy. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Cotswold Automotive from start to finish. Highly recommended.

United Kingdom | 18 November 2024My partner and I bought 2 cars from this dealership at the beginning of October 2024 and both have turned out to be unsafe and damaged - despite the companies claim their vehicles are checked over by mechanics before selling. During the first week, the clutch and flywheel on my partners car went and had to be repaired costing over £1700 - whilst his car was in the garage, the mechanic noted that much of the underside of the car had extensive damage and components had been cable tied, parts were not connected or were missing, botched welding had taken place, many fixtures were also missing as well as the rear window leaking washer fluid. I on the other hand noted a strong burning smell coming from both rear brakes the day I got the car home, to which I’d reported to the dealership straight away. After further research I found out there was a recall on the car - again I reported this to the dealership as soon as I found out. The dealership agreed to take a look at the car, to which the brakes were photographed and it was agreed that they would change the brakes as they were unsafe, however the dealership insisted on waiting until the car had been to Vauxhall to sort out the braking system recall before taking the car back to Cotswold to change the brakes - despite being explained that Vauxhall would not be replacing any parts, only reprogramming the braking system computers. My partner spoke with Mike who requested we visited a local garage (as we live 2 hours away and we were told this would be easier for us due to the distance) to have the brakes sorted and to attain a report for how much the brakes would cost to fix. After doing so we sent the report and quote as requested, however because the cost of the brakes was more than the usual 3 month warranty the company give, we were then asked to take the car back to Cotswold so their mechanics could inspect - seemingly meaning the inspection we had been requested to do had been a waste of time - plus how can we trust these mechanics to do their job when they quite clearly did not in the first place? It was claimed both cars had full service history, yet one hadn’t been stamped since 2019 and the other had corroded/damaged filters which would not have been the case if the car had been serviced. Additionally, another family member purchased a car from this dealership not too long before us and he has also noted problems with cars steering, clutch and gearbox. After the endless circles and back and forwarding with little to no progress and despite both cars being within their 3 month warranty, we will be taking legal action towards this company. The staff at the dealership are seemingly friendly and helpful until they have your money or there is a problem with the car. After reading many of the reviews it seems we are not the only customers who have had similar experiences with this company and I would strongly advise against wasting your money and time with them. They claim all their vehicles are inspected by their mechanics before they are sold, which is hard to believe considering how much damage was found with our cars. They are selling dangerous vehicles to trusting customers with below par aftercare and excuses. I would NEVER purchase from this company again nor recommend them to anyone.

We got 3 cars from here and they all had serious problems even though they said the cars have been checked over with a mechanic. One of the cars needed a new full set of back brakes that they said they was going to do then told me to get a quote and get it done on my end then they didn’t want to pay for it and told me to bring the car in for them to do . You will be messed about and will not get anywhere with is company, the second car they sold me was in a accident and was covered up, the bumper had cable ties holding it on , the headlights have a home made bracket holding them on , there’s loads of bolts missing and a few snapped off . A earth cable not even even attached , they said both cars have a fully service history butt they don’t and have not even been serviced , the clutch went in a few days of having it , you can’t trust this company, do not buy a car from here and stay well away from.

United Kingdom | 18 November 2024This is my first review ever because I usually can't be bothered. I have been played by this company through and through, and boy have I learned a lesson. Trust your gut and when you first turn up somewhere and it doesn't feel right... walk away! And don't let them know how inexperienced you are with the car buying process! Anyway... car bought, money transferred, car driven away and within 1 week the car is useless. Car returned for them to sort it, costs starting to build for rental cars and accommodation. Impossible to get hold of them and when I did manage to about 2 weeks after dropping the car off, the problem they have discovered with the car changes from this to that to something else. Total lies and delay tactics. People away on leave without anyone else taking over the case, phoning me to say they are waiting for an update (from their non-existent mechanic garage maybe?). Eventually I get sick of it and demand a full refund. More delays, more begging me to give them more time, more shifty dodgy-ness. Eventually I push and get agreement for a full refund, when they then make me wait for a 14 day "processing period" for the credit note to be processed!!! Er.... no love, I'm not a business I'm a customer so please give me my money! I'm already about £1000 down in car rentals and accommodation so how about you pay me for that as well? And even after their ridiculous 14 day period (which by the way wasn't for a credit card processing etc it was a bank transfer - they're immediate!) they still haven't paid. Weird though that as soon as I threaten court action and interest being added they can pay me immediately and in the evening time too! Stay WELL AWAY and find a car elsewhere. If you want to decide for yourself, be my guest... head down there and take a look - dodgy
