Doug Whybrow kept us well informed throughout the conveyancing process with regular phone calls to both ourselves and our solicitor. James Nunn and Olivia Vanlint continuously supplies us with information on new properties and viewings during the house hunting process, keeping us in the loop with everything going on. Would highly recommend this branch.

United Kingdom | 14 August 2019Helen Mehmet graciously drove me from property to property in winter 2018/19, listened to our requirements, saw how much we had brought from South Africa, and then searched for something that could meet our needs. I think she did a good job of showing me a range of sizes and locations so that I could understand where our property fits into the housing stock on the market. She was always friendly and professional and came up with two properties that were potentially suitable. There is probably a bigger property out there but we settled on a house built in 1956. Being old it needs some work but it is ours: no more paying rent (and therefore paying off the landlord's mortgage!). We have parking, a garage and a room we have dedicated to laundry: drying, ironing, folding all in one place. Fantastic! Buying a house in the UK was onerous: we discovered it is a very expensive process, complicated, confusing and stressful. In that regard our solicitor from Premier Property really looked after our interests and advised us.

In the process of leaving the property we discovered that the electrics have not been tested since 1992 with the recommendation that they were tested again in 1997 written on the box. When we informed Intercounty of this they stated that it is not a legal requirement to test the electrical safety of a property! However, it is a legal responsibility to check that the property is electrically safe. We also discovered that all electrics were kept on a wooden box which is of course a fire hazard not only to the property that we were renting but to surrounding properties! Intercounty don't seem to take the safety of their tenants very seriously which is disappointing especially when young children were living in the household. At the beginning of the tenancy we had just moved in with a new born baby, the property smelt of burning rubber. It took intercounty weeks to get anyone to come and look at it. As soon as they discovered that it was not carbon monoxide (which is odourless) they failed to bother with any further tests. It was down to us to get out environmental health. Prior to moving into the property it was infested with moths which intercounty failed to disclose. We spoke multiple times to them and they failed to do anything about it. The moths destroyed numerous items of our clothing and soft furnishings despite our best attempts to get rid of them. Upon leaving the property intercounty are expecting us to pay for the damage caused by the moths to the carpets! They have no trace of any of the complaints that we made about the property during our stay and it is now up to us to find evidence of this. Really disappointed by their appalling customer service and the way that they have endangered our family.

I was most impressed with Dan from the initial meeting, he was very thorough, had excellent knowledge of the rental market and great advice for a new landlord. He worked with me to my timeframe and after advertising the flat to rent it was taken 4 days later! I wasn’t aware there was so much to sort out when renting a property, however I can say that working with Dan has made the process as easy as possible for me. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it was a query I had via email or telephone, and always responded the same day. When I was packing he came to me at the flat as it was easier for me.
