United States | 12 April 2022Taxes for Expats has been so consistent with their service and support. Each year I have felt their software improves, responses from all of their employees is timely and helpful, and solutions to the process are consistently there. I can't say enough positive about TFX.

Australia | 11 April 2022Taxes For Expats (TFX) have prepared the returns for my partner and myself for the past 10 years. The process has always been easy for us and the service has always been good. This year, there were one or two unexpected intricacies and our preparer (Lynn) went out of her way to re-assure us and keep us informed. I can't remcommend TFX highly enough as a professional, responsive and efficient organisation whose preparers (we've had 3 or 4 over the journey) are all on the ball and very easy to deal with.

United States | 07 April 2022Filing my US taxes from overseas, using Taxes for Expats is an easy, worry-free experience. I answer a series of questions, upload my tax documents and Taxes for Expats does the rest. The tax expert allocated to me will query anything that may need further clarification, then file on my behalf. They also take care of FBAR.

Japan | 07 April 2022Overall, the service was good and fast. I was a bit concerned about the pricing structure per tax form but at the same time it is good to know that tax professionals give you sound advise.

Canada | 06 April 2022I have nothing but for being thankful. I'm an expat and they were very helpful getting me caught up on my taxes. Can be a tad expensive paying in foreign currency to USD but nothing you can do about that. Good work TFX!

United Kingdom | 06 April 2022After moving abroad I was so worried about finding a way to confidently file my taxes. Taxes for Expats was easy, efficient and wonderful! My favorite feature is the 'note' where you can leave a note/questions for anything you really aren't sure about, and get a confident answer back!

United Kingdom | 04 April 2022tl;dr I got bad/inconsistent tax advice from TFX. Their service and website are both good, and they are quite responsive to emails and polite. I used them in 2020 and was looking forward to using them in 2021. However, I received bad advice from TFX this year. The fundamental question is the following: are excess foreign tax credits in the Income Resourced by Treaty category eligible for carryback/carryforward? TFX says no. Every other practitioner I’ve run this by says yes. The IRS even has a checkbox for this basket on the Form 1116 Schedule B. My assigned accountant even seemed to take a contradictory stance on the forms he prepared: despite insisting that this could not be carried over (or back), he included a 1116 Schedule B carrying over the excess. This has a significant effect on my tax liability. TFX said that the only way forward was to switch to the Accrued basis of accounting for Form 1116–not something I wanted to do (as it’s irrevocable) and is more complex than filing on the Paid basis. Unfortunately it's $720 down the drain as I’ll be filing my 2021 taxes and 2020 amended taxes (for the carryback) elsewhere—which is a shame, as the actual website and process are pretty good. If I just had income excluded via 2555, TFX may be a reasonable choice, but I feel let down by them this year. Ultimately you choose an accountancy firm based on trust; after this experience, I feel that I couldn't trust TFX to make good decisions about my taxes.

United Kingdom | 04 April 2022Great service, they help me every year since I moved abroad. Been living in UK since 2009, and the process with them has only got easier and easier with autofill on forms and being able to upload documents directly to the site.
