Contacted AmeriSafe on 8/24/24 for information on pricing for our out of state move. A representative named Alec spoke with us, we explained we are planning to move over 2,500 miles away, gave the sq footage for our home including number of bedrooms. At the time we hadn't started packing and didn't have a box count. He said it would be no problem and that he just needed rough numbers, and at a later date someone would contact us to schedule an appointment for a full estimate. He asked for a full payment upfront but we said we can only give a deposit. We paid $2,500 and let him know our move needs to be scheduled for 9/11. On 9/4 i called Alec to let him know, that no one's contacted me for a follow up appointment and we had way more stuff than in the quote he said it won't be an issue and to call customer service. On 9/11 no one showed up to move us, this is when we learned of the AmeriSafe scam. They con you into paying up front, make up a bogus estimate, then give it to mover. The mover shows up a day late, and low and behold you're estimate was wrong, you owe us more mover, but since we're a day late you're now in a bind as you have to be out of your house and have no time to get additional quotes. This is what happens to us. The actual mover (ASAP Movers) showed up end of day on 9/12. Asked for 10k when the original price was 8k, loaded up our stuff, said they need another truck and left. They came back the next day, the day the Buyer was taking possession of the house loaded up another truck and asked for another 14k. After we refused they drove off with our stuff and have been holding it hostage for 3 weeks. Save yourself the headache, don't do business with these scammers from Florida. They have hundreds of complaints.

AmeriSafe is a BROKER and has NO interest whatsoever in your actual move. After they give you an “estimate” and secure your deposit, your move is passed off to a local logistics company and you are not informed of ANY of the details like the name of the company that is going to show up at your door. After EVERY aspect of your move falls apart (moving date, delivery date, space alotted on the truck, etc.), and you are charged more than you could ever imagine for “extras”, AmeriSafe takes no responsibility for the whole stressful mess! They claim that they are only the “middle man” and that anything that happens between you and the movers has NOTHING to do with them!! Their customer service and support is appalling… actually non-existent!! So you are SOLD a move by AmeriSafe that they take NO RESPONSIBILITY for. I was originally quoted $2600 on the estimate and ended up paying over $6000 just to get my things back!! It was a nightmare from start to finish!!!

I had a horrible experience with the movers. Took 10 days to receive our items. No one explained this to us prior to picking up our item. I wish this platform could allow photos. When the boxes were unpacked there were many boxes damaged. They put heavy bins on top of wardrobe boxes and the wardrobe boxes were completely collapsed. Many broken items. A nob on an antique desk was broken off. They wrapped our peleton control panel and it looked like a child wrapped it. We have someone else’s chair. Extremely bad!

An Absolute Nightmare with AmeriSafe Moving Company I cannot express how infuriated and disgusted I am with the appalling service provided by AmeriSafe Moving Company during our move from Georgia to California. What was supposed to be a straightforward relocation turned into a relentless ordeal that drained us financially, emotionally, and physically. Deceptive Pricing and Hidden Fees Initially, we were quoted $2,500 for our move—a figure that seemed suspiciously low compared to an $18,000 quote from another company. We should have trusted our instincts. After updating our inventory list, the price inexplicably jumped to $5,000. While we anticipated some increase, we were blindsided when the foreman arrived and declared the actual cost would be $9,000. This astronomical hike came without warning, forcing us to scramble for funds we didn't have. It's clear AmeriSafe engages in bait-and-switch tactics, luring customers with low estimates before inflating costs when it's too late to back out. Unprofessional and Unreliable Movers Without any prior notice, we discovered that AmeriSafe had outsourced our move to a brokered company—a fact never disclosed to us. The movers arrived with a truck too small to hold our belongings, delaying our departure and causing me to reschedule with my new employer. Their lack of preparedness was not just inconvenient; it was utterly unprofessional. Abysmal Customer Service and Communication After waiting four agonizing weeks, we received a vague call promising delivery in "3-6 days." The movers eventually showed up unannounced on the seventh day with a massive semi-truck, blocking our residential street and attracting the attention of the police. Common sense dictates that a semi-truck isn't suitable for most neighborhoods, but apparently, AmeriSafe lacks both foresight and logistical competence. To add insult to injury, we were ambushed with an additional $1,200 fee for a shuttle service since the semi-truck couldn't access our home. This outrageous charge was never mentioned beforehand. When we reached out for clarification, both AmeriSafe and the brokered company dismissed our concerns and were shockingly rude. The dispatcher even had the audacity to yell at my wife, who was alone with our three-month-old baby, causing her immense stress and emotional distress. Damaged Belongings and Incomplete Service Upon finally receiving our items, we were appalled to find our boxes crushed, mishandled, and carelessly dumped throughout our home. Fragile items were not respected despite clear labeling, one of our safes was damaged beyond use, and the movers even knocked over our TV in front of us. To top it all off, despite disassembling our bed during pickup, the movers refused to reassemble it, leaving my pregnant wife with scoliosis to sleep uncomfortably after weeks without a proper bed. A Warning to Potential Customers AmeriSafe Moving Company operates with a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction, honesty, and professionalism. Their practices are deceitful, their communication is appalling, and their service is nothing short of disgraceful. We were left $10,500 poorer, emotionally exhausted, and feeling utterly violated by this entire experience. Final Thoughts It's unacceptable for a company to treat its customers with such contempt. We demand immediate action to rectify these issues, including a formal apology and appropriate compensation for the undue stress, additional costs, and damages incurred. AmeriSafe Moving Company needs to reevaluate its business practices immediately. Byron and Hayley Wade We hope this review serves as a stark warning to anyone considering using AmeriSafe Moving Company. Don't make the same mistake we did—steer clear of this company at all costs.

