Please be aware this company carry our credit checks with Experian and then do not tell you why they are unable to provide your energy unless you provide them with a large deposit which they will hold on file - £444.27. Here is a copy of the letter I wrote back to Go To due to being absolutely furious when I have no financial problems and a 99.9% credit score.......... Dear Aimee Thank you for your email. I’m afraid having my own checks in place, I can confirm that you do not meet my specific criteria therefore, I would much rather keep the £444.27 deposit you require in my own bank. I am delighted that you have helped me to make a saving of £51.70 per year further to now signing up with an alternative provider. Thank heavens I never went ahead with yourselves. Your organisation disgusts me as to not providing the reasons why I have not met your criteria. Having spoken to your colleague last night who was no help whatsoever, I’ve now written to Experian from a curiosity aspect to find out what the problem is, but I’m presuming they will ask me to contact you again so I will most likely never know. I am pleased to say my Experian credit score is 99.9% and I’m also £25 in credit with my previous utility provider which is confirmation that I am excellent in terms of my finances. Just to doubly confirm - my going elsewhere is your loss and actually has now turned into my gain!! Do ‘Go To’ energy think they are so elite that they are the only energy provider on the planet. I don’t wish to see legitimate companies stop trading but with your ridiculous and poor processes in place, your unnecessary alienating potential customers and therefore you could be soon in a dangerous situation. I realise there are potential customers who may be in previous arrears, have bad credit score ratings and are unable to cover your costs but have absolutely no idea what the problem was with myself. Anyhow, it all turned out good for me. I look forward to leaving a review shortly to warn others.

After I explained I did not want this increase as I was always in credit with my account, the young lady understood this & said fine we will leave it as before.

United Kingdom | 22 February 2021Effected a switch to GoTo Energy. They tried to take £240 out of my account prior to the switch date and so prior to being legally responsible for supplying energy. They are cowboys. Beware of them, Update: They say read the Terms and Conditions (small print). You don't get these until you have elected to switch. I have no problem paying for energy in advance - but not before the switch date when they are not even the supplier ! They are Cowboys. Avoid ! Update: Again a sneaky response from GoTo which only adds to my feelings of the ethics of this Company. They brazenly don't deny that they take money from you before they start supplying you. You are not told that you will be paying them before they even supply your with any energy until you receive their Welcome Pack by email - after you have elected to switch. So you are paying two energy companies simultaneously - the one you are receiving the energy from and GoTO who take your money before they supply you. They simply want to increase their cash deposits from honest customers. Fortunately I caught them out and will go to a more honest company as I was able to address this within the 14 day cooling off period. But others should beware. I want to buy energy and have no problem paying in advance (note the sarcasm in their response about it being a shock to me !) but not before they become my supplier as I am not a Bank providing an interest free loan to Go TO.

Customers service needs improvement, they took 3 days to answer my call and aren’t very transparent on my questions. I thought the customers service team leader, that I finally spoke to was not very friendly and not very helpful.
