United Kingdom | 10 July 2019The surveyor from Walker-Dunn failed to pick up on the fact of 4 upstairs doors only 3 shut properly with the latch failing to find the keep. Moving the keep was only a simple fix for 2 of the 3 door affected. Walker-Dunn failed to identify the back the garage is extended with poor brick work which the extended portion falling away from the back of the original build with upto 1 inch crack in places and most importantly failed to identify the poor condition of two 3 m wide windows. The key issue of the windows is the rubber seals have shrunk by over 1 inch in the corners and sediment / water is present between the panes which cannot be cleaned. When challenged, they immediately pushed back saying their report highlighted a safety issue with the downstairs window and that was enough to warrant a further inspection from a windows expert-the report certainly didnt mention that that further inspection was required or that the condition of any of the windows was poor. Further whilst highlighting the other issues mentioned, the surveyor stated they couldn't be expected to outline every fault, and ignored the obviousness that a very poor inspection had taken place. Clearly with this many faults the survey was poor at best, but apparently the marks on the windows were not there when they visited, and the previous owner, or the estate agent who recommended them wouldn't help so we had to settle for a 50% survey refund.