Scam artists. Tried to upcharge $3000 upon arrival and arrived with 3 people in a rented truck. I'm certain they would have held our items hostage too. Kick rocks scammers.

Beware this company rips you off! Original Estimate was for 1335 Cu. Ft. All along in our communications with the AmeriSafe Moving Services we were assured we were only going to be charged for ACTUAL Cubic Feet utilized and not ESTIMATED. At the time of pick up in Chicago it was REPRESENTED we were using 2,000 Cu Ft of space. And were told we needed to pay the difference*approximately 665 Cubic ft extra. When the truck arrived for delivery, it was packed to under 1,150 Cu Ft of space. A SIGNIFICANT difference of approximately 850 Cu Ft. You can view pictures I took upon arrival of our delivery truck. When I went on the truck to take the pictures the movers asked why I was taking pictures and he answered his own question with "are you not agreeing with the Cubic Footage charged. This tells me this is a common practice in the moving industry and does not comply with any standard of good business practices. This is the difference of being charged for 2000 cubic feet on only using 1150 square. This difference is the 850 Cu Ft X $3.30 $2,805 plus 12% Fuel Surcharge on our Cu Ft by $336 = $3186. WE were over charged $3186. We reported to the company, and the said they would get back to us. Nobody contacted us and every time we called the disconnected us or put us into someone's voices mail. If I could give negative star, I would. This is the absolute worst moving company that I have used.

AmeriSafe brokered my move from California to Florida. I thought everything had gone well until I finished unpacking and realized a large box of my kitchen items was missing. All my cutlery, all my knives, and all my mixing bowls were not delivered to my new address. There’s no excuse for this since all boxes were tagged with my information on them. There was no effort to contact me or to deliver my missing items. They also broke a handmade Amish rocking chair during the move.

Our moving adventure began in July 2024 with a telephone evaluation of our belongings which resulted in a quite reasonable rate quote. In hindsight, it was a deliberate effort to securing a contract. Two days before our scheduled pack out, we were confronted with a "reevaluation", and our quote literally doubled. I suppose we could have cancelled, but we were literally days before our scheduled move in August and all the other moving parts and schedules that that involved. We acquiesced and moved forward. The pack out/load out went pretty well; attentive, careful, professional. We learned after they finished that they were only responsible for delivery to a central warehouse in NJ. Delivery, however, was a completely different story. We at first were told our belongings were "in the area", and that they could easily be delivered on the date we requested. Confirming this a few days later, we were told that the delivering driver was now in Salt Lake City and he requested that we buy him an air ticket in order to get back. We refused. A day later he informed us that he was loading our belongings in Los Angeles and would deliver our items at 8-9pm. We moved to San Jose; Los Angeles is hardly "in the area". We insisted on our scheduled date and time (1 day later than agreed previously); he arrived with our goods in a rented U-Haul truck, with 2 helpers who admitted they had been hired locally that morning. Every single box that came off that truck had been crushed, mangled, torn, man-handled. Agreed upon services (unpacking the kitchen) were initially refused, ultimately reluctantly agreed to. We had some damage, but surprisingly little considering the condition of our boxes. AmeriSafe CS rep put all fault onto the subcontracted moving company (Cobra Van Lines), and after a couple of tense phone conversations admitted that what they (AmeriSafe) were able to find out from Cobra was remarkably sparse and incomplete. Then, all communications stopped. After paying what we did, we would have been far, far, better off contracting with a national, named, moving company. So should you.

This is a terrible company. They are simply a middleman who just try to give you a low quote and promise everything and then don't deliver on it and blame the customer for their own incompetence.. I booked a move for mid August in May. They didn't take a full iventory as they said I could just fill a whole truck, I questioned if he meant a big moving truck (semi) and they agreed. I had no exact address (out of state) at the time of booking so I called back in July as we discussed with the exact address. They tehn said we will either pick up on the Monday or Tuesday and tell me on Sunday. I said that was not what I booked and I need an actual date. The rep went immediately to aggressive mode and claimed that he had explained this at time of booking, despite him being a different person than the one I booked with. He was extremely rude and just threatened to hang up on me. The Friday before move they wanted an inventory to make sure it would fit on truck, I explained that they were sending a semi so my 3 room house will fit, they said they were only sending a 26 footer. This was too small by far. Again the rep was extremely angry and rude as I was saying this was not what I booked. I had to call several times on Sunday to find out when truck was coming with no answers. Finally the driver ( a completely different company) called at 6pm to say he would be there Tuesday. I explained the situation to him and his response was, "of course, always with this company". Ended up getting moved Tuesday with 2 trucks and they slapped on thousands more for 2nd truck. There is more detail to this but I had gone over inventory and everything else with them numerous times in May and they changed their story and denied knowledge of such things (allegedly the original rep no longer worked there). I have since learned that this is common occurence with Amerisafe and is there normal practice, under quote and add it on at the end with the threat (with no time to change) of not picking up/delivering. Absolute jokers, do not work with them.

Long story short...it was an awful experience. The laborers themselves were fine...they were just doing their job. But sales, customer service, dispatch, and the sub-contractors all along the way were terrible. To put it into a picture for you...after a horrible experience....2 strange non-professional movers showed up at my house in their own cars on the day my stuff was supposed to be delivered. When I asked who they were, they both replied that they had been hired off of CRAIGSLIST. I repeat over and over. Go to a long distance mover who will handle your stuff from start to finish without subcontracting. Save yourself the heartache and stress.
